Crime Branch To Probe Pune Porsche Crash, Teen Driver's Father Arrested

The father of the 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car accident that killed two people has been arrested by Pune Police from Maharashtra's Aurangabad. Additionally, the owners of a couple of bars where the minor was served alcohol have also been arrested.

The accident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area. According to police reports, a luxury Porsche, driven by the 17-year-old, collided with a motorcycle, instantly killing Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. The crash, captured on CCTV, revealed the car travelling at an estimated speed of 200 kmph in a narrow lane.

The case has now been transferred to Pune Police's crime branch. While awaiting a decision from the sessions court, Pune police have charged the boy's father under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. These sections pertain to willful neglect of a child and providing intoxicating substances to a minor, respectively.

Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both IT engineers, were returning from a get-together when around 2:15 am, their bike was hit from behind by the speeding Porsche. Both of them died on the spot.

According to Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, the minor behind the wheels of the car had been celebrating his class 12 results at a local pub, where he was seen consuming alcohol before the crash. The legal drinking age in Maharashtra is 25, making it illegal for the establishment to serve him. Consequently, the bar owners are also facing charges for serving alcohol to a minor.

The aftermath of the incident has been marked by intense public outcry, particularly following the Juvenile Justice Board's decision to grant the minor bail just 15 hours after his detention. The board also imposed a series of rehabilitative conditions, including mandatory counselling, a de-addiction program, and a 300-word essay on road safety. This lenient response has been widely criticised given the severity of the accident.

In India, the motor vehicle law for riches is different than common citizens…. Salman Khan after killing 4 peoples by his car got acquitted by High Court

So was it a planned murder or an accident?

Anyways on topic, really sad news, thoughts and prayers to the victims families.

Unfortunately it’s very difficult to bring the rich to justice, the police and special branch are all corrupt. It’s upto the media and public to get the victims justice. The media is also a sellout so chances of justice are pretty slim in this case.

Bringing politics in everything rather than helping the victims get justice and changing the system. Typical politicians

This is Aswini and Anish, two IT professionals who were returning home in Pune on May 19 when an unregistered Porsche, driving at 150 km/h in Kalyani Nagar, hit them. One of them died on the spot, and the other died during medical treatment.

The driver of the car was a 17-year-old minor, allegedly returning from a club after partying with friends to celebrate their 12th-grade results.

Why this is not just an accident but a murder:

1. The car was unregistered; the showroom delivered the car without registration.
2. The parents allowed a minor to drive without a license.
3. The club owner served alcohol and admitted a minor.
4. The traffic police failed to notice an unregistered, overspeeding car on the road for months.

When the minor was arrested at midnight, he received VIP treatment. A local MLA came to his rescue, with a team of lawyers.

While common people face delays in their cases, this minor was granted bail on a Sunday in just 14 hours. The bail condition was that he should write an essay, and his parents should ensure he doesn't repeat the same mistake.

When the law is the same, why do people with privilege get treated differently?

I agree with everything but how does that make it a planned murder?

Accident - Definite Yes
Murder - Yes
Planned Murder - is stretching it

In accident cases, police generally leveled charge culpable homicide. There are some cases where it’s a planned murder, but pretended as accident

There's a video on twitter of people running towards the two bodies lying dead on the road. Pretty graphic too

Yea, saw it. Horrendous! I usually don’t hate on children but this brat deserves every bit of it. And so does his idiot father.

The open disregard of laws by the rich & the famous is not new in the sub-continent. Hopefully the public outcry results in this rich brat being tried as an adult & not getaway with a lenient rap on wrists under the juvie laws.

A few months ago in Delhi, a similar accident occurred when a husband, wife, and their child were returning from a marriage function on a scooter. A speeding car struck them, resulting in the husband and son dying at the scene.

Drunk teen driving Porsche kills 2, gets bail, asked to write essay

A day after the Juvenile Justice Board in Pune granted bail to a teenager involved in a car accident that killed two people while asking him to write a 300-word essay, the police on Monday said they will seek a higher court's permission to prosecute him as an adult accused.

"The CCL (Child in Conflict with Law) will write an essay of 300 words on the topic of road accidents and their solutions," the order read.

Can anyone believe this?

If that monster is old enough to drink, he is old enough to be tried as an adult.

