Truth be told the other Asian sides have been pathetic and unable to expose India's weaknesses during the tournament.

Nonetheless, congrats. They pulled it off with a clean sheet despite all the wrong selections, playing without Kohli etc
 
Whatever lol Don't really care for this trophy. I thought India wasted golden opportunity to test youngsters.
 
What a waste.. India played woeful cricket and still won. Pakistan and Bangladesh should kick themselves for not winning against this pathetic Indian side :dw

Lol, the fact that India were able to win the Asia Cup with so many weaknesses in their team and by resting Kohli, shows how far Pakistan is behind India.

May be another 10-12 could have won the game, but we won't have seen boys fighting like this.

Even though India has won, I guess they cant relax. They need to seriously consider strengthening their middle order. Not everytime bowlers and openers will save them.

Great spirited effort by Bangladesh. REminded me of Srilankan team in the 90s. Not giving up till the end. Should have been walk in the park for India. Good tight bowling and indifferent batting by India took the match down to the wire.
 
Many congratulations to BD .. a depleted team almost won Asia cup.

As far as India is concerned ... we have a pathetic batting line-up after top-3 and even after that we needed 11 off 17 and then almost choked it away ... brainless bating by Jadeja and Bhuvi. Jadeja almost always plays unnecessary shots even when not required.

This is probably the 1st time a team has won a multi-nation tournament and still has more questions than answers for upcoming WC.

Good game by Bangladesh, they really put their heart in this match. But the lack of 2 big players was too much to handle.
 
Gotta respect Bangladesh's fighting spirit. Yes our middle order sucks, but it takes some effort!

Afgans deserve a mention too. What they run they had!

Pakpassion is a good forum, we have good discussion even for neutral matches.
 
Bd, for the first time, made me feel for them. Very, very good competitive spirit. And Indian team played as if it were a benefit match, in terms of batting. Anyway, good result for India. Congrats to India, a great job till last ball by BD.
 
Congratulations to team blue and good job green shirts.
It was a worthy final, 2 weeks of cricket came down to last one ball.
Couldn't have been better

congrats India. they have been the best team and so deserving champions.

another close finish. I am immune at this point. so close and yet so far. missed Shakib and Tamim dearly.
 
Disgusting result, cricket can be a cruel game sometimes. This Asia Cup victory will always have an asterisk mark next to it because of the role played by umpires. 2016 Asia Cup title was well deserved because we strolled to the end, here we huffed and puffed and got extremely lucky. Both in 2012 and today, Bangladesh deserved to win, commiserations to their fans but irrespective of the end result they have earned respect as an Asian powerhouse in ODI cricket.
 
Top game by BD really played well, and they have improved massively in this format, playing without Tamim and Shakib they have done very well!!!

India beat Pakistan by 8 wickets and 9 wickets respectively in this Asia Cup while teams like Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Afghanistan have made India sweat.

Honestly speaking the captain, coaching staff and chief selector needs to be held accountable for this humiliation on the grand stage.
 
Dhoni needs to apply his own standards to himself.He kicked out the seniors when he was captain by same excuse.Lost respect for this man now.Extremely selfish and will cost us the world cup.Have some self respect,have some pride dhoni.You are disgracing yourself and your legacy and harming your team and country.

Ageed. Close calls didn't go our way. It allowed BD to score 120/0.

2 50/50 decisions went against us and 1 for. So, India was cheated.
 
Yeah just about made it. When will be just bat first in finals for goodness sake.

Congrats to BD without their full-strength team for taking it to the last ball, even without a decent total.
 
Thats like really cruel of India.
World T20 2016, Nidahas Final, and now the Asia Cup final.
They make BD fans hope and hope and hope and hope and then KaBoom knockout punch.
 
If bd had batted sensibly we would have lost this match quite handsomely. Tbf. This win didn't teach us anything new about our team IMO. We could still collapse like dominoes tomorrow

This win will hide our pathetic middle order and in near future harm us very badly
I hoped that AFG tie had awakened our team
But that's not happened

BD fans are much more humble than u, you wanted a close game you got a close game but still you are complaining.

Good decision not to give last over to Saumya ... poor guy would have been distraught if his last over resulted in another loss for his country ... can't have something like that hanging around a player's career who actually plays as a specialist batsman.
 
It would have been far better if india had lost.It would have forced changes.Feel like tearing my hair out seeing that fool shastri strutting around as if something great was achieved.Fix middle order or wait for repeat of 2007.

Well done to India. Easily the best team in Asia. Also commiserations to Bangldesh. They played well in the last 2 games. They just can't get over the line when it counts.

Thanks man, you're a classy gentleman and cricket encyclopedia rolled into one. Luck wasn't on Bangladesh's side today but they have proved yet again that they are a force to reckon with in ODI cricket, the fight shown by them on the field was inspiring.

So, they can do well the whole tournament and not so well in the final and suddenly, their abilities are hopeless?

That's as defeatist of an attitude you can get...
 
Also, we need to bat first in knockout matches after winning the toss ... the notion that we are a good chasing side is slightly over-rated because our top 3 usually does the job for us and when they don't you have CT17 and Asia Cup 18 like finals. Batting first, there will be less pressure on other players and they may perform slightly better.
 
BTW, I came here to congratulate Bangladesh. The match thread has been closed so might rather do it on this thread albeit it's congratulating the opposition. BD, you guys played one heck of a game and deserved to win today.

Tho i think prithwi shaw shud be introduced before wc and shud be in as exta players and i think pant and rahul must be way to go give them 2-3 series rather than dropping them every 2 matches
 
Unhappy with our middle order, got exposed as expected :facepalm:

BD lost another opportunity to win a major match against IND. Bad win for us with that awful middle order which will play WC 2019 :(
 
They batted so poorly it doesn't even feel like a win. India need to revamp the middle order pronto.
 
Have some shame Rayudu, DK, MSD and step aside for someone more useful to the team!

We needed 4.5 RPO and still never looked comfortable with 5 wickets left, doesn't feel good with this last ball win.
