Central Punjab [201/3] beat Southern Punjab [200/8] by 7 wickets in National T20 Cup

Don’t want to jump the gun to early but future limited over teams for the world cups in India can look like

Babar
Ali Imran/Zeeshan Malik
Haider Ali
Abdullah Shafique
M Rizwan
Hussain Talat
Khusdil Shah
Shadab Khan C
Zafar Gohar
Haris Rauf
Shaheen Afridi

Wow, thats just getting ridiculous for Shafique.

One pacer short

I think he needs to be drafted in quite quickly into shorter formats, especially of he has great tournaments. We aren't exactly spoilt for choices and I doubt he will learn much more from local coaches.

Islamabad please sign him up for PSL.

Naseem Shah going at 10 RPO lmaoo

This is the kid we have all our hopes on. Good luck Pakistan

To be fair on him even Shaheen went 9,5 RPO last game these tracks are full patta and not ideal to judge bowlers though I have maintained he was rushed in early and should have played only FC and A tours for couple more years.

Only 2nd batsman in the world to score century on FC and T20 debut.

100 for Abdullah Shafique on FC and T20 debut. He is only the 2nd player in the world to achieve this milestone.

Brilliant batting, not after Babar have I been this excited about a Pakistani batsman. The placement for the double further shows why he can be seriously good.

Missed Shafique's innings but great to see the young talent on show.

But but we need to return to days of UBL vs WAPDA as per bitter, disgruntled dinosaurs.

I saw Babar bat in domestic cricket before he made his debut, and he did not look anywhere near this Shafique guy. Neither does Haider.

Word of caution though, the bowling attack he faced was not of great standard. However, for a 20-year old to boss a chase of 200 against whatever bowling, playing the most outrageous strokes, has to be commended.

Another bobby? Can he be top tier? I think we need to threw these lads in like we threw in naseem and shaheen.

Zeeshan Malik
Haider Ali
Abdullah Shafiq

Looking good for future
Can't say about top tier until he faces a decent bowling attack. However, he was immense under pressure of a huge chase, and literally just stomped over the SP bowling attack.

A good season of FC cricket would do wonders for Abdullah. The only worry is that CP is a star-studded test team in batting and the only team that favors youngsters has been Northern. Also, when Pakistan team goes for the test tour to New Zealand I expect him to be in the A team.

I don't think coach will sit him out for Quaid-e-Azam trophy after today's innings.

If he does it will be a stupidity.

Play him instead of Salman Butt in first xi.

The thing that I loved was he wasnt over hitting and not many dot balls he looks technically correct

I'd be shocked if he was picked for the qaid e azam

A century stand for the third wicket between debutant Abdullah Shafiq and veteran Kamran Akmal helped Central Punjab make light work of a 201-run chase against Southern Punjab in the second match of the National T20 Cup First XI tournament at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.

Central Punjab overhauled the target in the penultimate over of their innings losing only three wickets in the process.

The right-handed Abdullah who made a century on his first-class debut stunned the Southern Punjab bowling attack with an incredible innings to guide his team to their convincing victory. Abdullah reached the 100-run mark off only 55 balls (11 fours, 4 sixes). He became only the second batsman in the history of the game to score a 100 both on first-class and T20 debuts and the fourth Pakistani to score a 100 in his maiden T20 appearance.

The richly experienced Kamran once again demonstrated his T20 batting prowess with a dazzling 75 off only 41 balls (11 fours and two sixes). The wicketkeeper batsman was joined by Abdullah in the first over of the Central Punjab innings after Aamer Yamin had sent Rizwan Hussain and Abid Ali back to the dugout on two successive balls.

Kamran and Abdullah added 145 runs for the match winning third wicket partnership in only 77 balls. Captain Saad Nasim (18 not out) finished the job with Abdullah who remained unbeaten on 102 off 58 balls. The two added 55 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership.

Reflecting on his performance, Abdullah Shafiq said: “I am very pleased since this was my debut and recently I also did well on my first-class debut. I played my natural game and maintained my flow. I belong to Sialkot, my coach and uncle supported and guided me a lot. I had to wait for my chances and I am happy that I have made it count. I am pleased that my team won and that is what counts the most, for me personal milestones are secondary. The pitch was great to bat on and really helped the batsmen. I like playing the fast bowlers and enjoy batting in the top-order.”

Batting first after winning the toss, Southern Punjab were well served by Sohaib Maqsood and captain Shan Masood who both scored 51 runs. The two added 67 runs for the second wicket, Shan’s innings included three sixes and four fours, he was bowled by Usman Qadir in the 11th over.

Sohaib played some powerful shots in his 26-ball innings that included three sixes and five fours. Hussain Talat contributed 34 off 17 balls with the help of three sixes and two fours.

Left-armer Sohaibullah was the pick of the Central Punjab bowlers taking three wickets for 24 runs while Usman took two wickets for 31 runs in his four overs.

Scores in brief:

Southern Punjab 200-8, 20 overs (Sohaib Maqsood 51, Shan Masood 51, Hussain Talat 34; Sohaibullah 3-26, Usman Qadir 2-31)

Central Punjab 201-3, 18.5 overs (Abdullah Shafiq 102 not out, Kamran Akmal 75; Aamer Yamin 2-34)

Result: Central Punjab won by seven wickets

Pakistan should not play in T20 wc in India. It will be extremely dangerous for the Pakistan players. They will not get any security plus the crowds will show their hatred against Pakistan.

Mohd Irfan looks like a buddha pensioner, has absolutely zero strength and pace in his bowling, at his best he used to bowl at 144-148 km/hr to complement his bounce.

Haris Rauf will fade away in 1-2 seasons, does not have in him to survive at top level cricket.