Pune teen barred from driving till he's 25, Porsche was unregistered

Maharashtra Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar said the 17-year-old boy, who fatally knocked down two motorcycle-borne IT professionals with his Porsche car in Pune, will be barred from getting a driving licence till he turns 25. State transport officials have also said that permanent registration of the Porsche Taycan had been pending since March since the owner did not pay a fee of Rs 1,758.

Meanwhile, the teen was produced before a juvenile court today after a new case has been registered against him under section 185 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Earlier, a case of culpable homicide under section 304 was filed against him, but the court granted him bail within 14 hours of being detained on grounds that he was a minor.

The police have also seized a bill of Rs 48,000 from a bar where the minor had gone prior to the accident that killed the two IT professionals, identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, from Madhya Pradesh.

Bhimanwar told the PTI news agency on Tuesday that the luxury vehicle involved in Sunday's accident that took place in the city's Kalyani Nagar, won't be allowed to register at any Regional Transport Office (RTO) for 12 months as its existing temporary registration will be cancelled under provisions of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.

"When it was produced at the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO), it was found that a certain registration fee was not paid, and the owner was asked to pay the amount for completion of the procedure," he said, adding that the vehicle was sent to Pune on a temporary registration after it was imported by a Bengaluru-based dealer.

"However, the vehicle was not brought to the RTO for the completion of the registration process after that."

According to the state transport officials, road tax is exempted for electric vehicles registered in Maharashtra. The registration fees applicable for the Porsche Taycan model were only Rs 1,758, which included Rs 1,500 hypothecation fees, Rs 200 smart card RC fees and Rs 58 postal charges.

Citing their records, the officials said the vehicle had a valid temporary registration certificate issued by Karnataka with a validity of six months from March to September 2024, adding that the Bengaluru-based dealer was not at fault since he handed over the car after the temporary registration was done.

When vehicles are under the temporary registration period, they can only be used to drive to and from the RTO.

Bhimanwar told the PTI news agency that the Pune RTO had been asked to register a police complaint for violation of provisions in the MV Act.

Meanwhile, another top official of the transport department said the Porsche would be impounded for 12 months, adding that there was gross negligence in the Pune accident case as the teen was driving his luxury vehicle at a speed over 160 kmph, and allegedly in an inebriated state.

The official also referred to several violations, including driving the vehicle without a driving licence and without its registration.

Vishal Agarwal, the teen driver's father and a real estate developer who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the accident, will be produced before a Pune court today after medical tests.

Also on Wednesday, a state government hospital will publish the blood report of the teen driver, who allegedly consumed liquor before the fatal accident

Porsche teen got bail on Rs 7,500 bond, grandpa's word

'His grandfather has given an assurance that he will keep the Child-in-Conflict with Law (CCL) away from any bad company and he will concentrate on his study or any vocational course which is useful for his career. He is ready to abide by the condition imposed on him. Therefore, it is just and proper to release the CCL on bail,' said the order passed by the Juvenile Justice Board on Sunday.

While passing the order, the Board also stated the CCL is released on bail on executing his personal bond and surety bond of Rs 7,500 with conditions that his parents shall take care of him and he will never get involved in offences in future.

What exemplary punishment! I'm sure the family of the victims will be extremely satisfied with the judgement.

2-Day Police Custody For Father Of Pune Teen Who Killed 2 With Porsche

The father of the Pune teenager who rammed a Porsche into two techies, killing them on the spot, has been remanded in police custody for two days. The realtor had been arrested on Tuesday from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, where he had allegedly gone to evade the cops.

The accident took place around 2.15 am on Sunday, when the 17-year-old, who had been drinking with his friends in two pubs in Pune to celebrate his Class 12 results, knocked down the two 24-year-old IT professionals in the Kalyani Nagar area. Aneesh Awadhiya, who was riding the bike was sent flying and hit a parked car, while Ashwini Koshta - who was riding pillion - was flung 20 feet into the air. Both of them died on the spot.

At 17 years and 8 months old, the teenager was four months short of the legal age for driving and more than seven years younger than Maharashtra's legal age for drinking.

The father had been charged under Sections 75 (wilful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses) and 77 (supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs) of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Presenting the prominent builder before the Pune sessions court on Wednesday, the police sought his custody for seven days. They said he was in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and it is suspected that he may have hidden evidence, or there would have been no reason for him to hide there.

