Bowling looks extremely weak. Malinga is on his last legs and overweight. Lost all his pace and has no venom anymore. Kulasekra is also old and doesn't seam/swing the ball anymore. Lakmal was never LOI material. Don't understand why he makes the side. Pradeep isn't too good himself but best out of the lot. What ever happened to Chameera? That kid was bowling 150 clicks back in 2015. Should've been groomed by now. Something like Rabada. And there's this other lad bowling pretty fast, Shanaka I think. Why is he not there?!

Any-who, batting department looks really strong. Kusal Mendis is a breath of fresh air and the best talent in Sri Lanka. Kusal Janith Perera has already showcased his talent and he can be brutal up at the top and take the opposition out of the game. Gunarathne has also been instrumental in recent successes although he hasn't really showed up in the Bangladesh series. He's Sri Lanka's version of Jadhav.

Overall, the team looks pretty strong considering pitches will be extremely flat and good batting will play the main role in any team winning. Especially when they have the likes Tharanga and Mathews who can provide good starts and finish well.

Shouldn't be taken lightly. Pakistan's chances of winning a single game are very bleak at the moment. Hopefully we can select a similar batting squad, consisting mainly of youngsters able to play the modern game.

Easily the worst team out of the lot for mine. A nothing attack pretty sure it'll be even weaker come the actual playing XI where they will try to slot in as many half bowlers as they can to you know create an illusion of batting depth.

Not a bad lineup:
Tharanga
Perera
Chandimal
Mendis
Mathews
Gunaratne
Perera
Prasanna
Lakmal
Malinga
Sandakan

Should beat India easily, but South Africa and Pakistan will be tough.

SLCric SL_Fan Guys any idea why Chameera or Shanaka aren't in the squad? These guys can bowl express and give a lot of the FTB's a tough time. (Hopefully its Shanaka, I remb some Sri Lankan bowler bowling 150 clicks apart from Chameera recently)

Angelo Mathews
Upul Tharanga
Niroshan Dikwella
Kusal Janith
Kusal Mendis
Chamara Kapugedara
Asela Gunarathne
Dinesh Chandimal
Lasith Malinga
Suranga Lakmal
Nuwan Pradeep
Nuwan Kulasekara
Thisara Perera
Lakshan Sandakan
Seekuge Prasanna

Suranga, Nuwan Kulasekara and Malinga are able to bowl good yorkers. Given the playing conditions, Kulasekara and Malinga are two auto selections. Kulasekara is deadly in swinging conditions hes a better version of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and extremely under-rated.

Nuwan Pradeep with his pace will be the third bowling option, and Matthews will be a handful with his nagging line and length. Suranga - in case of injury.

Kusal Mendis, Chandimal and Asela are in good form, so they will make up the middle order with Matthews.

Kusal Perera and Niroshan Dickwella could be a dynamic opening combo, although Tharanga could be preferred due to his exploits at the top.

1. Upul Tharanga
2. Kusal Perera
3. Kusal Mendis
4. Chandimal
5. Matthews
6. Asela Gunarathna / Kapugedara
7. Niroshan Dickwella
8. Thisara Perera / Seekkuge
9. Nuwan Kulasekara
10. Lasith Malinga
11. Sandakan / Nuwan Pradeep

Can bat till 9, good opening combo, inform middle order and a variety of bowling options, ranging from dibbly dobblers to right arm bhuwaneshwar to accurate fast medium - fast bowling, along with a rookie leggie and a chinaman

Seekkuge, Thisara, Kulasekara, Asela can all hit it big.

Very good team, I must say.

Chameera was inconsistent every time I saw him and I think you are talking about Kumara he was the one who was bowling at mid 140s, not express pace. Sri lanka is going with senior squad, inexperience or lack of consistency is not good for an ICC event.

Yes. It was Kumara. I think I saw him bowling one around 150.
Any-who, I understand all that but these two guys are much better than Kulasekra and Lakmal.

Chameera is a decent prospect if he can bulk up a bit but he's coming back from an injury champ so probably not match fit just yet. I think the other guy you might be referring to is Lahiru Kumara. He should have been picked for mine. Seems to struggle in the death overs and can be expensive but injects some much needed pace into very much a one dimensional attack. Plus would have been a good experience for him looking ahead to the WC in Eng in a couple of years time. But hey forward planning is not something SLC and co have ever heard of quite clearly. They are all about short term band-aid solutions.

I am always a believer of Lanka punching above their weight but sadly not with this team they won't.

Agreed. I think, no matter how young or new the lads are, they are much better than the current pace attack and have a lot more talent too.
