Did the IPL Logo draw inspiration from Mashrafe Mortaza’s iconic 2007 World Cup shot?

Many fans point to a striking similarity between the logo and a famous shot played by Mashrafe Mortaza during the 2007 ICC World Cup. The resemblance in body posture, bat swing, and follow-through is hard to ignore here. If this is true, then IPL logo should be changed because we don't want anything to do with Bangladesh cricket and their players. :inti @sweep_shot

Yes this is very likely completely factual.

Mashrafe Mortaza, The Narial Express, played a glorious shot, and it was immortalised.

IPL should pay royalties to Government of Bangladesh.

I wonder if, as further expression of gratitude, GoI can declare Mortaza (who is a former MP) as the political successor to Sheikh Hasina?

Start a new Bangla Liberation Army headquartered in Siliguri, with this logo on their flag.

Won't be surprised if this is true. Their movie industry is famous for copying hit movies all around the world and presenting as their original

That’s a kind of shot that many players have played. You can probably find a shot or two like that from Misbah or Afridi or someone else from any other team too. It is a pretty generic pose, not a pose or shot initiated by a specific player.

To detail it further, The IPL logo was designed by a professional branding agency (VentureThree, UK) ahead of the 2008 season to capture the energy, dynamism, and excitement of T20 cricket, not to depict a specific player.

To conclude, there is no official evidence that the IPL logo was literally copied from Mashrafe Mortaza’s 2007 shot. It’s a fan theory and visual coincidence backed by comparisons and speculation. The most credible explanation is that the logo was designed as a generic dynamic cricket pose, not a trace-for-trace of one exact photograph.

Definitely it is. I seen this before. Wow! Are they gonna be offended using a Bangladeshi muslim cricketers pose as IPL logo?
:lol oh wait maybe the Hindutva extremists narrow minded gits still dont know about it yet.

Having worked in marketing, let me burst your bubble here.

Professional branding companies and advertising companies copy designs from other places. Nothing they make is unique, its always someone copying or taking inspiration from someone.

Doesnt matter if you are based in UK, and if u use the word professional.

Wait, so you are telling that cult BCCI did what every cult member has been doing since dot - stealing?

Pakistani players are banned from IPL since 2009 - 17 years and counting.

But the Indian Premier League logo is older than that. Anyway, what do Pakistani players have to do with this thread? Is this just another attempt to derail the discussion because you can't prove the OP wrong? :inti

For a guy who claim to not watch IPL, you stay on top of every IPL news including from where its logo is derived.

Social media naam ki bhi cheez hoti hai, Raju. And it's pretty clearly written in the image. What's there to derive? What has this got to do with watching IPL? It's common sense. :yk :inti

If I am not interested in something, I will not open a meaningless thread about it here.

How is it meaningless? It's a hot topic going on here. I don't have to watch the Indian Premier League to comment on its logo or open its thread. As I said, it is just common sense. I can see you are trying to derail this thread again. Since you have no answer to the copied logo. You are the one who is not looking interested here. :yk :inti

Man, this post made me check when IPL started and don't know or care about the logos inspiration but 2007 was such an amazing and iconic year in my personal life.

Also remember watching the IPL in a gathering of a lot of friends & really enjoying the Akhtar vs. Sachin contest & cherry on top was the entire Kolkata crowd that cheered for Akhtar after he got Sachin out. Such an iconic & unbelievable feeling.

India Pakistan hatred is so manufactured, annoying, & forced and one of the greatest tragedies of the modern world.
