Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday evening met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.

Sachin met Pawar at Silver Oak, Pawar’s South Mumbai residence giving rise to political speculation.

The master blaster's meeting just days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections raised eyebrows in political circles but the NCP claimed it was a personal visit.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said that no politics was discussed in the meeting. “It was a personal visit and no politics was discussed at all. It was a courtesy call. So there is no truth in any speculation.

When Sachin backed continuing cricketing ties with Pakistan after the Pulwama attack; he was trolled by the BJP and criticised. That time it was Pawar saheb who backed him and came out in his support,” Malik said.

After the Pulwama attack, amid demands that India should not play Pakistan and pull out of the world cup too, Tendulkar had said he would hate to gift two points to Pakistan by not playing.

Pawar had defended Tendulkar and said that those attacking Tendulkar should keep it in mind that he started his career by beating Pakistan.

I love Sachin the batsman but truth is apart from batting he has no other skills. He does not fit into coaching, cant do tv due to lack of personality, a failed MP etc. Compare him with someone like Ganguly who is multitalented...from hosting reality shows to leading Bengal cricket, commentary, mentoring IPL team.....he has done it all since retirement.

Sachin is basically pretty skill-less if one just take out his batting.

I for one support the idea of Tendulya as a politician. Given that the person has no captaincy qualities, no coaching capabilities, not good enough to become a commentator or a a cricket analyst, he has all the required skills to succeed as an orator with that girlish high pitched tone of his and a leader of man, casting a large shadow with that 4ft frame of his.

He can then translate the same hunger of scoring runs into an equally ravenous appetite for embezzling public funds. After all, Tendulkar is an appointed God. After all. which Gods fearing Indian could possibly have the nerve to question a God?

Imran Khan was a born leader. The only cricketer who can give Imran a tough fight is Saurav Ganguly. Rest of them are too soft or don't have the personality. Politicians like Gambhir can sit in the opposition and break parliament's furniture though.
