Like Justcrazy said; if you want to play him, open with him. Stop trying to force players into positions they don't play at
And that’s the problem with not only the player but with our mindset too.
If a player is truly good then it shouldn't matter to him at what position he is made to play at.
He must make himself available AND perform, at any given position to make the captain’s job easy. This is what a warrior is.
This fussy and sissy attitude of,
“Oh I can play only at a certain position, and don’t complain when I fail after you have changed my position in the batting order”
is not only laughable but should have no place in the team building process.
We are quite unfortunate and at a difficult position for not having too many good players to fix the issue.
In a hopeless and desperate attempt, all we can do is flip flop players from one format to the other, retry TTFs, or shuffle the positions and batting order, and hope that something may click and miracle may happen (OP is a classical example).
What we continuously fail to understand at all levels is
[and make a note of it]
Hope is not a plan.
Fact of the matter is, just like many, many ordinary products of our domestic cricket, Shan Masood is just one more of the same Just not good enough.
Very weak, both physically and technique wise, slow to think and react. Severely lacks fire in the belly and a go getter attitude.
Take for example David Warner and his attitude and approach towards the game. 24/7 he is on the look to find an opportunity to eat the entire opposition alive. Shan Masood in front of him looks like bheegi billi.
