Northern’s Hassan Raza scored an unbeaten century to take his side to the second successive win in the Cricket Associations Challenge (one-day event) on Monday in Karachi.

Southern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also won their respective matches in the second round matches of the tournament.

Northern beat Central Punjab by eight wickets

After being asked to bat first Central Punjab were bowled out for 220 in the 50th over. Mohammad Saad (68) and Abdul Samad (61) scored half-centuries for their side.

For Northern, Shadab Majeed bagged four wickets for 22, while Sufiyan Muqeem took three for 38.

In reply, Northern cruised to win in the 35th over with eight wickets in hand. Hasan scored an unbeaten 119 off 96 balls, hitting 12 fours and two sixes. Ali Imran scored a 71-ball 56, smashing four fours.

Southern Punjab beat Balochistan by 39 runs

Faisal Akram’s four-fer and Mohammad Shehad three-fer with the bowling led Southern Punjab to a 39-run win over Balochistan. Batting first, Southern Punjab were dismissed for 199 in the final over of the innings with Mohammad Umair top-sc0ring for his side with an undefeated 82. Balochistan’s Jalat Khan took four wickets, while Gohar Faiz and Taj Wali grabbed two wickets each.

In reply, Balochistan were bundled out for 160 in the 42nd over. Ayaz Tasawar top-scored with 42.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat Sindh by 60 runs

At the Landhi Gymkhana Ground, batting first Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 243 for eight in their 50 overs with Mohammad Mohsin Khan top-scoring for his side with 79. Sindh’s Ghulam Mudassar was the pick of the bowlers for side with figures of four for 36. Rameez Aziz took two wickets for 27 runs.

In reply, Sindh were bowled out for 183, handing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a 60-run win. Saad Baig top-scored for his side with 56. For the winning team, Maaz Khan took four wickets, while Zeeshan Ahmad bagged three wickets.

Karachi, 14 December 2022: Southern Punjab continue their winning streak in the Cricket Associations Challenge when they defeated Northern by 43 runs at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground in Karachi in the third round match. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Central Punjab also won their fixtures of the third round.

Southern Punjab v Northern

At the Landhi Gymkhana Ground, after being put into bat first Southern Punjab were bundled out for 205 in the 42nd over with Mohammad Junaid top-scoring for his side with a 57-ball 59, hitting two fours and five sixes.

Northern’s Sufiyan Muqeem bagged four wickets for 49, while Farhan Shafiq and Shadab Majeed took two wickets each.

In reply, Northern were dismissed for 162 in the 40th over, handing Southern Punjab a 43-run win. Opening batter Hasan Raza scored 55 in the losing cause.

For the winning side, Faisal Akram bagged three wickets for 29, while Mohammad Shehzad, Mohammad Umair and Mohammad Junaid took two wickets each.

Central Punjab v Sindh

In a low-scoring contest, Central Punjab after being put into bat scored 133 all out in 40.2 overs. Abdul Samad scored a 65-ball 49, hitting four fours and two sixes. Mohammad Waleed chipped in with a 71-ball 39, smashing two fours.

For Sindh, Arish Ali Khan and Waleed Azam took three wickets each, while Ghulam Mudassar and Mohammad Taha bagged two wickets apiece.

In return, Sindh were bowled out for 118 in the 37th over, with captain Ammad Alam top-scoring for his side with a run-a-ball 30.

For the winning team, Umaid Asif took three for 19 from his 10 overs, while Arham Nawab, Ali Asfand and Sohaibullah took two wickets each.

Balochistan v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At the TMC Ground, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Balochistan by five wickets. Batting first, Balochistan were bowled out for 200 in the 49th over, with captain Azeem Ghumman top-scoring for his side with a 62-ball 41.

For the winning team, Israullah and Arshadullah took three wickets each and Maaz Sadaqat grabbed two wickets for 25.

In return, 201-run target was chased down in 34 overs for the loss of five wickets. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa openers Israrullah and Maaz Sadaqat scored 54 and 53 runs, respectively and provided their team a 103-run start.

Aftab Ahmed bagged three wickets in the losing cause.

Karachi, 16 December 2022: Test cricketer Abid Ali’s century led Central Punjab to a 134-run win over Southern Punjab in the fourth round match of the Cricket Associations Challenge at the TMC Cricket Ground in Karachi on Friday. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also won their matches.

Central Punjab v Southern Punjab

After being put into bat, Central Punjab scored 304 for five in 50 overs. Abid Ali top-scored with a 133-ball 114. In return, Southern Punjab were dismissed for 170 in 38 overs. Central Punjab’s Mohammad Waleed bagged three wickets for his side.

Balochistan v Sindh

Unbeaten 106 by Azeem Ghumman led his side Balochistan to a 34-run win over Sindh. Batting first, Balochistan scored 245 for eight in 47 overs. In return, Sindh were bundled out for 211 in the 46th over. Balochistan Abdul Hanan was the pick of the bowlers for his side with four for 28, while for Sindh, Hasan Mohsin top-scored with 69.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Northern

In the third match of the fourth round, half-centuries by Israullah and Maaz Sadaqat led their side to score 223 for nine in 43 after they were put into bat first. Maaz scored 64, while Israrullah scored 51 and the opening pair added 109 runs.

