And the denials come through

==

ISLAMABAD: No one representing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif met army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said Wednesday.

In an informal conversation outside the Islamabad High Court, a journalist asked Maryam if the "establishment" and the PML-N leadership had come to "an agreement" since Nawaz's speeches along with hers were aired on television.

"Maybe the media should tell us why our speeches are being broadcast," she responded, saying "tyranny and pressure tactics" only work to a certain extent and are not always fruitful.

The PML-N leader denied knowledge of a dinner being hosted at the General Headquarters (GHQ), adding however, "I believe the political leadership was called over to discuss the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan".

She said that Nawaz has a heart condition and that she was not in favour of such a meeting.

"Gilgit-Baltistan is a political issue," she said, adding that "it should be resolved in the parliament, not at the GHQ".

"Neither should the GHQ summon the political leadership on such matters nor should the political leadership go there," Maryam said.

In response to another question on Khawaja Asif's presence in the meeting and whether he had raised the issue of rigging in the 2018 elections, Maryam said: "The rigging had already taken place three months before the general elections."

When a reporter asked if PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif was forming a "Sheen League", she said the former Punjab chief minister is "a very loyal brother" and would "never go his own way".

"If Shehbaz had to separate [himself from the PML-N], he would have been the prime minister today. Shehbaz gave preference to his brother for the role," she added.

'PML-N met top army brass twice'
Railways minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, however, refuted Maryam's claims, claiming there was not one but two meetings between PML-N leaders and the top military brass.

They "had two meetings with the army chief", Rashid said in a conversation with Geo News, adding that "the day Maryam speaks the truth will be the last day of her political career".

The railways minister went on to claim that "Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal had one-on-one meetings with the army chief (Gen Bajwa) and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (the director-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)".

"In the first meeting, Shehbaz Sharif and I dined at the same table. The first meeting was five hours long and the second meeting went on for three hours and 15 minutes," he said,

"Ahsan Iqbal was present in both meetings with the military leadership," he added, noting that although the gathering was held for a discussion on the Gilgit-Baltistan issue, "politics was discussed openly".

The minister said he waited till the end because "I had to give my book to the army chief and that's when I saw Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Asif having a one-on-one conversation with Gen Faiz".

"This was the first instance of 'Sheen' separating from the 'Noon'," he said, referring to talks of a new faction of the PML-N under party president Shehbaz.

On the other hand, PML-N's Ahsan Iqbal, also invited by Geo News to speak, denied Rashid's claims of a one-on-one meeting with the army chief.

"I know of one meeting between the army chief and the parliamentary leaders which I attended.

"The meeting was held in one hall, all the delegates were present there, and the topic [of discussion] was Gilgit-Baltistan," Iqbal said.

Civil-military huddle
A meeting took place last week between civil and military leadership, news of which emerged on Monday.

According to reports, parliamentary leaders were told that the army should not be dragged into parties' political rivalries, with military leaders conveying clearly that the army was “not involved, directly or indirectly, in any political process of the country”.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director-General of Inter Services Intelligence Lt Gen Faiz Hameed. Gilgit-Baltistan's administrative affairs were also on the meeting's agenda.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif, appearing yesterday on Geo News programme "Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath", made several interesting revelations about what was discussed.

Speaking on Geo News programme "Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath", Asif said the leaders of all political parties with presence in the National Assembly and Senate had been invited to discuss Gilgit-Baltistan's future with the army chief.

"I can say this with authority [that] there was absolutely no conversation on the NAB," he said, referring to Pakistan's anti-graft watchdog, the National Accountability Bureau.

"Whoever reported this to the media is absolutely wrong," he said, adding, however, that the conversation had strayed from the main agenda — Gilgit-Baltistan — after PPP Senator Sherry Rehman complained that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not present at the meeting.

"That's when the conversation turned towards why the army has to interfere in political matters; basically because politicians concede that space — that's where it went," Asif recalled.

"After [that conversation], the prime minister's absence [from the meeting] becomes a sort of testament that if he had been there and had taken charge of the situation, then the army chief or the military would not have had to invite the parliamentary leaders to discuss the issue [of Gilgit Baltistan] and it could have been discussed somewhere within one of the parliamentary rooms.

