Chris Gayle has had a stop gap test career. He was always an entertaining batsman to watch and has always been an impact player. It is highly unlikely that he will play any more tests in his career. He has had quite a good career in tests. How do you guys rate him as an opener? He aversges ~50 in Australia, 54.50 in SA(toughest place for opening batsman, Dravid averaged 29.71 there despite being one down), 67.50 in New Zealand and a respectable 36 in England. The numbers in these countries are pretty good.

Seriously underrated. Averaging 42 as an opener after 100+ tests certainly puts him up there with the great openers. One of the rare few players to get 2 triple centuries as well

Very good test player, very good ODI player and an ATG T20 bat.. Overall, very good cricketer but not even in top 10 from his own generation.

He was a very good test player. Not an ATG cricketer but he has respectable figures in ODIs and tests.

Very close to ATG status considering his all round performance in all formats and part time bowling.

Brilliant player, but his international legacy has been dented especially for the younger generation who didn't witness his exploits for the WI early in his career.

Seriously underrated.People only think of him as a T20 legend(which he is) but he’s also a pretty good test player along with a good ODI player.
