Daily Awards & Prizes

Fielder of the Match Rs 400,000
Colourful Innings of the Match Rs 400,000
Man of the Match Rs 750,000

Overall Tournament Prizes

Spirit of Cricket Award Rs 3,200,000
Best Fielder of the Tournament Rs 800,000
Best Wicketkeeper of the Tournament Rs 800,000
Best Bowler of the Tournament Rs 800,000
Best Batsman of the Tournament Rs 800,000
Player of the Tournament Rs 3,000,000

Runners Up - Rs 30,000,000
Winners - Rs 75,000,000

For the Daily Prizes, assuming 40 matches were played, Rs 62,000,000 has been spent.

For the overall tournament prizes Rs 114,400,000 has been spent and overall Rs 176,400,000.

I am impressed with the prize money being offered for the daily man of the match awards and fielders and colorful innings. Rs 400,000 to Rs 750,000 is pretty good money. I am pretty sure that even the IPL does not offer this much.

I think Rs 800,000 for the batsmen, bowler, fielder, wicket keeper of the tournament is a bit low, To perform consistently throughout the tournament requires hard work, it should be around Rs 1.5-2 million and the player of the tournament should get around Rs 5-6 million atleast.

But overall i am pretty impressed with how the PCB and PSL has now increased the prize money for the players in now the sixth season. I just wonder if this is not something that is just excessive and unaffordable to the PCB and PSL stakeholders where they are spending way more than they are making.

The prize money for man of the match award is hefty money (7.5 lakhs PKR)

IPL gives 1 lakh INR for every many of the match award. That translates to around 2.13 lakhs PKR.

The prize money in IPL for other awards are higher though. The IPL winner gets 10 crores INR, i.e., 21.3 crores PKR compared to the 7.5 crores that the winner gets in PSL.

Has to be done if you want to be taken seriously in league cricket.

PCB's marketing department needs to get busy and recoup the expenses.

Btw I am sure that the PCB alone is not paying for this. The sponsors will pay for these prizes

I have no clue on how much money the IPL has out but if we go with your numbers, I think PSL & PCB are doing seriously great

higher than IPL on match prizez and 1/3 of the most established n expensive n lucrative league like IPL, this is good going for PSL ... hopefully this will increase with more games happening in Pak next year

Multan Sultans won their maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) title on Thursday after beating Peshwar Zalmi in the final. Multan side qualified for their first final after defeating the table topper Islamabad United in Qualifier 1 and have been on a rampage after the 6th edition resumed in Abu Dhabi.

Multan Sultans amassed 206 runs in the final owing to the tournament's consistent run-scorer Sohaib Maqsood's unbeaten knock of 65 runs off 35 balls and Rilee Rossouw's quickfire 21-ball 50-run knock. After which, a complete bowling performance led by ageless leg-spinner Imran Tahir and pacers Shanawaz Dhani, Sohail Tanvir and Imran Khan helped Mutans side defend the mammoth total and they won comfortably by 47 runs.

It was a dream comeback for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side, who were at the bottom of the points table after the first phase of the league held in Karachi.

Along with the fabulous trophy, the franchise also received a hefty paycheck. The winner's prize money was INR 3.5 crore (PKR 75 million). How does it compare to the prize money of the winning team in the Indian Premier League (IPL)?

Due to COVID-19, the prize money in the IPL was reduced by half due to reduced profits, which meant the winning side in the IPL 2021 will get INR 10 crore as the prize money as opposed to the previous amount of INR 20 crore.

The runners-up Peshawar Zalmi received the prize money of INR 1.5 crore, while in the IPL the team finishing second will receive INR 6.25 crore as opposed to the previous amount of INR 12.5 crore.

Similarly, the prize money of individual awards also differs. While the Player of the Tournament, Sohaib Maqsood got INR 14.1 Lakh (PKR 3 million), the Most Valuable Player in the IPL will receive an amount of INR 10 Lakh.

The best batsman and best bowler in the IPL will also receive the same amount of INR 10 Lakh and the best bowler in the PSL, Shahnawaz Dhani received INR 3.75 Lakh (PKR 8,00,000) and the best batsman Sohaib Maqsood got INR 3.75 Lakh (PKR 8,00,000).

The best fielder, Iftikhar Ahmed also received the same amount INR 3.75 lakh (PKR 8,00,000) while the best wicket-keeper, Mohammed Rizwan also received INR 3.75 lakh (PKR 8,00,000).

Pakistan have been playing almost non-stop cricket for a while now against mostly attractive nations. Wasim Khan has also done a amazing job in securing TV deals. Throw PSL into the mix and i am sure the PCB are doing fine.

The sponsors provide most of the prizes, thats why they have silly names like tapal tea catch of the match. If you want to attract the best players you have to pay them accordingly.

The next goal should be to increase the fees paid to the players especially the international players. That's how you attract the best. Also the PCB should explore a window after the IPL