"The army chief discussed a lot of things but I want to maintain the decorum of the meeting and do not wish to discuss them here as they are not for public consumption and I do not wish to present them with a political angle," Asif said.

(Karachi) Director General Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar said Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stated that all legal matters will be resolved through courts while the political matters will be resolved in the parliament.

Speaking during a programme on a private TV channel on Wednesday, he said that army chief held two meetings on the request of former Punjab governor Muhammad Zubair. "The first meeting was held in the last week of August while the other was held on September 7," he stated. He said DG ISI was also present in the meetings.

Both meetings were related to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, he said. During the meetings, the army chief made it clear that army has no role in politics and all issues related to politics will be resolved in the parliament while those related to judiciary will be addressed in courts, Iftikhar said.

Regarding the polio campaign, Iftikhar said the polio campaign was disrupted due to coronavirus pandemic. He maintained that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attended the polio drive.

"We will make Pakistan polio-free by 2021," he remarked.

To a question related to Indian aggression and ceasefire violation along LoC, the DG ISPR said that Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to give a befitting response to any misadventure from Indian side.

Lol, the APC has failed disasterously, you just know it and NS speech screwed everyone over especially his brother, daughter and nephew

This brings back memories of the 90s, where the opposition would make a beeline for Rawalpindi, hoping to rope in the COAS in their latest scheme to topple the government. It didn’t matter who was in power or who was in opposition, both sides (because there were really only two sides then) did it. Later on, they would trade accusations about having dragged the military into politics when in opposition while decrying it in government.

If reports are true, the PMLN must be condemned for having resorted to these maneuvers again. However, a question that was asked in the 90s should be asked again: if the meeting took place, why did the COAS acquiesce to it? Couldn’t he simply refuse to meet them?

So as always the Sharifs pretending to be inqalabi to their dumb followers in public, whilst spending their evenings boot polishing in private. The Humiliation today should be enough to convince even the most stupidest of their supporters that they are being treated like rubbish.

Lol so DG ISPR decided to make public a so called private meeting where they specifically stated that relief was sought and where they told the people with a begging bowl to get lost? And they discussed all the political economic issues in the country but not Ganja?

Why the h-ll COAS accepted the meeting request ? Did he not know what Zubair will ask for ? Then what was the purpose of the meeting . Unless it was a deal which didn;t go through.

Don't think the COAS is going to refuse a polite meeting.

More pressure on PPP who will now realise they have no support from PMLn. Lesser bargaining control over 1100 Billion Package for Karachi.

Its the Noora way. Lies lies and more lies.

Sharif would do anything to come back to power.

Every bit of his narrative is complete rubbish. If any person can bring total civilian supremacy it is IK because he is the only one trusted to put PK 1st. The army know these bitchu would sell PK for a rp for their personal benefit if they could.

All we need know is a Presidential system and an amended 18th with real powers for the local govt and PK can start to come out of this terrible malaise.

I have said it million times on PP and will say it again, ANYONE who think Sharif has some "INQILAABI" cells in his body is absolutely delusional and stupid. Sharif has ALWAYS used such tactics and his whole fight has NOTHING to do with democracy or civilian supremacy. He hates being challenged and is used to getting preferential treatment and gets upset when he doesn't get it.

His fight for the last 2 years is not why Army interfered in Panama case but rather why they didn't bail him out like they always did.

Nawaz bans party members from holding private meetings with military leadership

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said from now on no one from his party will hold individual, private or delegation-level meetings with the country’s military leadership.

If necessitated by national security or constitutional requirements, such meetings in the future will be approved by the party’s leadership and will be made public, he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

This is just the kinda thread where [MENTION=131701]Mamoon[/MENTION] [MENTION=135038]Major[/MENTION] and all other jiyalas and Nooras disappear as if they never existed :))

Like I said in the APC thread, PPP and PML-N are finished. They can't do anything except clutch at straws. The Army has shown both of them the door numerous times and stands on the same page with the PTI government. This is perfect.
PML-N unravelling slowly but surely

What a circus!

If the military can keep making deals with these “criminals and looters” for personal benefit, why can’t they do the same?

