Former Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor has been released from his contract with Nottinghamshire with immediate effect.

The 31-year-old has been allowed to leave Trent Bridge to return home to Zimbabwe "for family reasons".

Taylor played a key part in Notts' T20 Blast and One-Day Cup trophy wins this season.

"Winning two trophies, including one at Lord's, has been a real highlight in my career," Taylor said.

Taylor, who hit hundreds in his first two matches when he joined Nottinghamshire in 2015, scored 65 in a game-winning partnership of 132 with Samit Patel to help Notts win their first T20 Blast title against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

He scored 376 runs in the One-Day Cup, including an unbeaten 154 in the quarter-final win over Somerset, as Notts went on to beat Surrey in the final at Lord's.

Taylor described the wins as "moments I will never forget".

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Trent Bridge, where I have made some fantastic friends among the dressing room and club staff during the three seasons I have been here," added Taylor, whose contract was due to run out at the end of the season.

"But being away from my wife and children has proven to be very difficult for me and I have reached a point in my life where I must consider their needs.

The above is very big news and he could be back in Zimbabwe colours as early as next month against West Indies!

Good news for Zimbabwe because he was a really good player for Notts especially in limited overs.

I think, he has taken a gr st gamble - this year, he was so good for Notts, in LO cricket that, they might hire him as an overseas player next year. That allows him playing for both ZIM & County.

On the other hand his wife and kids are living from Zimbabwe so its probably not great being so far away for half the year. Family over money.

But, minimum money is required - Taylor won't be playing cricket in his 40s, that's entire 2nd half of his life. I think, still it's a calculative decision, otherwise he could have shifted his family to UK, as Kolpak.

Kyle Jarvis returns home to Zimbabwe

Lancashire County Cricket Club can confirm that bowler Kyle Jarvis is to return to Zimbabwe to play international cricket.

The fast bowler has asked and been granted permission to be released from his contract which was due to expire at the end of the next season to play international cricket for Zimbabwe, having already played eight Tests before joining Lancashire.

Jarvis moved to Emirates Old Trafford in 2013 and has gone on to be the Club's leading wicket taker in that time, taking 50 First Class wickets in both 2015 and 2016. In 2017, he's taken 37 wickets at an average of just over 22 in the Specsavers County Championship.

The 28 year-old took his best figures for Lancashire of 6/61 against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl just last month.

Jarvis said, "I have absolutely loved my time at Lancashire over the last four years. It’s a very special place and I have made some fantastic friends here. I am immensely proud to have played a part in the history of this great Club. I would like to thank everyone that for making me feel part of it.

“It has been a really hard decision to make to return to Zimbabwe, but the opportunity to return home and play international cricket is something that I really want to do.

“I would like to thank Glen Chapple and the Club for releasing me, and I wish them well, in what is a hugely exciting time for Lancashire as a whole, both on the playing perspective and how they are to grow the game in the county.

"There is a fantastic group of players in the Lancashire changing room and I wish them all the very best of luck in the years ahead."

In 2015, Jarvis played an important role in the Lancashire side that won promotion back to Division One of the Specsavers County Championship and helped the Club win its maiden NatWest T20 Blast title.

Lancashire Head Coach Glen Chapple commented, "The Club completely respects Kyle’s wishes to go back home and play international cricket for Zimbabwe and it's a great opportunity for him to show what he can do against some of the best players in the world. We are obviously going to miss Kyle in the changing room and on the pitch.

"On behalf of the whole coaching staff, players and everyone at the Club, I'd like to wish Kyle every success in the future. He will always be welcomed back to Emirates Old Trafford."

Great news. Zimbawe recently won odi series against SL and almost won the test match if not for Gunaratne. Inclusion of these 2 will only make them stronger.

Superb news. It won't make Zimbabwe worldbeaters but at least their ability to compete with the top teams is greatly enhanced now with Taylor bolstering the batting and Jarvis boosting what was a weak Zimbabwean pace attack.

Credit to the new administration, namely managing director Faisal Hasnain, as it seems they're getting their house in order.

Jarvis is brilliant Test bowler and there's no denying that he will be a massive addition to the Test XI. However, Jarvis was always an extremely mediocre LOI bowler and as we all know, he comes with a very heavy price tag. Now this begs the question - is he worth the money if Zimbabwe are going to be playing a handful of Tests every year? 4-5 at max.

Zimbabwe look a much stronger unit with these two. Arguably their best batsman & bowler back.
