It’s great that the ICC is trying to add meaning to bilateral cricket. However, reading through the proposals (bar politics where Pak v India can’t happen) it smacks of typical cricket. Rather than have everyone play everyone else they’ve made it really complex to the point that some matches in a series won’t contribute to the ODI league.

I love cricket so much and have done since I was 7 (therefore 26 years), but why does it fail to keep things simple? This is precisely why people will find it hard to keep up even as long-term fans...and you have to ask why m new fans would watch and bother trying to understand how things work in terms of the test championship and league?

I am just worried that by the time everyone's played each other, we would have all lost interest! But, it needs to be tried out atleast once.

I was under the impression every match in a series would count, just each series would be the same amount of points independent of length?

It’s wrong that some teams play weaker teams, while others have to play against stronger opposition

This is a good idea executed in a very poor way by ICC.
No proper system at all, if this is World Test Championship then every team has to play every other Test team.
Now in this Championship England will play 22 matches (highest) and Pakistan will play 13 matches(lowest) how is points system gonna work for it???

If points are based on matches, then this will turn into a farce, as no team is playing equal no. Of matches. Now if it is based on series then how can you get same points for winning a 2 match series and same points for winning a 5 match, which once again means that this will be a big flop.

It is a wonderful idea only if it is executed ina proper way.

It is a good idea unfortunately like many have mentioned, its a poor execution by the ICC.

Look guys, I'd rather have this imperfect system than the status quo of ENDLESS meaningless bilateral series with nothing more than ranking points to earn. Finally there's a prize to play for in Test cricket and with a League - you'll get fans actually caring about the outcomes of series their team is not involved in.

No, everyone doesn't get to play each other home and away, but that kind of League would take an eternity to complete. At least everyone is playing three home and three away series.

Hopefully the points system will ensure teams will earn the same number of points for a series win regardless of its length. Yes there's flaws but they can be ironed out.

It's a good idea as well to give context to international cricket but still not sure about how it's going to work. Even as fans it's gonna be hard if we can't enjoy bilateral series victories if in the long term it means nothing as the only long term goal would be to win the league. But we can't say International cricket is perfect as it is, so the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" isn't appropriate.