Remember - in spite of Imran’s narrative of keeping these people in jail and delivering justice, Bajwa was happy to make a deal with PMLN to free Nawaz in exchange for their signature on the Army Amendment Act.

Bajwa’s desperation to hold onto power was more important than supporting Imran and delivering justice.

PTI and the army are on the same page but the page number is decided by the army. It is not a partnership; it is a slave-master relationship.

PTI youth brigade is deluding themselves if they think that PMLN and PPP have no future. These parties are built on family dynasties which means that they will always survive.

On the other hand, PTI will evaporate into dust once Imran is gone. It is a fake party with no long-term sustainability. All these lotas who have jumped on the PTI bandwagon to save their political careers will go back to where they came from or break PTI into smaller factions.

PTI exists as long as Imran is alive.

Those blaming Zubair need to step back and appreciate the bigger picture.

All this incident does is tell you who is really in charge of Pakistan and what the balance of power really is.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said the opposition wanted to create a rift between the government and armed forces, claiming that he had been aware of politicians’ meetings with army leadership.

The prime minister in a meeting with news directors of some private TV channels said he had no fear of the opposition, as he would go for by-elections in the country if all opposition members gave resignation from the assemblies.

When contacted, a participant of the meeting said Mr Khan was asked if he knew about politicians’ meetings with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed last week. The premier replied he always knew about such meetings as well as about the recent particular meeting.

The prime minister, however, refused to comment on the meeting in which, according to the railways minister, top opposition leaders including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari were present. “I [am] always aware of such meetings but what I can say about the people who meet military leadership in secret,” the prime minister was quoted as saying.

Asked whether he was invited to the meeting or not, Mr Khan explained that the meeting was actually called from security point of view to brief the heads of political parties taking part in upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. “I have no need to attend the meeting because it was security related,” the prime minister said.

“Secondly, I did not want to sit with the opposition leaders who always tried to blackmail the government over even the recent legislation on Financial Action Task Force-related bills in the parliament,” Mr Khan declared. The opposition was not happy to see “unprecedented” harmony between the government and the army he said, adding that they wanted to create a rift between the civil-military leadership. “Army does 100 per cent what I ask it. Army honoured my decision on different important issues like return of Indian pilot Abhinandan to India, opening of Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims, policies on Afghanistan and India etc,” he said.

Mr Khan said the army followed the manifesto of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) because its leadership was not corrupt. However, he rejected the impression that the PTI government came into power with the army’s help. However, he added, “Whereas the army had laid foundations of both PML-N and PPP.”

Answering another question, Mr Khan said he would not give any National Reconciliation Ordinance-like relief to the “corrupt politicians” and would hold by-elections if the opposition gave resignations from assemblies.

He was of the opinion that the [major] opposition parties always took Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman with them, because their followers would not take to the streets.

The prime minister said former president Pervez Musharraf had committed a blunder by giving NRO to the politicians, paving the way of unprecedented corruption for one decade.

About the recent speech of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif aired through video link from London, Mr Khan said he allowed airing of his (Nawaz’s) speech on TV channels to “give a level-playing field” to the opposition. “I would have been blamed for subjugating the right of speech if I had not allowed media to televise his speech,” he said. But the opposition party leader was toeing an agenda of India that was why his speech was given a lot of media coverage in the neighbouring country, the prime minister said.

“Nawaz Sharif always blackmailed the army that was why he could not maintain good relations with such institutions, but now our government and the army have unprecedented harmony and this always irritates the opposition,” he added.

Talking about the Gilgit Baltistan assembly elections in November, Mr Khan said India wanted to create unrest in GB and spending a lot of money to meet its nefarious designs.

He said India also wanted to create a sectarian crisis in Pakistan by killing religious leaders of Shia and Sunni sects of Islam. He claimed that two groups from Islamabad had been busted recently, as they intended to kill religious leaders belonging to the two sects.

About the sugar “mafia”, Mr Khan said the government was taking stern action against the sugar barons involved in the sugar crisis so that they could not increase price of the commodity in future.

About the recent increase in the prices of 94 life-saving drugs, Mr Khan backed the decision and said their prices had not been increased for over 15 years, with the result that they had vanished from the market. “Now the supply of these medicines will improve,” he said.

