Because instead of being loud and dancing looking silly for the camera's and all the glamour girls missing for the cameramen to perv on and get close ups.
True cricket fans in the crowd sat there appreciating great cricket being played back and forth by 2 nations who have never won the world cup.
The english fans watching their team toil for 27 years to see them so close to the world cup.
Its a final, its gotta be tense, its gotta be emotional, it had it all.
Yes Asian fans bring energy into the crowd and the noise too.
These were 2 nations and its fans so intrigued and so into the game they did not have to be loud or look silly, they knew all the players need complete concentration.
Also the over confident indian fans played a part too by hogging 41% of the finale tickets...
Look at the crowd at Trafalger square too admiring the final without looking silly or sitting on roof tops or walls or anything.
Its 2 respectful nations and its fans enjoying a great final.
And what a spectacular final it was.
I have to agree. I was there at the game, and I thought the atmosphere was fantastic. I have been to a diverse set of games/matches (e.g., Gaddafi Stadium, El Clasico, Superbowl), and my experience yesterday was right up there.
Naturally, it had a lot to to with the intensity of the game. Yes, there were a lot of Indian fans with pre-booked tickets, but there was a strong English contingent, and it definitely felt like an English home game.
Since we were left on the dark about the commentary (and many were not aware of the ODI-final super over rule), there was absolute pandemonium in the stadium when the announcer announced that there would be a super-over. Everyone flipped out, and it felt a little like kids being allowed to play outside for an extra 30 minutes with their friends.
My father, bless his heart, had dreamt of being at Lords his whole life. Yesterday, I finally got to go with him, and it ended up being the best occasion that one could ever dream of.
He has seen international cricket his whole life, and he himself proclaimed that the atmosphere was unmatched.
The crowd was enjoying the game, respectful, did not have to rely on silly gimmicks, and loudly cheered their team with passion, singing along to songs. The crowd was loud at the appropriate times, without slander and hyper-nationalism. For me, it was the most perfect blend of a viewing experience one could have. It was so lovely to see the crowd sing along to famous tunes, even when the game was super tense.
I'd post a video showcasing the crowd being lit in harmony, but mp4 vids are apparently not upload-able on this forum.
