I recently bought the Cricket 19 video game on PS4. I watched many great reviews about it and I have not been disappointed at all. There's a high level of difficulty and mastery to the game, and the batting and bowling options and processes are quite complex too, so when you middle the ball through the covers or smash the middle stump out the ground, it feels that much more rewarding. They've introduced many different and interesting aspects, such as story or scenario modes. It also allows you to play with all international teams and any international tournament like the World Cup, even though its the licensed game of the Ashes. I haven't played much, but from what I have played and seen, it looks like a fantastic game. I would definitely recommend it to any cricket lovers out there with an interest in gaming.

Agreed, great game.

I've set it to the hardest setting. Can barely score runs, but I do okay at bowling.

This is the first cricket game I've played since Brian Lara on the Playstation. Things have come a long way!

Going to start career mode soon.

The run scoring especially is really hard, but I've started to improve with practise. That's why I'm so happy that it's a challenging game, it makes success feel much better.

Yup, playing on easy was too easy. Was tonking boundaries for fun.

I'm glad this game will last a while. I love when bowling you can actually set the batsman up to make a mistake.

Yeah I'm just trying to make it last as long as possible. There are so many different modes, scenario, career etc but I've not started any of them yet. I'm just playing loads of regular matches just learning and getting better. I think that's the best way to play the game.

It's overall a great game and this iterations has a lot of improvements over the previous ones.

Career mode has some depth in it now and the inclusion of Scenario mode have made this game worth it.

Yeah the different modes gives the game a lot of depth.

Really funny cricketer names for non Ashes teams :)

I've been playing Test matches on the hardest difficulty and can't score a run to save my life :)

I can't react fast enough to switch to the relevant shot. At the moment, I don't play any short balls, and I only play on the off to covers or square, straight or a glance down to leg.

Anything else, my timing is way off.

My timing is always off :) Even when I'm anticipating a full ball on off stump and I'm ready to hit a cover drive, I still can't time it and end up edging it to slips. However, with the short ball, I've trained myself to press the back foot button (R2 on PS4) without even thinking as soon as I see the red circle. Still, my timing is horrendous :)))

Bought the game this summer and only got a chance to properly play it these last couple of weeks. Have enjoyed it, definitely get a realistic feel for the game.

Playing in career mode as a spin bowling all-rounder. Bowling economically is not difficult, but taking wickets requires patience. The AI captain is shocking so have to keep setting the fields myself. So many edges haven't carried or have found a gap :livid:

Batting is hard work. I can tuk tuk all day but trying to accelerate isn't easy. My best scoring option is tucking balls off the hip into the legside. My best 3 day score is 31 and my best 50 over score is 42* (52).

way to hard for me I quit :azhar2
I play games to relax and have fun...

Haven't played any of the new games since codemasters pulled out, the new titles are too heavy on the simulation front and can't produce graphics expected from this generation of consoles.

Have you played Real Cricket 20 on the mobile ? :yk it's surprisingly decent, there is a Test mode to and a world cup mode which you can play based on all the past tournaments and best part the kits from all those tournaments to go along with it!

I played a Test recently Pak v Eng, lost by an innings and 25 runs within 2 days on a green pitch :yk you have to be patient with the ball and work hard for your runs

I may get a cricket game after I get PS5. I haven't played a cricket video game in a while.

you should buy this one or the Bradman 17

this one's kinda realistic with their shots, more pitch options and pitches look realistic
go to academy area in the game and download real teams, stadium (their faces and names match with the real cricketers)
I heard that you can take your picture, upload it to the game and play as yourself in the career mode (you start with clubs, first class, than t20 leagues and than international) but I wasn't able to do that but maybe you can, you're a computer guy
(you can also you tube it) BTW I am talking about Cricket 19

wooh I sound like their marketing guy lol :))

Thanks for the suggestion. I may give Cricket 19 a try.

Played two full seasons and one 3 day game in the third season in Career Mode. Batting average is 35 with four fifties and a hundred, bowling average is 13 (mainly because it's very easy to be economical in this game).

Wicket-taking becomes easier once you upskill your player. Keep a short-leg in if you're a spinner as you'll get the odd bat pad.

Batting is okay if you stick to safe scoring shots, though playing spin isn't easy as I can't figure out how to sweep.

The commentary is WAY off. After I defended to a spinner, Mel Jones pipes in the batsman was "beaten with a slower one". As for stadiums, some Pakistani fans have uploaded some nice stadiums which you can download in the Cricket Academy.

I still prefer Brian Lara's and Ashes cricket on the PS. Bradman Cricket required too much patience and skill for my liking.

More commentary gems:

"He's timed that nicely" after a shot straight to the fielder which then went for four overthrows.

"It's a draw, the series remains deadlocked" - despite playing a club league game...