PML-N bars members from meeting military personnel; says may cause undue controversies

In line with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif's directives last week, the party issued a circular on Tuesday barring all members from meeting any personnel from the armed forces and its related agencies in a personal or official capacity.

If, however, such a meeting is necessary "in the interest of national security and/or fulfillment of constitutional responsibilities, then it shall be done indiscreetly and with the prior permission of the party's Quaid", said PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal in the circular.

Last week, Nawaz Sharif barred members from holding individual, private or delegation-level meetings with the country's military leadership without prior permission of the party leadership.

The directives were issued by the former prime minister a day after an army spokesman disclosed that former Sindh governor Mohammad Zubair had twice reached out to Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed the political and legal woes of Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in the past few weeks.

In the circular issued today, Iqbal said the party was fighting the battle for Pakistan's survival.

"Our stance is based solely on national interests for constitutional supremacy in the country and remains above political and personal concerns," he said, adding that he had been instructed by Nawaz to convey the party's policies regarding meetings with the military leadership.

"The PML-N is of the firm view that such meetings, even though conducted in good faith, may cause undue controversies. We all know that the contents of such meetings may be selectively leaked in order to serve specific interests and malign the political fraternity."

He added that while Nawaz had noted the "overwhelming response" from the party and the public as expressed at the PPP-hosted multiparty conference, he expected strong and unwavering support from the party leadership during a time when the country is passing through a "defining democratic crisis".

Relations between the PTI-led government and opposition have become more tense in recent days after the latter held a conference where they announced a wide-ranging anti-government movement and criticised the military's interference in politics. Following the conference on Sep 21, in which Nawaz had bitterly criticised the army for interfering in politics, a number of revelations came to the fore regarding civil-military meetings.

Most notably, it was disclosed that Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa and head of the Inter-Services Int*elligence Lt Gen Faiz Hameed had held a meeting with key opposition figures days before their multiparty conference and cou*n*selled them to refrain from dragging the military into political issues.

Prime Minister Imran reportedly said he was aware of the meetings, and accused the opposition of wanting to create a rift between the government and the armed forces.

Pertinent to mention after the APC there was a Twitter trend #ImSelectorOfPMIK that ran for over 200k tweets (might be more I stopped checking) and was the top Twitter trend in Pakistan for 2-3 days. The majority might be silent but it is not deaf and dumb. When it does speak then the voice comes out loud and clear.

Those barking 'selected selected' should have gotten their answer.

17 million people voted for PTI, highest in Pakistan's history. No wonder the jiyalas and patwaris are licking each others wounds. They got dumped in the trash by the silent majority.

The "i liked status quo" lobby aren't bothered

PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said on Friday that opposition parties had decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the assets owned by PM's aide Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa and his family.

“The opposition has decided that we will go to the Supreme Court and request it to make a JIT like the ones made before,” Khokhar told SAMAA TV's anchorperson Amber Shamsi. “Lawyers are preparing [the petition] and hopefully as soon as the petition is drafted, we will go there.”

Opposition parties have been demanding an investigation against Bajwa after the publishing of a story that claimed that Bajwa’s family had set up 99 companies in four countries, including a pizza franchise with 133 restaurants.

The website, FactFocus, claimed that his wife is a “shareholder” in at least 86 companies. Of them, 71 were set up in the US, seven in the UAE and four in Canada.

Bajwa has rejected the story on his family’s assets as “incorrect” and “false”. The PM's aide said last month that all adverse insinuations levelled in the news item were “materially false”.

PM Khan appears to be satisfied with his aide’s explanation. During an interview with SAMAA TV’s Nadeem Malik, the premier said that Bajwa had produced a detailed document with answers to the allegations levelled against him.

“An allegation was leveled against him and he produced a detailed document with answers,” PM Khan told Malik. “If anyone disputes it, give it to us and we will get it investigated.”

Fawad Chaudhry, the minister for science and technology in PM Khan’s cabinet, told Shamsi that opposition leaders should approach the Federal Investigation Agency if they believed Bajwa should be investigated.

“If Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and someone else think that an investigation is needed, then they are more than welcome to file an application to the FIA,” Chaudhry said. “The FIA will investigate it.”