Pointing out that the car hadn't been registered despite being purchased in March, the police's lawyer also asked why that had not been done.

The government's counsel argued that the boy's father was arrested because he gave him the car knowing that he did not have a driving licence and was going to a pub.

"The car given to the boy was without a number plate. We need to get the documents of the car and details of the debit/credit card given to the child are also needed," the lawyer told the court.

India’s opposition party’s politicians always give backing to these rich and super rich kids. Opposition parties should stop taking funds from these rich families.

The lawyer who represented this kid in court is a close ally of former rashtravadi leader Sharad Pawar. That’s why this get out quickly.

When Aryan khan arrested by NCB, at that time who came first crying loud it’s Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya

The minor boy from Pune who was involved in the deadly crash that killed two people, has recently claimed that his family driver was driving the car when the accident happened. The two friends of the 17-year boy, who were with him at the time of the crash, have also backed his claims.

The teenager’s father, real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, also said that it was their family driver, who was employed by him was driving the Porsche.

A speeding Porsche allegedly driven by a teenaged son of real estate developer Vishal Agarwal hit a group of friends, who were returning on motorbikes around 3.15 am on Sunday. The accident occurred at the Kalyani Nagar junction, and claimed the lives of two riders, a man and a woman, both 24 years old.

The latest update in the case, however claims that the luxury vehicle was allegedly being driven by the family driver at the time of the crash.

The driver was questioned by the police in connection to the case and in his first statement, he claimed that he was driving the Porsche when the accident happened, an India Today report stated.

The mobile phone of Vishal Agarwal has also been recovered and efforts are underway to uncover the details of the accident.

Surendra Kumar Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy was also questioned by the crime branch on Thursday after he stood surety for the teenager’s bail and assured the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) that the minor would mend his ways.

On Wednesday, News18 had also accessed documents that showed Surendra Kumar was named in a shootout case in Pune that was registered at the Bund Garden police station and later transferred to the CBI.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has charge-sheeted the boy’s grandfather, he allegedly contracted Chhota Rajan in 2009 to execute Shiv Sena corporator Ajay Bhosale.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh-based parents of the victims have sought stringent punishment for the accused boy as well as his parents, accusing them of being responsible for the death of their children.

The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. While Ashwini hailed from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Anish belonged to Birsinghpur Pali in Umaria district of the state.

Parents Of Pune Porsche Crash Victims Demand Supreme Court Monitored Probe

Parents of two software engineers killed in a car accident in Pune demanded on Friday that the Supreme Court should monitor the probe and trial in the case.

The families have also demanded that the trial in the case should be held in Madhya Pradesh, where the victims hailed from, and not in Maharashtra.

Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24-year-old IT professionals hailing from Madhya Pradesh, died on May 19 after a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy, hit their motorcycle in Pune city.

Ashwini hailed from Jabalpur, while Anish belonged to Birsinghpur Pali in Umaria district.

Talking to PTI, Ashwini's father, Suresh Kumar Koshta, said, "The Supreme Court should monitor the investigation and trial in the case to ensure that we get justice." The accused should be tried as an adult and not as a minor, considering the serious nature of the crime, he said.

Koshta further alleged that the accused was in an inebriated condition when he ran his car over his daughter and Anish.

Following the accident, the teenager was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which granted him bail while asking him to write a 300-word essay.

After an outcry over quick bail and the police's review plea, the JJB on Wednesday remanded the teen, son of real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, to the observation home till June 5.

The police have also arrested the teenager's father.

"I am going to fight for justice till my last breath," Anish's father, Om Prakash Awadhiya, said over the phone.

The trial in the case should be held in Madhya Pradesh and not in Pune to ensure justice for the families, he said.

He alleged that the accused was given VIP treatment in the police station even though he had no driving licence.

The accident should be treated as a double murder, Awadhiya said.

"If You Talk...": What Porsche Teen's Grandfather Told Driver After Crash

The grandfather of the 17-year-old, whose late-night drunken drive in a Porsche, left two 24-year-old techies dead in Pune, had told the family driver to take the blame for the accident and threatened him against speaking about the matter to anyone.

