Not only does Sharma fail miserably with a bat but he is also very weak at trash talk. With only 4 down instead of trying to prove a point at Durban against Steyn he is already thinking of Indian pitches :))) What a quitter.

That has become their mantra; I think it really should've stopped when they got smoked by England.

I was thinking the same thing. You are only 4 down, if you (Rohit) bat 20-30 overs you have good chance to save the test match. Sure it was difficult but no way impossible. That was really negative from him.

But well he is following the indian tradition. They did the same thing in Australia and England.

OMG ge didn't said that really ??

lol, I think Sehwag and/or Raina said the same to England ?

Wow, jokes on him

The Sky Pundits, particularly Angus Fraser were taking the pee out of Sharma when they went to the break. That's just awful FTB talk and very ignorant of the present mindset.

The video is from WillowTV I think its only available to view in North America that is why some people are unable to see it.

I am from North America and I cannot see it.

On topic: This comes in no surprise to me.

Can't see anything. Did he really say that? Hilarious.

Pujara, Kohli and Rahane batted so well against Steyn but he looked clueless.

from the article :))) :))

It all started when Rohit hooked him for four, after which Steyn said something to the India batsman. Rohit, of course, hit back with words of his own, continuing to jaw with Steyn from the non-striker's end. One of his comebacks was: "We'll see how you do when you come to India." Well, isn't that what Gambhir told the English players too? And we all know what happened when they did come to India a year ago.

Also, if Rohit were check out Steyn's statistics while sitting in the dressing rooom, he would find out that the South African's average in India is 20.23 and that he has taken 26 wickets in five Tests. This is better than his career average of 22.88. Facepalm moment, no?

Steyn wasn't holding back either. He pointed out to Rohit that "I have got more runs than you in this series." Steyn has 60 runs from three innings while Rohit has 45 runs from four innings.

The slip fielders also joined in, "Keep talking brother, keep talking," before Steyn's final parting shot: "You've played a handful of Tests and have done nothing in your career."

A few moments later Rohit lost his wicket to Vernon Philander. Guess if you can't bat, you shouldn't chat either.

That is the single most epic Steyn sledge of all time.

Pure ownage by Steyn, shame on Nohit if you can't bat at least practise your responses in your free time. The video is pretty interesting you can hear the enitre conversation pretty loud and clear through the stump mic lol

""You've played a handful of Tests and have done nothing in your career." -- Steyn

Nothing wrong in what Steyn said. Where is the link for article?

Anyway, I during the UAE series I said that even if Indians won't answer with bat , they will say stuff back to Steyn. Indians and Aus are two biggest sledging team going around right now.

Thanks. Dude doesn't even know how to sledge back. I always felt that when a batsman simply smiles back after getting sledged by a bowler then it irritates a bowler lot more and the batsman doesn't lose his focus as well.

I remember Root smiling back to Johnson few times. I also remember SRT smiling back at Steyn after being sledged. For a bowler it doesn't matter but for a batsman you make one mistake and you are gone.

Some epic comebacks from Steyn, especially the bit about scoring more runs than him :D

Why do all indian HTB say this? It makes them look even sillier than steyn was making them look :)

Rohit Sharma actually had a very ordinary ODI career for a very long time and only recently hit a patch where he was performing. He has played grad total of 4 test match.

You can't even call him HTB right now. He has to bully teams at home for 20-25 tests before deserving that tag.

Indian batsmen owned by steyn :))

"ok brother IPL meiin milenge " Dale Steyn

As funny as this is i find it hilarious how the pakistani fans are jumping up and down as it happened to an indian. When steyn was saying stuff to our batsmen people were getting their knickers in a twist on here.

And how many of our batsman told Steyn to come to UAE or Pakistan and tried miserably to talk back? That's the point of the thread not what Steyn did or didn't, Steyn sledges every batsman you see a thread for all of them. As for "Pakistani fans getting their knickers ..." that's a very interesting way of putting all Pak fans in to the same category including yourself which by your flag I guess you are a Pakistani or maybe you just got your nationality mixed up and had a freudian slip lol

LOL at the indians crying as usual. We dont have a shooper ishtaar shooper powar batting line up so anything our lot do is amazing. Im starting to think your batting isnt all that eitehr going on all of the above. lol..oh dear lol the rackishtaars never fail to give us great moments!

word of advice stay humble and dignified and maybe youll actually be liked?