‘Nawaz should return to Pakistan on his own’

The Islamabad High Court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif last month in Al-Azizia case. The government wants him to return to Pakistan and face the courts.

PM Khan himself has said that the Pakistani government will seek the UK government’s help in bringing Nawaz back.

But there appears to be no legal way to seek the UK’s assistance in this regard.

“There is no extradition treaty between Pakistan and the UK,” Chaudhry admitted. He, however, said that governments in Pakistan and the UK recently cooperated with each other in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

“He (Nawaz) should return on his own,” Chaudhry said. “It's his moral responsibility.”

He said the former prime minister looked healthy and he was “exploring new restaurants every day and taking long walks” in London.

“He should take a plane and come back to Pakistan to lead the movement,” the minister said.

Musadik Malik, a senator from the Sharif-led PML-N, told Shamsi that his leader intended to come back to Pakistan but not before completion of his medical treatment.

“He will definitely come back after his treatment is completed,” Senator Malik said. Nawaz needed to undergo a surgery but it couldn’t be conducted due to the coronavirus crisis, he said.

After the surgery, he said, Nawaz would come back and lead the PML-N's anti-government movement.
But Khokhar believes that PM Khan's government can’t make the UK government force Nawaz to return.

He said that Sharif’s lawyer could show the UK authorities Pakistani court verdicts and European Union’s reports stating that Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau was being used as a tool for “political engineering”.

“The government's case will collapse if Nawaz Sharif's lawyers present these reports,” Khokhar said.

PML-N’s leader who met COAS Bajwa appointed Nawaz, Maryam’s spokesperson

The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) has appointed former Sindh governor Mohammad Zubair as the spokesperson of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

The PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb announced this on Monday. She said Zubair has been appointed as a spokesperson on Nawaz’s instructions. She further said that a spokespersons’ committee would also be formed under the guidance of the party’s primary spokesperson and central information secretary.

Dr Mussadiq Malik, Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Talal Chaudhry, Uzma Bukhari and Ataullah Tarar will be part of the committee.

The former governor’s appointment comes after Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DGISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar revealed that Zubair twice met the army chief in August and then on September. He said the meeting was held on Zubair’s request.

In the meetings Zubair talked about Nawaz and Maryam, the DG ISPR added.

Later, the former governor also confirmed his meetings saying that he had gone to discuss economic issues. “Of course, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, all came under discussion. No relief was ever requested,” he tweeted.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday hinted at the possibility of a dialogue between her party and the army from the platform of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) — an alliance of 11 opposition parties — but said that for any such talks to happen, they would have to be held in front of the public and not in secret after the "selected government had been sent home".

In an interview with BBC Urdu, Maryam revealed that members of the security establishment had reached out to "many people around me but nobody has directly contacted me".

On a question whether she was ready to hold talks with the current army leadership, whom the PML-N supremo and her father, Nawaz Sharif has accused of being behind his "ouster" as prime minister, Maryam said that the "possibility of initiation of dialogue from the PDM's platform could be thought about but after the selected government had been sent home".

"The army is our institution. We will definitely talk but within the limits of the Constitution. Talks will be held within the limits prescribed by the Constitution and it will be in front of the public, not in secret."

Maryam said that she was not "against the institution but if we are to move forward, the selected government will have to go".

The PML-N vice president said she was ready to talk to "all stakeholders". However, when asked whether she would talk to the incumbent government of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam said that "the dialogue will be held with the people of Pakistan. It is being held with the people of Pakistan and it is going so well that the forces and the fake government are worried.

"They are so worried they don't know how to react and they're making such mistakes in their confusion that the mind is shocked," she said, adding that the people of the nation were the "real stakeholders".

'PML-N's politics not going towards dead-end'
In response to another question, Maryam said that the PML-N's politics was not headed towards a dead-end. Instead, she continued, the ones going towards a dead-end were those who had tried to make this temporary [government].

"Wherever we are going, whether it be Gujranwala, Karachi, Quetta or Gilgit Baltistan, only one narrative is echoing: vote ko izzat do (honour the vote) and riyasat ke upar riyasat mat banao (do not make a state above the state).

She added that the public had seen where this was going, which was not towards a dead-end but towards the supremacy of the Constitution and the law.