Northern’s Saad Nasim bagged five wickets for 45.

In return, Northern were dismissed for 184 in the 41st over. Maaz Sadaqat took four wickets for 23 for the winning side.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nabi Gul unbeaten century led his side to a five-wicket win over Southern Punjab in the fifth round match of the Cricket Associations Challenge in Karachi on Sunday. In other two matches of the fifth round, Sindh defeated Northern by 92 runs, while Central Punjab overcame Balochistan by two wickets.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Southern Punjab

At the TMC Cricket Ground, after being put into bat, Southern Punjab scored 331 for eight in 50 overs courtesy Waqar Hussain’s 130. Waqar innings included 14 fours and came off 128 balls.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Irfanullah Shah bagged three wickets for 65 runs.

In the run-chase, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nabi Gul struck an unbeaten 101 off 107 balls to help his side achieve the target in the 49th over with five wickets in hand. Nabi’s innings included two fours and four sixes. Opening batter Israrullah (82, 75b, 8x4, 1x6) and Rehan Afridi (59, 55b, 5x4) scored half-centuries.

Faisal Akram picked three wickets for 54 for the losing team.

Sindh v Northern

At the KCCA Stadium, Sindh opting to bat first scored 267 for eight in 50 overs. Hasan Mohsin top-scored for his side with 53.

In return, Northern were bundled out for 175 in the 33rd over, giving Sindh a 92-run win. For Northern, Umair Masood top-scored with 69, while Nasir Nawaz chipped in with 46.

For the winning side, Mustafa Nasir bagged five wickets for 43 runs and Mohammad Taha took three for 14.

Central Punjab v Balochistan

In the third match of the fifth round, Balochistan after being asked to bat first were dismissed for 178 in the 41 overs at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground. Basit Ali scored 50 for Balochistan.

In return, Central Punjab lost eight wickets to achieve the 179-run target. Mohammad Saad returned undefeated on 53, while Bilawal Iqbal scored an unbeaten 30. The pair added an unbeaten 51 runs for the ninth wicket.

For the losing side, left-arm spinner Zubair Khan took three wickets for 31 runs. Another left-arm spinner Jalat Khan took two for 48 from 10 overs.

Central Punjab v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were bowled out for 85 in the 22nd over. Central Punjab’s Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Ali Asfand took three wickets apiece.

In reply, Central Punjab on the back of an unbeaten 28 from Abdul Samad chased down the target in the 22nd over with five wickets in hand.

Sindh v Southern Punjab

Sindh successfully achieved the 239-run target with two wickets in hand in the 48th over courtesy half-centuries from Ammad Alam and Saad Baig. For the losing side, Mohammad Junaid’s six for 55 went in vain.

Earlier, batting first, Southern Punjab managed to score 238 for eight, courtesy unbeaten 96 by Yousuf Babar. Mohammad Junaid also scored 59.

Afnan Khan for Sindh took three wickets.

Northern v Balochistan

Batting first, Northern scored 231 for nine in 50 overs. Ali Imran and Hasan Raza scored half-centuries, while Najeebullah Achakzai took three for 57.

In reply, Balochistan were dismissed for 199 in the 47th over. Basit Ali top-scored for his side with 60, while Munir Riaz took four wickets for the winning team.

Karachi, 23 December 2022: Abid Ali made 102 off 95 as Central Punjab beat Northern by seven wickets at the TMC Ground in the Cricket Association Challenge 2022-23. Central Punjab chased 235 in 37.2 overs with the right-hander smashing 11 fours and three sixes. Abdul Samad made 51 not out off 35.

Northern managed 234 for nine in 50 overs as Ali Asfand took six wickets for 52. Aqib Shah and Jamal Anwar made half-centuries.

Balochistan’s Basit Ali and Mohammad Azeem Ghumman struck a brilliant 132-run opening partnership to script seven-wicket win over Southern Punjab at the KCCA Stadium.

Basit smashed 104-ball 114 not out, hitting seven fours and five sixes. Azeem made 88 off 130.

Southern Punjab were lifted to 236 for eight by Yousuf Babar’s 115 and Ali Imran’s 65. Jalat Khan took three wickets. Gohar Faiz and Zainullah took two wickets each.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Sindh by six wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana as Maaz Sadaqat made 73 not out off 89 (nine fours and two sixes).

Sindh were bowled out for 147 in 34.2 overs. Zeeshan Ahmed took three wickets for 38. Aitzaz Habib Khan and Maaz Khan took two wickets each.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab also defeated Balochistan and Northern, respectively in the eighth round fixture.

Central Punjab v Sindh

After being put into bat, Central Punjab on the back of an unbeaten half-century by Mohammad Saad (57 not out, 91b, 1x4,3x6) scored 214 for nine in 50 overs. For Sindh, Rameez Aziz took three for 37.

