Can Karachi be treated and declared as the second capital of Pakistan?

Lots of people are speculating the various different options that the federal government is considering for the city of Karachi. Governors rule, declaring Karachi as a seperate province or the second capital of the country, devolution of power and the reintroduction of the Nazim System under Musharraf where the Nazim's are given full powers and authorities.

I am personally inclined towards either declaring Karachi a seperate province or the second capital of the country so that the federal government has full motive to pay attention to the upgradation needs of the city.

Makes no sense. One capital enough, it's not like Islamabad isn't serving the purpose of a capital already.

What Karachi needs is local autonmy within the province of Sindh, think of how the Mayor and city council of Toronto has so much more power than the Ontario government. That's how democracy and federalism is supposed to work, sadly the PPP does not understand this, they thing only believe in federalism when it comes to the provinces but local governments are supposed surrender all authority to them. If Sindhi nationalists love Karachi and don't want to see it become a separate province then just give it the right every city has, whether it's NYC in New York, LA in California or Sydney in New South Wales.

The goverment cant declare Karachi as a separate province, or as a second capital. You are basically going to create a Sindhudesh movement then. Sindhis have made it clear that they do not want Sindh divided.

What the federal government can do is use federal funding to improve Karachi, as PPP wont do anything. So with federal money you can create a drainage system in Karachi, as well as create a public transportation system, create roads,etc. Basically if Karachi needs something, the federal government will have to do it.

They dont have to love Karachi. No matters what the people of Karachi want, Karachi will never be a separate province.

Sindhi nationalist do claim to love Karachi, they say it's an integral part to their province. You're not familiar with the narrative.

First of all from your post history I believe you're Indian so you're not familiar with the specifics of Pakistani politics and history. The "Sindhudesh" movement is practically dead and there's no such threat, I'm saying this as someone that does have Sindhi relatives and have been to Sindh (including the interior), also Sindhis aren't one monolothic people or voting bloc, there are wide sections of Sindhi society and believe it or not there are many who actually do want Karachi to be a separate province or at least have more autonomy.

The federal government unilaterally cant declare Karachi a province. You need approval from both federal and the provincial government.

Second of all i am a Pakistani, who was born in Karachi.

Third, i agree that right now there is no active Sindudesh movement, however separating Karachi from Sindh would anger the majority of Sindhi's, who do not want their province divided. The movement can grow significantly if Sindh is divided. As an Urdu speaking person i would love nothing more than for Karachi to be a separate province, however its not a realistic option.

Karachi WAS the capital and our political elite created a whole new city just to take it out of Karachi. I don’t expect any relief for this city as long as it’s a part of Pakistan.

Karachi is certainly very different to various other cities of Pakistan,but then you could say that about probably all of the cities which lie in different provinces. It's not dissimilar to India in that regard.