With regards to PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's remarks that he was waiting for PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to bring forth evidence of his claims that the army interfered in elections, Maryam said her father had said the words but the evidence was in front of the public.

In an interview last week, Bilawal had said he was "shocked" when Nawaz named Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Jawed Bajwa and Chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Faiz Hameed for being behind his ouster as premier, "bringing Imran Khan into power" and making a "state above a state".

However, he went on to say that Nawaz — who has served as the country's prime minister thrice — would not have taken the names of Gen Bajwa and Gen Faiz without evidence.

He said he would "wait for Nawaz to bring forward evidence supporting his claims".

During today's interview, Maryam said: "The reality of Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Judge Arshad Malik and Dawn Leaks is in front of you. When you do not extend the tenure of [an army] chief, they start talking about something based on falsehood such as Dawn Leaks."

She emphasised that both the PML-N and the PPP had their own stance and the PML-N's stance was clarified by Nawaz Sharif.

'Karachi incident' report
Regarding the recent inquiry report on the alleged kidnapping of the Sindh inspector general of police in order to force him to sign the arrest warrant for her husband, retired Captain Mohammad Safdar, she said people had not gotten their answers. Rather, more questions had been raised.

"You are telling the people that some overzealous officers did this under pressure from the public's reaction. What public reaction was there? Those fake people who registered the case and then ran away, those three, four people are what you call public pressure?" she questioned.

She said that according to the Constitution, it was not the job of the institutions to give a reply to public reaction but the government's.

"The responsibility of institutions is to fulfill their professional responsibilities, not show overzealousness. Their work is not emotions but fulfilling their constitutional and professional obligations. If someone did in fact do this out of emotions, then it is a huge moment of reflection for the institution and Pakistan."

However, she said she "did not believe that such a thing happened. I believe some junior officers were sacrificed. It is very sad."

'Imran Khan not a 'real problem'
During the interview, Maryam declined to comment about a "minus-Imran formula", saying it would be seen when the time came for it. She termed it a "sin" to hold talks with the incumbent government, saying that Imran Khan's government would have to go in order to take the country out of a recession, new and fair elections would have to be held and a representative of the people would have to be chosen to lead the country.

She said that she did not consider Imran Khan or the people around him a "real problem" because she did not think they were political people. "My party and I are against the thought that they represent," she said, adding that they represented everything that has to be erased from the country.

"Therefore, I consider any alliance with PTI equivalent to forgiving them which is not fair," she said. "I think it is time for their accountability not for an alliance with them now that they have been weakened."

Maryam, however, said that talks could be held with other political parties.

GB's provincial status
When asked whether the PML-N would support the PTI government in drafting legislation to give Gilgit-Baltistan the status of a province, Maryam said "just like with other projects, the PTI has also given their name to [the decision to grant GB provincial status]".

"The people know whose plan this was," she said, while expressing the hope that the people of GB would show confidence in the PML-N, who would not only turn the region into a province but also oversee the constitutional amendments needed to give it its fair share in the NFC (National Finance Commission) award."

She claimed that the PTI government would not bring the matter to Parliament but the PML-N would since it was only their promise.

Responding to allegations that she talks mostly about herself or her father in her speeches, Maryam said: "Wherever I go, I see supporters of Nawaz Sharif. If I don't tell them what they have come to hear, what the whole of Pakistan wants to hear, what should I talk about?

"I do not even want to take Imran Khan's name but he represents everything that should not be in this country. So when I talk about the inflation in prices of flour, sugar, gas and electricity, who else can I name but Imran Khan? And the biggest problem of the people is that their vote has been stolen."

Maryam alleged that the PTI government itself made items disappear from the market and brought them back at more expensive rates.

The economic situation cannot be improved at the hands of these inefficient people. This is what happens when the vote is stolen, she concluded.

Rumors say a deal has already been made with the PPP. They will no longer criticise the military. As a result of this deal, Zardari will be given bail soon!

I see the same happening to Maryam too! She will also be thrown a bone.

So the paragons of democracy that is the Sharif family first used ISI in the 90s to overthrow Benazir and now are angling to do the same to another elected government.

The same party where leadership is handed down son to daughter.

What great leaders of democracy we have in PMLN.
