The cleric who claimed that Mohammed Shami committed a sin by not following fast during Ramzan has now criticised the pacer's daughter for celebrating holi. All India Muslim Jamaat president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi said that Shami's daughter's celebrations were illegal and against Shariat.
Razvi slammed Shami during the Champions Trophy as the pacer was seen drinking water during the Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia. In a video that was released late on Saturday, Razvi said that if Shami's daughter is sensible and still played holi, then it is a crime and will be considered against Shariat.
"She is a small girl If she plays Holi without understanding (it), then it is not a crime."
"If she is sensible and still plays Holi, then it will be considered against Shariat," he added.
Razvi said that he has told Shami and his family members to not let their children do anything which is against Shariat and said muslims should avoid celebrating holi.
"I have appealed to Shami and his family members Whatever is not in Shariat, do not let your children do it. Holi is a very big festival for Hindus but Muslims should avoid celebrating Holi. If someone celebrates Holi even after knowing Shariat, it is a crime," he said.
"I congratulate Team India's captain, all the players, and Mohammad Shami from the bottom of my heart on their success," he said.
In the same video, Razvi also instructed Shami and others, who were unable to fast, to do it after Ramzan.
Shami will now be in action during the IPL 2025 season, where he will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shami missed last year's tournament as he was recovering from surgery.
