New Zealanders have no passion. An England vs India final would have been incredible. A shame they lost the semi-final.

Thanks to all the lovely Indians gobbling up all the tickets and trying to make a profit.

You are talking about crowd? I càn hear the buzz in crowd, maybe not as loud as I would have hoped still the buzz is hearable on TV.

Cricket is a not a passion in either country. In England cricket is 3rd at best and in NZ cricket is lower than Netball

My British colleague is more excited Wimbledon final. I asked him if he is gonna watch final today, he laughed on me. I sometimes feel embarrassed being an Indian fan that i care so passionately about a sport that no one gives a crap about cricket outside India.

The crowed is representative of everyone that has participated at the World Cup

Tennis is such a dead sport. Dunno what's so interesting about it.

It's always the same two players in the final.

Seems to be a lot of neutrals out there and people who are 'pretending' to be England fans.

I hope crowd runs in after the victory run or wicket is taken like old days. That makes the winning the scenes so much more memorable.

Who cares what people from other countries think about cricket. If you like it, then that’s all that matter. No need to feel embarrassed about it.

ICC need to review ticketing policy after this World Cup.

Also the pitch hasn't been conducive to exciting cricket, could do with some more pace.

England fans don’t have any passion either.

The English crowd is as dead as they come in sports, especially at Lords. It may the home of cricket but it’s a bloody boring place to play cricket.

New Zealand had a better home ground in the semi final at Eden Park.

They've already shown so many people in the crowd literally wearing Indian cricket shirts and a man with the Indian flag painted on his face. They've made a mockery of cricket if you ask me.

The problem is the ICC could not force people to re-sell their tickets, it was optional. It seems that a lot of people have not re-sold their tickets and instead turned up just to be at a World Cup final.

Its a boring final. No buzz in the crowd no hype what so ever.

With root just getting out maybe it will be more exciting soon

Isn't that a good thing that people still show up for the game even if their team is not playing?

Not many New Zealanders in there tbh. Probably more Indians than New Zealanders.

ICC should put semi-final and final tickets on sale after the participants have been determined.

True. Something similar happened in the 2016 T20 in India when India lost to WI in the semis. Most of the crowd was Indian as you would expect it to be but unlike this match they actually seemed to be invested in it. The neutrals in this match are too busy posing for the cameras in their blue jerseys instead of enjoying a World Cup final

They're not doing anything apart from posing for the cameras in their blue jerseys. They don't seem to be invested at all in the cricket if you are watching the broadcast. At least in T20 2016 there was energy in the crowd and segments of the neutral crowd were backing one of the 2 teams

Both sets of fans are quiet, this is not unusual at all. Plus with the bowling being as good as it has been on both sides, the crowd doesn ot know what to do. Fours and sixes can be cheered but fans these days have no understanding of good bowling.

Indian fans àre same everywhere. Even in India they just about India India or Sachin Sachin back in day. Lack the slogans and songs sung in unison.

It is for the fans because they are getting to watch a World Cup final, but it does nothing for the occasion or the atmosphere.

Cricket badly needs a good American team.

These English, NZ, etc; Won't cut it.

Atleast in WC15, Aus fans turned up in yellow jerseys to watch the final. What a buzzkill this match is. I don't even feel i am watching the final. Ind-Pak game had such a great buzz.

England and NZ are dead crowds, also cricket isn't popular in either country.

World Cup should always be in Asia or Australia, no point having matches in places where people don't watch the game.

NZ people live in NZ unlike South Asians who move to different countries

England has one of the most boring crowds for Cricket, and it's becomes even more boring at Posh Stadiums like Lords.

Dressed up in Tie, Suit and Boots as if they have come to watch Horse Racing and sitting there politely like Dead Ducks.

In 2015, there was good atmosphere even at NZ stadiums. Just check out the crowds for the Semi Finals v/s SA.

Asian fans are the best. Not to be racist or anything but everyone is boring compared to us desi's.

No passion in the NZ or Eng fans, I have seen a more involved crowd in my nephew’s l’l league baseball game.

I have friends who flew down from Hong Kong...I’m glad they’re enjoying their day and even though they are Indian fans who often do people get to watch a final of a World Cup at the home of cricket?

It’s a world event and not an ECB event, it belongs to the world so I think it’s only right that fans from other countries attend otherwise it would be 95pct English support with a sprinkling of Kiwi fans..

Exatcly no
Jumping around
No singing
No dancing
Plus no colour
All the do when a 4 or wicket is do
EEEEEAAAAAA...

Just so lame.

I so wish Pakistan was in final.

It wouldv been full of green passionate fan

Again which is fair enough.

But again, lots of neutrals in the audience doesn't bode well for a great atmosphere.

Trust me if the atmosphere was anything like the earlier England vs Aussie game at Lords, then having fans from other countries can only be a good thing...

That is what happens when over 50% tickets are sold to Indians well over a year in advance and then they put them out on sites for 10K-15K each when they are £100 or £300 on face value.

A lot of neutrals in the ground doesn't bode well for a final between 2 teams one of whom is the home team playing at home.

Just remember what an atmosphere was it for a league game between Pakistan and Afghanistan, you could feel the buzz in the air. It all boils down to how much the Crowd are involved in the Sport.

The English Fans are like Posh Nawabs , like how the royals play and enjoy the sport in a slow excruciating manner .

Ok I take it all back.
They just cut to Trafalgar Square..
Imagine if all those people were in the ground

No

This is how cricket should be watched . We are at Lords the home of cricket. You can see it’s a very tense & exciting atmosphere.

