Do Hotstar know something about the IPL final that we don't?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Rajasthan Royals by 25 runs in the Eliminator of the IPL on Wednesday. With the win, KKR qualified for the second Qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad scheduled on Friday. However, even before the Qualifier 2 for the final spot, KKR had found a spot in an advertising where it shows the ‘Boys in Purple’ will face the ‘Yellow Army’ of Chennai Super Kings which has gone viral on social media. CSK have already qualified for the final in Mumbai, whereas SRH and KKR will lock horns to seal the finals berth.

Though Hotstar has now removed the advertisement, a Hotstar user had posted the video clip on his Facebook wall.

The promo shows CSK taking on KKR in the final and players from these two teams feature in the video. The video clip, that surfaced on social media, appears to be a clip from a larger video. It also seems Hotstar has now removed the advertisement. The video has even made us think whether the game fixed or not? The final for the Indian Premier League 2018 will be played on May 27, 2018, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Both, KKR and CSK emerged victorious twice and is looking to lift the title for the third time. Till now, only Mumbai Indians have won the title three times, who are now out of the tournament following the defeat with Delhi Daredevils.

Hahaha..... thats some fixing comedy going on here. what will happen if KKR will win now? They surely would like SRH to win to keep the credibility intact. However, they can always come up with the excuse that there was a mistake in the ad but still if KKR wins that would certainly create some waves in the water and may hurt the credibility. :jimmy

Unrelated: haven't been following IPL recently but a few weeks ago I had made the comment that all IPL matches blur together for me (too many matches, too many teams, not enough context in the tournament) and it feels like every match is CSK vs. KKR (or some other alphabet soup) . Would be hilarious if the final actually ends up being CSK vs. KKR :))

Oof that paradox: KKR are destined to win but SRH will win cos now the allegations have been found out, but KKR might actually wanna win as do SRH. A cyclical paradox indeed.

Or how about that Hotstar have created an advert of both CSK vs SRH and CSK vs KKR as they might not have time after the final qualifier? And someone poster the latter one by mistake.

Stop spewing hatred all the time about IPL and look at it from a logical perspective.

I think you are not aware how production houses work. All the possible adverts are pre recorded. They can't wait till the last minute to make a new ad. The already make more than a few ads and depending upon which team wins, they play that particular video.

This advert was obviously pre recorded but IPL is still the Bollywood of cricket but with better actors

Well the plausible explanation is that Hotstar just made a mistake and completely forgot that there is a qualifier 2. It is a honest mistake and even if it were fixed, I don't think BCCI will let the broadcasters know about it.

Hotstar is known to make such mistakes. Last season, they aired a GOT episode days before the global release, so running the wrong IPL ad isn't even that shocking.

Yeah, they probably have two or three ads already made and will play the appropriate one after the qualifiers.

The IPL is probably rife with corruption but this is not evidence of that.

Hotstar / star even made a New Zealand vs India 2015 WC Maika mauka advertisement...all pre recorded ads .. Its not even a mistake.. that's how production co. Works .

Still remembering watching Lalit Modi's video on youtube where he was correctly predicting the super over before the last ball being bowled.

Well, conspiracy theorists can take it easy now as SRH won. Good performance, Rashid Khan got some late runs with the bat and KKR were off to a flier but pulled things back.

It could be good if this thread never existed in the first place. Irrelevant and a waste of space.

Are Nawaz Sharif and Family their consultants, that is just as messy as they did with their 'London Flats' issue that they supposedly owned/did not own/rented/what flats, all at the same time :-)

If that is true (which sounds logical), why remove the message/videos etc?

Must have been an honest mistake from either the broadcasters or the production house. I work in an advertisement firm, so these mistakes happen.
Must have got serious shouting from higher up. Best to delete all possible mistakes than offer an explanation. Viewer memory is short lived.