Our batsmen can't say anything as they are not capable of performances anywhere :))

And read it again i didnt say 'pakistani fans' i said 'people' :akhtar

Pure ignorance. Steyn has been a beast everywhere he plays. He is the best pacer in history, miles better than anyone who played in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

no way!

those guys never had video analysts all the technology and trainers for everything but still they did better than steyn.

No one can beat Marshall as #1 bowler. Steyn is ATG and easily in Top 8 but best ever? no way he is not even best in his own country Donald was better.

This is the toughest era for fast bowling, batsmen have all the rules going for them and he has performed literally every where even on grave yard pitches. He has everything conventional swing, reverse swing, bouncer, the art of intimidation and setting a batsman up. Sorry but he scores big time over everyone who has played the game.

average 36 in lanka 32 in uae 31 in england 28 in australia 26 in new zealand how on earth is this called beast?

Dont forget to check Marshall and Imran averages everywhere

explain those rules to me please? what else is changed except bouncer rule in Test? Test is not one day cricket where rules are changed every 5/10 years and dont forget there were roads and more drawn test in 70s/80/90s. Maybe because of the video quality the bowlers from old era will look less threatening to you if you watch their videos but believe me or not Steyn is no way near the batteries of 80s and from WI i will rate Marshal Holding Ambrose above steyn and garner roberts and walsh below steyn.

Steyn has been all over Rohit right from the 1st over of this tour :)) Has he found Hafeez v2 in him?

no way!

So then can't the counter-argument be that those batsmen never had the video analysts, technology, and trainers that the current batsmen have?

If he had said that in a post match interview, it would be absolutely stupid.

He has said it on the field. Just some stupid sledging to destroy the focus of the bowler probably.

Nohit should learn to respect legends. He would lose the battle to Steyn everytime at this stage in his career.

You are right in terms of rules going for the batsman however personally I think most teams have a lack of quality batters and have had betters players in past so although rules are heavily favored towards batters there are simply not that many quality batsman currently.

Rules are changed in one dayers in Tests everything is same except bouncer rule. There were grassy and road pitches before and there are still same pitches althought till late 60s pitches were uncovered.

Even if we accept that argument how is he best ever pacer? he average in 30s in 3 countries which includes england also and late 20s in australia and and new zealand. So how is is he better than Marshall Imran Ambrose etc?

Kohli to Warner..

Raina talked about revenge series in the media and he wasn't selected too.

Gawd that was one epic  moment for him, trash talked and didn't even get picked :))

Guys like Kohli can back up their sledges but Gambhir, Raina have just looked like tools. Rohit should concentrate on his game and not go down the route of those 2.

Guy needs a swift kick on his butt and made to toil in domestic-cricket till he gets himself in order. He has talent and technique but his temperament will continue to pull him down.Needs to be replaced before the New-Zealand Tour

Check the Stats for the Test-Series and you will realize that the top 3 leading run-scorers for this series were Indian - Batsmen. We lost the series due to our club level bowling that will continue to be exposed in New-Zealand and England
I do agree with Rohit being a sissy and hopefully he will be dropped before the New-Zealand Tour.

Rohit can play some incredible shots. No doubt about that and his Talent.

But his technique is very questionable. Has little to no feet movement and searches for the ball outside off stump.

Rohit will succeed in India. In overseas, he will be a sitting duck. He has no clue where his off stump is.
He needs to get tips from Pujara on leaving outside off. IMO, Nohit is blocking some deserving guys spot.

I think it has to do with confidence and that is apparent in his shoddy foot-work as well.

Lol i saw that on the highlights package. Pathetic attitude really.
Steyn quipped "we're in Durban buddy", which was hilarious.
Perhaps he should have mentioned his record in India. Cant bat, cant think poor bloke.

