I can't believe how well Meesha has sung this classic.

Almost felt like I was listening to the original one.

The range and control of her voice was spectacular. Rarely have I ever heard someone sing a classic as perfectly as this.

I'd personally rate this performance as Meesha's best ever.

What do you guys think?

That's a good one. It sounded almost like the late Iqbal Bano herself, of the 1970 vintage, was on CS. Knowing Iqbal Bano and what a staunch traditionalist she was, this was about the closest we can get to seeing and listening to her in a westernized setting.

This song was close to Meesha's heart, because her grandfather was a friend of Faiz, so to sing a Faiz poem must've meant something.

Another interesting aspect of this song was Sikandar Mufti on drums. He's a fine drummer, but Season 5 had Farhad Humayun on drums. However, Farhad and Meesha had had a bitter falling out over her role in Overload after she found success as a solo performer. When the lineup for Season 5 was announced, I was curious if he would play on her songs. There was a precedent: prior to Season 2, Noori had parted ways with Gumby, but Gumby being the professional he is, played on their songs. In the Farhad-Meesha case, it didn't happen. I remember pestering a friend of mine (Adnan Malik), who was part of the production team, about whether we would see Meesha and Farhad on the same songs or if Sikandar Mufti would sit in, and he didn't spill the beans but I felt vindicated afterwards ;)

Where is Gumby nowadays? He's surely among the best drummers we've ever had.

Brilliant, one of the most underrated Coke Studio songs.

Her voice is perfect for this song.

She's an amazing singer, I quiet liked her in WAAR as well

I have watched the original sung and that was amazing.

I feel that the newer singers feel the need to bring in more musicians - really dont need it - let the singer show us their voice's magic. Musicians are not needed.

I believe he's given up on performing for televised commercial ventures. Last I heard was his collaboration with Abu Muhammad (of Fareed Ayaz fame), but I'm not sure if any of the work was released.