In return, Sindh fell one run short of Central Punjab’s score and managed to score 213 for nine. Hasan Mohsin top-scored for his side, scoring unbeaten 59 off 82 balls, hitting five fours.

Central Punjab’s Ali Asfand took four wickets for 40.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Balochistan

Batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 255 for eight courtesy 93 by Mohammad Mohsin Khan. Nabi Gul was other notable contributor with 48 runs. For Balochistan, Jalat Khan and Zainullah bagged two wickets apiece.

In reply, Balochistan were bundled out for 197 in the 47th over. Ayaz Tasawar scored 44 for the losing side. For winning team, Zeeshan Ahmad bagged three wickets.

Southern Punjab v Northern

Batting first Southern Punjab posted 282 for nine in their 50 overs on the back of Yousaf Babar 129 innings. Yousaf’s innings included 10 fours and four sixes. Waqar Hussain scored 59.

Northern’s Aaqib Liaquat, Hasan Raza and Sufiyan Muqeem bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Northern managed to score 252 for seven in 50 overs, with skipper Ali Imran top-scoring for his side with 76. Taimoor Sultan scored 60 off 92 balls.

For the winning team, Ahmed Hasan bagged two wickets for 53.

Karachi, 27 December 2022: Central Punjab are all set to clinch the title of the Cricket Associations Challenge (One-Day event) as they continue to top the points table after the conclusion of ninth-round matches of the tournament. In today’s nine-round match, Central Punjab defeated Southern Punjab by 64 runs on the back of the century from their captain Abid Ali.

In other ninth-round fixtures, Sindh defeated Balochistan by two wickets, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overcame Northern by six wickets.

After being asked to bat first, Central Punjab posted 313 for five in 50 overs. Test cricketer and Central Punjab’s skipper Abid Ali coming to bat at number three scored a 118-ball 105, which included six fours and two sixes. He and opening batter Imran Dogar added 163 runs for the second wicket after Shawaiz Irfan’s departure for 11 with 23 runs on the board. Fahad Munir was other notable contributor with the bat, scoring 47 not out off 43 balls, smashing three fours and one six.

In return, Southern Punjab were bundled out for 249 in the 46th over. Waqar Hussain (56, 42b, 10x4) and Mohammad Basit (51, 66b, 4x4, 1x6) scored half-centuries in the losing cause.

Central Punjab’s Mohammad Waleed bagged four wickets for 49 runs in 9.4 overs. Spinners Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Ali Asfand bagged two wickets each.

Balochistan v Sindh

At the Landi Gymkhana Ground, opting to bat first, Balochistan were dismissed for 174 in the 43rd over. Azeem Ghumman top-scored for his side with a 79-ball 42, striking two fours. Sindh’s Asad Malik grabbed four wickets, while Mohammad Ali Khan and Mohammad Taha took two wickets apiece.

In return, Sindh achieved the target in the 48th over with two wickets in hand. Rameez Aziz returned unbeaten on 43 off 86 balls, hitting three fours. Balochistan’s Zainullah bagged five wickets for 40 from 10 overs, while Jalat Khan took two for 31.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Northern

At the KCCA Stadium, Northern after being put into bat scored 240 for seven in 50 overs. Aqib Shah coming to bat at number five top-scored for his side, scoring an unbeaten 111 from 129 balls, hitting 10 fours. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ahmed Khan took three wickets for 57, while Maaz Sadaqat clinched two scalps.

In reply, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chased down the target for the loss of four wickets in the 46th over. Opening batter Maaz top-scored for his side with a 102-ball 88, smashing 10 fours. Haseeb Khan scored 62 off 87 balls, laced with four fours and one six. The pair added 130 runs for the second wicket.

Mehran Ibrahim returned undefeated on 41 off 44 balls and knitted an unbroken partnership of 54 runs for the fifth wicket with Mohammad Mohsin Khan (25 not out, 22b, 2x4, 1x6).

Central Punjab complete hat-trick of titles in the second XI when they defeated Balochistan by 83 runs to lift title of Cricket Associations Challenge (One-Day event) here in Karachi on Thursday. Central Punjab, earlier this season have won Cricket Associations T20 and Cricket Associations Championship titles.

Batting first, Central Punjab were bowled out for 154 with Balochistan’s Mohammad Ibrahim Snr taking five wickets for 27. In return, Balochistan were bundled out for 71 in 24 overs. Arham Nawab bagged four wickets for the winning team.

In the second contest today, Sindh defeated Northern by 73 runs. Batting first, Sindh scored 202 in 43.5 overs with Saad Baig scoring 84.

In return, Northern were dismissed for 129 in the 46th over with Mohammad Hammad scoring 52 in the losing cause. Afnan Khan took four for 30 for the winning team.

In the fixture between Southern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the former overcame the latter by 48 runs. Batting first, Southern Punjab were bowled out for 285 in the 49th over. Moinduddin struck 116 runs.

In return, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa managed to score 237 for nine in 47.5 overs as their last batter Haseeb Khan was not available for batting. For the winning side, Uzair Mumtaz took three wickets for 51 runs.