He is coming off a Double century against Aus not many days ago. His confidence should be sky high.

In India he can play through the line as the ball does not misbehave or the pitch does not offer movement for bowlers. He tried to play the same way initially and found that he was missing the ball by more than a feet. It was embarrassing to see him struggle.

If Nohit is smart, he will take lessons from Pujara and Kohli and try to improve.

Beghairti haye haye. Ye to hafeez ka bhi baap nikla beghairti mein

spoken like a true flat track bully lol. I sometimes wonder what these players would do against the like of Wasim, Waqar, Imran and Malcolm. They could at swing at 150ks.

Steyn is no less than any of them, probably even better that some of them.

Reminds me of what virat said to Warner. We all know what happened to the aussies in India

SA is not Aus. Aus always gets a beating in Ind but that's not the case with SA.

Agree with this. He will really struggle in England unless he gets a better sense of where his offstump is and unless he can quickly move his feet or he will be feeding the slips all the time.

One of the things that impressed me about Pujara and even Vijay was their ability to leave balls outside off stump.

Free marketing for IPL just show clips from this Test before Mumbai vs Hyderabad encounter :P

I guess Rohit thought he could play like below against Steyn. He forgot he was not playing in Mumbai :))

These were also the famous last words of Gautum Ghambir. Is Rohit's career going to take a similar turn for the worst? You know a player's future is not looking bright when he resorts to the "come play in India" card. It's like a final act of desperation, when there is nothing credible to say.

You guys will miss Kallis big time.

SA have always performed well in India. Expect India to make flat beds.

Kallis would have been missed by any team. He gave so much flexibility. Now SA has to learn to play as other teams play. No more luxury of having a good 5th bowler with a great batsman as a package.

About Indian pitches, Indians should have turners like they had for Eng. SA doesn't have anyone like Swann/Panesar. I really doubt that SA will get flat wickets in India if Dhoni is still captaining the side. It seems he wants turners for all series. When SA is supposed to play in India next?

Clearly Nohit got distracted by his exchange of pleasantries with Steyn. Every bowler and team in the world will be sledging him now.

I always felt that it's stupid for a batsman to get into sledging war while batting. It mostly works in favor of a bowler. Best is to just smile back and feel more determined to do well. I remember many players saying that never try to sledge SRT and Steve Waugh. They will start playing even better. I think that's the best way to tackle any sledging and then no one is going to risk sledging you.

With this kind of childish reaction, every team will be looking to sledge Rohit. Why you will miss an opportunity to distract a batsman if he is willing to be distracted? Also, he has hardly played test cricket. He needs to get some runs to be respected rather than talk random stuff while batting.

I didn't watch the matches totally but I am surprised to not hear any sledging incident involving Kohli. He is usually involved in sledging war.

Kohli reminds me of a young Ponting in terms of his personality.

It depends on the batsman though. Brian Lara was renowned for picking a fight when he got to the crease because he wanted to get himself fired up. He would actually start sledging the slips fielders and the wicketkeeper. Steve Waugh gave his team very strict instructions to NOT respond to Lara when he started sledging them when he came to the wicket. Javed Miandad was another, he would start sledging the bowler to fire himself up.

Then you have the others that you didn't sledge, because then they started to concentrate more and it reduced the risk of them playing silly shots. Players like Viv, Kevinder, Tendy, Waugh and Imran Khan fell into this category. But as you say sledging usually is a tactic that works for the bowler, to get the batsman off his game. Because it shifts focus.

What a sore loser . Does he even know that Steyn averages 20 in India?

Why do we even need him? I really think Ashwin can bat better than him.

Reminds me of what virat said to Warner. We all know what happened to the aussies in India

At least the aussies accepted they were simply outplayed in india, no crying about pitches like kohli and gambhir or threats about what india will receive back in australia.

It's no wonder india have never won a single series in aus or SA when they have such a childish and weak mentality.

Sometimes you can judge a player by body language. Sharma apparently has a lot of talent but has a very lazy demeanor and i always get the impression he does not work hard on his game at all compared to kohli.
