Averaging 43 SR of 74 while playing almost all his games at 7, a very nice achievement

He has been nothing short of amazing for us. The fact that he was kept out for so long by the Akmals, both of whom were quite honestly terrible batsman yet the older one was rated as our saviour / on par with Gilchrist.

I can't believe the hate he still gets. Dynamic and consistent.

Massive upgrade on all three Akmal brothers, and frankly on most WK-batsmen we've had over the years.

Needs to convert these 40s and 50s into big scores consistently now and keep improving his glovework.

The most underrated player in Pakistan.

I'm 100% sure if he was given more opportunities to bat a bit higher up, maybe ahead of Shafiq, he would have had a better record than him, already his average is 2 runs better than him while batting 1 position down.

He's been a great addition to the team ever since he made his debut across all three formats mashallah!

Hope he continues to grow from strength to strength In-Shaa-Allah & continues to learn, grow and develop as a batsmen & captain

He looked good against pace today, definitely has improved, he is not a selfish guy that's why he's not afraid of playing risky shots, taking risky singles etc. but yeah you are right now that he's considered as the next captain, he has to up his game in all departments

Yeah a ~45 avg wicketkeeper batsman who plays at 70+ SR. But still gets unnecessary hate.

He is the definition of selfless and team player. Sometimes I even think he should play for his avgs, that might make him motivated for playing big innings.

And we have folks like Hawkeye who want Kami to replace Sarf as the test keeper.

A good test batsmen. He looks to be positive which is important for our snail paced batting line up.

Any info on where he ranks amongst the quickest to 2000 from Pakistani batsmen.

and Junaids want Umar "explosive talUnt" in test team because we can't accelerate:danish completely ignoring the fact that Sarfraz has the second best strike rate in tests right now

The disappointing Test performances in 2016 aside, which were entirely predictable, he has been a breath of fresh air in the last 3-4 years. Rightfully deserves captaincy in all three formats.

building a very strong case for captaincy- it would be ludicrous to not give it to him

I hope he moves up the order too, I think he would fit nicely and is very capable of playing at 5 or 6

up until 2013 Sarf wasn't a good batsman, infact looked like a terrible tailender.

I back him as a Test bat.

He's far too fat to be a great WK though - needs to shed that weight and become a bit better at keeping.

And Kami isn't a fitness guru either nor is Junior who gains weight by drinking water.

Live with it, Most of our players are unfit and need to work on their fitness.

Superb stats really.

Averaging over 43 which many frontline batsmen would be proud of.

A stat they flashed during the Pak innings took me aback. The only Test
batsman in the world to score faster than him in the past 5 years has
been Warner.

Indeed, it looked like he was playing a different match from everyone else.
No fear ever. A great attribute for a captain in waiting to have. But also so
important that player with that attitude comes in earlier, helping to set a
different tone for the middle order.

He will score more runs if he bats at #6. I think it is time to replace Asad with a fast bowling all-rounder and promote Sarfraz to #6.

His ability to rotate strike in all 3 formats is second to none. Big reason why he's such a gun batsman. If Amir & Yasir can develop into a 20+ avg. batsman, that'll really help Sarf in terms of converting 50s into 100s and he'll be more relaxed rather then worrying about the tail.

Amir & Yasir both really have it in them to avg. 20+ with the bat which would really add much needed depth to our batting line especially overseas. Hope Arthur is onto both of them to work on their batting as well.

Sarf from 2014 onwards has been world class. Whoever his batting coach was needs to be paid for helping him transform from a terrible tailender looking hack to what he is today. Always a treat to watch him bat due to his positive approach. If only others in the team post YK-Misbah era can learn to rotate strike like he does, look out!

He can get to 5000 K Test runs easily . Needs to seal the number 6 instead of number 7 position place.

up until 2013 Sarf wasn't a good batsman, infact looked like a terrible tailender.

And what chances was he given for us to base that judgement on? He debuted in ODI after Kamran was injured and did not get to bat. He didn't return to the ODI side until years later and in fact in the Asia cup final he was our highest scorer with a crucial 46 as we won the match by 2 runs.

He debuted in Test after Kami performed so dreadfully, it could be ignore no longer....however he was dropped after one match.

I agree that he did nothing of note before 2013 but the fact that he wasn't given a consistent run is mind boggling. Especially when he was competing with a batsman who averaged the same as afridi..

the scary thing is we may never have this if Dilhara Fernando didn't break Adnan's finger.

Don't get me wrong I like Adnan, still the best pure keeper in Pakistan imo, but he was fortunate to play all his tests in the UAE.

Our selectors never seem to care where people debut, prior to his comeback Sarfraz played all of his tests in South Africa and Australia, just insane.