No need for horns , screams , cuddly toys , silly signs wanting to marry a player or fights in the stands , people standing up in front of you doing pathetic dancing .

It’s a gentleman’s game , a civilised sport . After England giving the game to the Asians , you thought they would have realised this . :wg

English fans are dull and boring. Just don't know how to enjoy the sport. In places like India, Pakistan, Bangaldesh, past WI and even in SA, the Cricket atmosphere is like a carnival like you see in football matches in South America.

It's packed with day tripper Indian fans. It's like the 4th day of a 4th test where 3 days have been lost to the weather.

You should see the English during a soccer match then lol. Fact is, they don't care about cricket and hosting the WC there is a mistake.

Actually Asians have no right to complain. It will be the way England and NZ want it to be.
We lost our chances way back.

The working class fans follow football not cricket, that's where the passion and atmosphere is. Cricket audience is a made up of a more middle and upper class demographic.

That being said, the atmosphere is noisier for an Ashes with Barmy Army contingent - but that's because Ashes is the rare time working class/casual fans actually engage with cricket.

They have every right to complain. A broing crowd is a boring crowd, plain and simple. England is a terrible place to host multi team tournaments.

I think you guys are exaggerating a bit. The atmosphere is not bad especially now that the game is tensing up a bit. Most English cricket fans or at least the ones who make the trip to the grounds are middle class or above. Can't expect them to behave the same way as rowdy working class subcontinent fans.

This is the beauty of Lords , it can make even the most exciting one day contest between two attacking teams into a depressing day of cricket, I’ve just never liked the pitch at Lords as its always designed for 1980s style low scoring cricket with even best batsmen struggling to play strokes - I’m sure the pitch at Nairobi cricket ground in Kenya would give much more exciting cricket contests.

Lord’s might be good as a test match wicket with all the history, but it’s not suited for one day cricket.

It’s football & I do every season . Apples & Oranges , different sports .

We have a fascinating game . England fighting back hard , the ground is buzzing & with the sun out now you could paint a perfect picture .

Best looking final of all time :boycott

But what about all the Indian fans gobbling up the tickets? - potentially spoiling a WC win for the hosts.

Anyways why would anybody watch this match when an epic Federer-Djokovich Wimbledon Final is on!

Feels like it is shaping up to be one of the most tightly contested World Cup final matches in a long long time.

Not different sport, English don't care about cricket is the main issue. WC shouldn't been hosted in England, both weather and crowds are awful.

Are you an actual *****? Where should they host the World Cup then? Toronto? England is the home of cricket. Most of the games saw good attendances. And nearly all the teams had good support throughout the tournament. England is the only venue that ensures that due to its multiculturalism. Just because the fans are not jumping up and down or chanting 'jeevey jeevey' or Jai Shri Ram or whatever non-stop doesn't mean the atmosphere is bad. It is cricket at the end of the day not a hooligan sport.

Everyone in the crowd contributing to a superb atmosphere. Was there ever a final this close

The crowd was dead earlier but one of the most thrilling matches of all time is livening up the crowd.

It was indeed a boring environment in the first innings.
It livened up in the chase. And the amazing amazing contest made everyone go crazy too.

Were you guys watching the same game ? It was the most intense game of cricket in the history of world cup. The crowd was amazing too. I guess you have to find something to complain about. Only thing bad about the crowd were the ignorant Pakistani and Indian fans

Because instead of being loud and dancing looking silly for the camera's and all the glamour girls missing for the cameramen to perv on and get close ups.

True cricket fans in the crowd sat there appreciating great cricket being played back and forth by 2 nations who have never won the world cup.

The english fans watching their team toil for 27 years to see them so close to the world cup.

Its a final, its gotta be tense, its gotta be emotional, it had it all.

Yes Asian fans bring energy into the crowd and the noise too.

These were 2 nations and its fans so intrigued and so into the game they did not have to be loud or look silly, they knew all the players need complete concentration.

Also the over confident indian fans played a part too by hogging 41% of the finale tickets...

Look at the crowd at Trafalger square too admiring the final without looking silly or sitting on roof tops or walls or anything.

Its 2 respectful nations and its fans enjoying a great final.

And what a spectacular final it was.

I have to agree. I was there at the game, and I thought the atmosphere was fantastic. I have been to a diverse set of games/matches (e.g., Gaddafi Stadium, El Clasico, Superbowl), and my experience yesterday was right up there.

Naturally, it had a lot to to with the intensity of the game. Yes, there were a lot of Indian fans with pre-booked tickets, but there was a strong English contingent, and it definitely felt like an English home game.

Since we were left on the dark about the commentary (and many were not aware of the ODI-final super over rule), there was absolute pandemonium in the stadium when the announcer announced that there would be a super-over. Everyone flipped out, and it felt a little like kids being allowed to play outside for an extra 30 minutes with their friends.

My father, bless his heart, had dreamt of being at Lords his whole life. Yesterday, I finally got to go with him, and it ended up being the best occasion that one could ever dream of.

He has seen international cricket his whole life, and he himself proclaimed that the atmosphere was unmatched.

The crowd was enjoying the game, respectful, did not have to rely on silly gimmicks, and loudly cheered their team with passion, singing along to songs. The crowd was loud at the appropriate times, without slander and hyper-nationalism. For me, it was the most perfect blend of a viewing experience one could have. It was so lovely to see the crowd sing along to famous tunes, even when the game was super tense.

I'd post a video showcasing the crowd being lit in harmony, but mp4 vids are apparently not upload-able on this forum.