In his statement to police, the 42-year-old driver has said that soon after the incident, he received a call from the teen's grandfather. "He first called me up and shouted at me over the phone. Then, he forcibly took me to their bungalow in their BMW car," the driver has said. The teen's father and his grandfather snatched his mobile phone, he has said. The driver was confined to the bungalow. "I was told to take the blame. He told me, 'If you talk to anyone about this, remember...'," the driver has said.

The teen's grandfather has now been arrested under charges of wrongful confinement, kidnapping and criminal intimidation.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told the media that the driver was promised a cash reward if he told the police that he was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. "Pressure was created on him. After the accident, the driver was questioned at the police station. When the questioning was over, he wanted to go home, but he (the teen's grandfather) forcibly took him to their home, snatched his phone and confined him," the top cop said.

The teen driver, said to be speeding at 200 km per hour after drinking heavily, has been sent to an observation home till June 5 as the Juvenile Justice Board considers the police plea for permission to try him as an adult. The teen's father, a prominent realtor, has been arrested under sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Two engineers -- Ashwini Kostha and Anish Awadhiya -- were on the bike when the Porsche hit their bike from behind. They died on the spot. The boy was granted bail within 15 hours of the accident on conditions seen as flimsy. He was asked to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, told to work with traffic cops for 15 days and seek counselling for his drinking habit.

Amid nationwide outrage, the Juvenile Justice Board later modified the order and sent him to the observation home.

As allegations emerged that the influential family had tried to bend legal processes to shield the teen, an underworld link came to the fore.

The teen's grandfather is an accused in an attempt to murder case in connection with a 2009 attack on a Shiv Sena corporator.

According to the CBI chargesheet filed in the case, the boy's grandfather was locked in a property dispute with his brother and had allegedly contacted Chhota Rajan to mediate. The gangster got in touch with Sena corporator Ajay Bhosale, who knew the brother. But Mr Bhosale was busy with the Assembly polls and refused to intervene. The boy's grandfather suspected that the Sena leader was backing his brother and allegedly asked Chhota Rajan to bump him off, the CBI chargesheet said. Mr Bhosale's car was fired at near Pune's Koregaon Park, but the bullet missed him and hit his driver instead, injuring him.

Mr Bhosale, now with the Eknath Shinde-led Sena, has told NDTV that his 'supari' was given by the builder, who is not being named because the accused in the Porsche case is a minor. The grandfather was also listed as an accused in the chargesheet, but not arrested. The attempt to murder case is now part of a bunch of cases against Chhota Rajan pending before a Mumbai CBI court.

Pune Teen's Mother Arrested In Porsche Crash Case In Which 2 Techies Died

In the latest development in the Pune Porsche crash case, Pune police have arrested the mother of the teen accused of running over two people while driving the luxury car. The mother swapped her blood sample in order to prove that her son wasn't drunk when the accident occurred, police said.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said the accident investigation has revealed that the minor's blood samples were replaced with those of his mother.

Two techies were killed on May 19 in Pune's Kalyani Nagar after a Porsche allegedly being driven by the drunk minor rammed into their two wheeler.

While the 17-year-old minor has been sent to an observation home, his father and grandfather have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping the family's driver and putting pressure on him to take the blame.

The investigation revealed efforts by the influential family to cover up the crime. They first tried to convince their family driver to take the blame for the chilling crash in lieu of cash. When he denied, they kidnapped him and kept forcing him to confess.

There were also irregularities in the 17-year-old's medical examination at the state-run Sassoon Hospital and the Maharashtra Medical Education had appointed a three-member committee headed by Dr Pallavi Sapale, dean of Mumbai-based Grants Medical College, to look into the matter.

The teen's mother had earlier appeared in a video message in which she had said that a viral video purportedly featuring her son was fake. She had also appealed to the police to "protect" her son and broke down on camera.

Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Kostha, 24-year-old engineers from Madhya Pradesh, were killed when a speeding Porsche hit their bike late on May 19. The teen, alleged to be driving the car drunk, was out on bail within 15 hours on conditions widely described as flimsy -- he was asked to write a 300-word essay, told to work with traffic cops for 15 days and seek treatment for his drinking habit.

Amid growing outrage, the Juvenile Justice Board modified its order and sent him to an observation home till June 5, as a decision is taken on the police plea for permission to try the teen as an adult.
