good luck to both the teams ... apart from expecting a good match, i might just end up supporting pak like i did in the first match ... a soft corner becoz of their lack of key players i guess ... :)

Cant wait for it to start. i suppose this thread shows that i'm not the only one. Will rana play? Will we add an extra bat? Will we give arafat a chance? excitement excitement!

yaar dhoom machado aaj! i wanna see moyo blaze, bond destroy and razzaq dominate!

first possibility of a balanced match up.

Why the hell would you want to see Bond destroy us?

Looking forward to this match. Extremely important for both teams (moreso for New Zealand). Pakistani openers will have to give a flying start if we bat first. The key will be our bowling IMO. If we are able to restrict NZ to a small total then we have a better chance of winning

OK back to the topic:

From CrBuz.com

We should rename the tournament as Do-or-Die perhaps. Another such match awaits us as New Zealand takes on Pakistan. Pakistan though are sitting pretty with a win already under their belt, the Kiwis have to win to survive. Again if the Pakistanis beat the Proteas too, then the second spot of Group B is thrown wide open too.

The Kiwis started their campaign with a thumping win against the Proteas but they were soon grounded by the Lankans. Now after a bit of regrouping they will have to fight back and put their best foot forward. Bond didn't quite do justice to his potential last time around and that might be a cause of concern for the Kiwis. But the spinners are doing a good job for them.

The Pakistanis have shown great spirit by shrugging off all the controversies and going ahead with the resources at hand. They won a magnificent match against the tournament favorites Sri Lanka and now are looking in great shape.

It will be interesting to see how things unfold. As in this tournament, the moment a team has looked good, it has come back to square one and the moment a team has looked down and out, it has surprisingly bounced back, of course, England being an exception. To find out if the pattern remains the same, join us at 09:00 GMT for all the action LIVE!!!

New Zealand: Lou Vincent, Stephen Fleming (c), Nathan Astle, Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum (w), Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Shane Bond, Jeetan Patel, Peter Fulton, James Franklin, Mark Gillespie

Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Younis Khan (c), Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (w), Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Rao Iftikhar, Umar Gul, Faisal Iqbal, Abdur Rehman, Yasir Arafat

^ another 45 minutes or so ...

So what you guys think.. win the toss bat or bowl ???

I wanna see a Bond specail today, just like he did vs AUS and IND! He may expose Paks weakness in technique, in the top order. If he can destroy accomplished batsman from AUS and IND, what makes PAK different? Besides, PAK havn't been known to play pace bowling well.

Are conditions expected to be so favourable for seamers that NZ can afford to leave out Patel who's been one of their best bowlers?

Not disappointed to see him out of the team just surprised.

Lee has a pretty poor record against us. Bond has only played one match in which he could manage just one wicket. Any other pace bowlers you would like to mention?

That would be Aa[Q]a with a Qaaf pls :25:
maafi sarkar, but i know as much urdu as a martian does.

the pitch, seems to be a lot more insipid than the exploding tracks at bombay so that is some consecion. wonder if bond will be threatening or just easy pickings with ball coming onto the bat.

We can always hope its a green top in the first innings, and a flat track in the 2nd?

Maybe theres little elves underneath the pitch, that'll take off the grass

bowling first because of the dew factor, Fleming said he would've done the same, plus as Asim says we've been better at chasing recently.

New Zealand make 2 changes - Hamish Marshall and Jeetan Patel are out, Peter Fulton and James Franklin come in

Ramiz said Pakistan would feel at home, the borders only 100 miles away :))) :)))

Thank god he's out. He's been a liability for months.

This is the same ground Kamran and Razzaq saved us on the 2005 tour - 1st test.

Memories coming back?

NO THATS NOT HOME, THATS INDIA HOME IS PAKISTAN TELL HIM TO SHUT UP

These pitch reports are so boring for this tournament

Just tell us if its flat or not, and whats a good total

Geez.... :(

The pitch looks much better than at other venues and should produce more runs and offer greater help to the quick bowlers. The groundsman has mown the outfield down from 10mm to 5mm to try to counteract the impact the dew will have. A wetting agent (ADSA 80 for those who care) has also been applied to the outfield which, in theory, will mean that when the dew forms it will slide down the blade of the grass rather than sit on top.

Sadly, the stands are as empty as they have been almost throughout this tournament. But given the prices being asked for tickets, is anyone surprised?

:))) :))) :)))

Cricinfo having a rant about BCCI

The real reason Jeetan Patel was dropped:

Fleming has done his scouting and he knows our players are easily confused. He dropped Patel because he didn't want us to think we were playing India and give the team extra motivation.

My opinion - new ball should be shared with Rana and Razzaq, not Rao. Rao is more first change to me..
