It's been a great couple of weeks and will past long in the memory.

However, the trophy has a history of upset wins with the West Indies leading the way, followed by New Zealand and to a lesser extent India and Sri Lanka.

So with that in mind, amongst all the euphoria we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that there are major areas in the team that need addressing. There are probably 4-5 players in the starting eleven who either don't warrant selection or are being played out of position.

I hope this win isn't used to whitewash these weaknesses that need to be addressed.

Yes should get rid of:
Hasan (too short )
Amir (lacks guts, bowls defensive line, need a green mamba to be effective)
Babar(not going to play wi everyday)
Zaman(a hack)
Shadab (too young to play international get hammer by pandya, let him settle in domestic until early 30).

We should build our team around hafeez(experience, looks good aestichally when he plays) malik(the goat, enough said ,best puller in the world) azhar(whatta temperament, play proper shots at proper s/r) and ahmed shezad(looks good physically :afridi) for 2019 and 2023 wc

You joke but from my experience I wouldn't rule out the possibility.

i am also scared of this being just a flash in the pan victory like our earlier victories.

the good thing is that the coach and the captain continue to say that this is a team that is being built for the 2019 world cup. that gives me a semblance of hope.

the usual off field problems will now haunt these players - and we really do need a strong professional group of people around the young talents. hasan ali and shadab need to be protected at all cost for the future of pakistan.

hoping against hope that this win becomes a cornerstone of something good and we become a top three cricketing nation again. also hopefully the indian psychological hold will get away from these players and we end up doing well against india in tournaments.

Underdogs. This is word is over used.

This tournament showed, as to who fights till the last. You can say, tournament of the fighters. India and Pakistan both showed fight. In the end, Pakistan turned to be much better fighter.

If Hafeez and Malik have any izzat at all they will retire, they may not get another chance to go out on such a big high. I hope the PCB show them the door.

Shehzad is probably done, don't really want him in the team based on his current form and lack of improvement; same can be said for Wahab Riaz.

So all in all:

Out:

Hafeez
Malik
Shehzad
Wahab

In:

Haris Sohail
Fahim Ashraf
Sahibzada Farhan
Aamir Yamin / Hammad Azam / (another performing A/R who can bowl spin)

With the PSL around the corner, hopefully some up and coming talents grab the vacant spots with both hands. We picked up the likes of Sharjeel and Hasan through there, it's all about providing these guys an opportunity and being courageous enough to get rid of the dead weight miandadrules

Hope is that we go on to do something with our a limited overs team but the NZ series has definitely been eye opening for PCB

Bump!

Would really request all Pakistani fans, not OP in particular, to get over the Champions Trophy and assess the team that is in front of them. Other teams have won CT too in past but you would have rarely seen them talking about it during a World Cup.

Pk fans were RIGHT to enjoy the win. It has no impact on today. Savor it, Pk may not see silverware for a generation or two.
