Hi all. I received my new CA plus 15000 cricket bat the other day. It is an absolute beast. I know there are several threads on how to prepare cricket bats, and I've done many in the past, but this bat look so beautiful that I'm not sure in what to do.

It says it's "fully knocked" - now I know I still need to knock it in.. the edges seem very hard and right angled so.... I presume you need to round it off? can somewhere confirm that.

The main issue is oiling. I always oil my cricket bats, but hate the fact that it makes the bat all brown. I love having a white cricket bat and when I see international bats, the bats are all white and shiny.

Is there any linseed oil which is clear and will not stain my bat dark???

Also I've heard you could add an anti-scuff sheet to retain moisture. However will that reduce the ping of the cricket bat?

Sorry for sounding like such a noob, it's just, I've never spent so much money on a cricket bat. So for me, this is a special deal.

Thanks all.

hello bro how r u....nice to hear and best of luck with ur new master piece .....bro i have 6 bats and i used linseed oil on 3 of them and clear scuff sheet on 3 of them..but its my personal opinion that if u wana see ur bat neat and clean and u love its white color then put clear scuff sheet which u got from ca bat.... and dont worry about its performance ca 15000 is a canon believe me....and scuff sheet is recommended by Julian Millichamp an Australian bat maker...and its also recommended by Brain lara and sachin .....hope it will help u alot if not then check on youtube

Thanks bro. So you recommend I put an anti-scuff sheet and not oil it, if I want to keep the bat white and clean?

Anyone else have any opinion?

Thanks guys

normally most of the bats from pakistan are over dried, so its better to oil it as it will increase its life span.

Oil it and then leave it for a week or 2 then apply a scuff sheet.

yes bro u can put scuff sheet on the blade of willow......sorry ammo i really don't know how scuff sheet will stay on willow after oiling.....cuz i really tried this method but its did not work for me.....and i am agree that most of Pakistani bats are over dried so u check ur willow if its over dried then pt some oil but if u wana know what is recommended by bat makers and top players ,then its scuff sheet not oiling......

You can't put the scuff sheet on an oiled bat. Put the scuff sheet on and then oil the exposed regions.

yes you can. Been done, you need to let the oil soak into willow for around 1 week, then get paper towel and wipe the excess oil, then apply a good quality scuff sheet.
