For me this is getting to the point of the Lebron vs Jordan debate.

Yes a flame that burns at 110% for 13 years is absolutely incredible but it's only so long before a flame that burns at 90% for 20 years overtakes the flame that shined oh so bright. At a certain point even the radiance of the brightest flame is outclassed by a flame that just won't quit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest Steyn fan and he was my favorite bowler growing up, but what Anderson has been able to do for the amount of time he's been able to do it is incredible. This question of who the better test bowler is, is a lot closer now as compared to 5/6 years ago. I would still lean towards Steyn but it's much much closer than what I thought 6 years ago.

Not true, while this may have been true early on in Jimmy's Career since 2010 his average outside of England is 27 with 194 wickets in 57 matches.

It's only early on his career when he was abysmal outside of England as from his debut to 2009 he averaged 45 in 17 matches picking up 44 wickets. But tbf facing that Australian/Indian/Sri Lankan batting lineup in their home conditions would have been tough for any bowler let alone a young bowler still learning. In that stretch from 2003-2009 even in England, Anderson averaged 30.

2003-2009 Anderson and 2010-Present Jimmy Anderson are 2 completely different bowlers, he's certainly been effective wherever he's bowled since 2010. While he does dominate at home since 2010 he averages 22 at home and 27 away, not much of a dip if you ask me. An ATG bowler, who still doesn't get the respect he deserves imo.

Of course there is something to be said for longevity, but in the years Steyn was at his peak, he was an entirely different beast to Anderson.
