What do you guys think ?

Disney now controls almost all of the worlds biggest movie franchises
- Star wars, Pixar, Marvel and now Avatar, XMEN (and deadpool) , Planet of the Apes, Ice Age, etc etc etc .

Also this deal gives them 60% stake in HULU which they can use against Netflix or as of now its rumored they are Launching their own Streaming service. We could potentially see Disney locking down all of their content to their service, thus effectively killing all competitors barring Netfilx and Amazon.

Anything which reduces Murdoch influence is good by DEFAULT!

Been following this issue for the past month or so,because what it would mean for the MCU.We could finally see the Avengers with the X Men.We can see a proper Dr.Doom and Silver Surfer. We can see Galactus and Kang.A proper Fantastic Four movie. We can see Hulk vs Wolverine. So many possibilities shaz619.

We can see the House of M storyline,Secret Wars and Avengers vs X Men.Damn.

Ryan Reynolds should be retained as Deadpool while the rest of the X Men can be rebooted.Or maybe the Time Stone and Reality Stone can work their magic with the help of Dr.Strange.

imagine the last post credits scene at the end of avengers 4..Galctus the world devourer and the silver surfer!! lol..I would lose it

Marvel has set itself up nicely for phase 4, after infinity 1 and 2, they can start bringing in X-men and FF characters.

I was happy with the X-Men Universe being away from MCU and traditionally it has been seen as such based on the origins to, hope this doesn't prevent gritty releases like Logan this year. And to be honest, cross overs are overly rated and diluted in the current market, execution is key but I don't have high hopes, I rather they focus on individuals and their compelling narratives

Don’t you want to see avengers vs X-men? Come on!

I'd probably watch it to be fair lol but you know with cross overs there's always a small margin for error. Am also concerned about the future of the X-Men, they are polar opposites to the MCU characters. I want to see more movies like Logan! they have loads of material to build on X-23!

I don't want to see Hugh Jackman back either, his arc was given the ultimate pay off and it was quiet satisfying although painful at the same time

they did a comic event a couple of years ago. It was pretty epic. As for not wanting wolverine back. Are you kidding me? he's been an avenger for years and so has Beast. Cant wait to see the mutants in the MCU. They will do it right and properly. Cmon deadpool meeting captain america for the first time..that would be hilarious!

on another note, I would love to see Kamala Khan on the big screen!!

No to Hugh Jackman! not the Wolverine character, plus there is X-23 as well. Just don't want the X-Men to be degraded with goofy shtick and gimmicks.

Anyhow, do you prefer a movie like Logan or a cross over involving the X-Men / Avengers in the vein of the usual MCU team ups.

both. I like Logan but I also like the MCU and all its goodness lol. I've been an x-men fan since the late eighties early 90's so would love to see them back into the MCU. Yes I want wolverine as the character not fussed who plays him.

also remember the new dark phoenix film is set in the 1990's and so is Captain Marvel. They could easily fit the new xmen continuity into the current MCU.

The Disney CEO has confirmed that Deadpool will remain R-rated.That could mean that we can see R-rated films like Logan and Deadpool under a different banner.

We probably will see a cameo with them or maybe Magneto. It’ll be amazing and would set up phase 4.Feige has already said that phase 4 will be different to the first 3.

I was hoping TDP would be a beast of its own with a potential R-Rating and very gritty, the graphic novel Phoenix saga is among the greatest ever; if they make it similar to apocalypse will be big let down

That's good news, really look forward to the sequel

That's a big concern on the creative side. Marvel's huge success and fox struggling to catch up with onventional X-films is why they gambled with Deadpool and Logan.

marvel brings far more corporate interference, which won't allow bold moves like that in the future . Apart from Deadpool, it'll be tough to know if they greenlight other R-rated movies.

Disney always seeks to merchandise its films. WHich R - rated films won't let them

I guess you missed the most important tidbit, for India, they'll buy STAR. It's possible that the deal also includes their (other) major sports channels across the globe.

Nobody here cares about Indian stuff here, mate. This is pak passion..

You guys need to lookup the onslaught storyline marvel did years ago. It had literally every marvel character involved. Ended with most heroes dying off (of course to be resurrected later)

Would be interesting if marvel tried something similar to that on a big screen.

I hope to God they don't do Onslaught..the build up to it was great and the reveal was good too but then it descended into farce..The heroes reborn storylines were terrible and I was glad when it was all over..

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie version of the mutant massacre but with some of the marvel heroes involved too.

that may be true but marvel netflix proves they can do R rated and deadpool doesnt work without that rating. They will do the right thing. Also remember in the comics the mutant universe tends to get on with things in its own mini universe until a big crossover event comes along..

it would be great to see age of apocalypse with cap and co..lol..

its a scfi xmen movie and will stand alone but because its set in the 90's I think they can easily incorporate the xmen into the marvel contintuity as the heroes done appear until 2008 onwards..

it would make a good contrast with the mutants who have been saving the world for years and shunned while suddenly we have these new guys on the block who arent shunned..

Disney's Coco voice actor Ana Ofelia Murguía dies aged 90

Ana Ofelia Murguía, the Mexican actress who voiced great-grandmother Mama Coco in the Oscar-winning Disney Pixar animation Coco, has died aged 90.

She had a key part in the film about a Mexican boy who crosses to the Land of the Dead, uncovering family secrets while trying to become a musician.

The movie highlights the Day of the Dead and celebrates Mexico's culture.

Its National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature said her career was "vital for the performing arts of Mexico".

"With deep sadness we regret the sensitive death of the leading actress Ana Ofelia Murguía, who was part of the stable cast of the National Theater Company of Mexico and whose artistic career was vital for the performing arts of Mexico," the Mexican arts organisation added.

One of the film's most memorable moments was the scene where Mama Coco and her great-grandson Miguel sing Remember Me together.

He sings: "For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart," and she joins in to sing: "Until you're in my arms again... Remember me."

The film is set during the Day of the Dead festival held each year in South American countries, including Mexico, celebrating the cycle of life and death.

Big parades are held and people often paint their faces to look like skulls, remembering friends and family who have died and passed into the afterlife.

Born in Mexico in 1933, Murguía won a special lifetime achievement Golden Ariel award in 2011 at a ceremony recognising the best of the Mexican cinema industry.

She shared the prize, for her career spanning more than 40 years in stage, film and television, with director and writer Jorge Fons.

She also won best supporting actress at the Ariel awards in 1979, 1986 and 1996 for films including 1994's La Reina de la Noche (The Queen of the Night), about a female cabaret artist who remakes her career in Mexico after leaving Berlin following an incident with the Nazis.

Celebrating Coco's double Oscar win in 2018 for best animated film and best original song, one of its producers, Lee Unkrich, said his biggest thanks went to Mexico and that the film could not have existed without its "endlessly beautiful culture and traditions".

"With Coco, we tried to take a step forward toward a world where all children can grow up seeing characters in movies that look and talk and live like they do," he told the audience.

"Marginalised people deserve to feel like they belong. Representation matters."
