What's new

Do you feel that Bangladesh deserve to play the semi-finals?

Bangladeshi fans are really vicious and giving Indians a taste of their own medicine.

For the past 4 days, it has been a nightmare for Indians on social media, with Bangladeshi fans raining abuses bashing and trolling the crap out of them. Not a good sight for Indians I must say. Pakistanis have become too soft..

Why do you guys keep bring this useless point to a forum? Who cares what some random dudes has to say in a stupid facebook page.

BD fans this, BD fans that....why can't you guys just focus on the team for moment and not on BD fans.

Yep I am supporting the underdogs bangladesh and the dynamic Srilanka to win. If pakistan drops azar and Hafeez i could support them as a third choice.

I'm actually praising them. ;)

Bang deserve to be in the semi's coz they got more point then the others. I have no problem with that even though nature may have intervened in their favour. I would have had no problem if Pak had gone through that way so complain when Bang do.

Both teams knew what what they had to do to get to the semis. One team got it done and the other capitulated. Furthermore, Bangladesh's last game was a must-win for both them and New Zealand. England had already qualified and were going to top the group regardless but Australia still couldn't beat them. If rain saved Bangladesh against Australia then it also saved Australia against New Zealand. Bangladesh went through fair and square. Embarrassing to see people arguing otherwise.

Some people will just never be able to digest Bangladesh's success.

Bangladesh surely has raised their bar and they are climbing up slowly but can they do it is the tricky question and only time will tell.

All the best to them in the semis.

Well rain did save them against AUS (which also saved their NRR), but the same way, rain also saved AUS big time vs NZ (which would've in all likelihood hurt AUS's NRR big time as well).

They did beat NZ, which Australia was finding tough to do.

So yes, they have deserved it.

Of course they deserve to play in the Semis. They beat NZ fair and square. And Aus was saved from losing to NZ by rain.

The title says it all.

The number of people who seriously believed that Bangladesh would have headed into the semi finals were few in number. Not even an optimistic fan felt so. We were expected to be destroyed but we fought. Even in the game against England we batted well to score 305.

However we had a bit of luck considering that the match against Australia was abandoned due to rain but Australia too had their fair share of luck.

What do you folks Feel?

Oh one more thing. Now do you folks Feel BD definitely deserve to be the CT ahead of west indies? Or do we reduce the quality of the tournament?

Hey Executioner, throw away your lack of confidence. Your BD team is good and keeps getting great results. It needs to believe in itself and its fans need to believe too. When you have confidence, you will do even better!

I am an Indian and Bengali Hindu too. After India the most I root for is the Bangladeshi team (as long as they respect Indians). I supported India in the World T20 and was very happy when India prevented Bangladesh from getting 2 runs in 3 balls and winning. But I recognize that we came very close to losing and respect the Bangladesh team for what they did till over 19.3.

Your team needs a bit more maturity, Musfiqur needs to grow up and get rid of his India-hating. With maturity and confidence you guys will do even better than the great results you are already achieved.

Luck will always be there im any sport.. Pakistan was very Lucky to be in the 1992 Cricket WC finals weren't they?

But seeing the way Bangladesh had played. Yes they deserve what they are getting. I would rate the Bangladesh team to be better balanced than Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka currently
The 1992 Pakistan was lucky but it was pretty strong esp in bowling department. It was not the lowest ranked team that is why Pakistan's win was not called a fluke.Bangladesh on the other hand is not a very strong team.It has two good players namely Tamim and Shakib.

Well coming from a Pakistani fan, Bangladesh deserve to be in the semi's more than Pakistan deserve to be in the semi's

They put up 300+ against England at home on their turf.
They chased 266 against New Zealand when they were 4 down for nothing and mind you this was against a good bowling attack.
The game against Australia was lucky wash out for them but yes from their performance and their improvements they much deserve to be where they are.

The jealousy reeks from some Pak fans in this thread. GL to Bangla, always enjoy an underdog story.

They are extremely lucky to be in semis.
BD can do one upset, but doing two upsets, highly unlikely.

How good they compete in semi will be another indicator to answer this query.

There is no merit to this type of thread/discussion. No matter what some people will always say BD dont deserve to be in semi as they said BD dont deserve in the CT. There were so many poster in PP said BD wont win a single game in this CT and yet They are in the semi. What people think does not matter. At the end of the day result is main thing. If we try to gauge the SAF performance over the years then we could say they deserves to win WC but yet they didn't win any.

Rain or no rain the equation for all 3 teams (Oz, NZ and BD) going into their last game was quite simple. Lose and you're out. Both Oz and NZ lost while BD won. So of course BD deserves it. Well done to BD!

On another note not sure why BD is keeping out Mehedi. Gun player massive potential. Need to get him in there asap maybe in place of Rubel. That would be a solid line-up.

Rubel deserves his place in the side. We should have 4 seamers from the beginning. The mistake was having Rubel ahead of Taskin, who is overall a better quick than Rubel. I would like to see Mehedi in place of Sabbir perhaps since Mehdi can alao bat.

Well Mehedi should be in there somehow for mine. Big mistake to leave a player of that quality in the sidelines. Rate him very highly.

They deserve it more than Pakistan. All the biased and bigoted posters need to sit down.

Of course they deserve it.

You play by tournament rules and that's how it worked out. Similar to PAK in 1992.

Yes thoroughly well deserved over overrated teams like Australia and NZ.

Yes they deserve it. BD might have lost to England and was nearly losing to Aus, but Aus also lost to England and was nearly losing against NZ. Aus was unlucky might have deserved more to play in semi, but it doesn't mean BD didn't deserve it.

They were lucky in 1 match, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to play in semis.

No. It was through sheer luck they are in the semis. There is no doubt they are improving, but they are still not at that level to feature in semifinals of major tournaments.

Yes, absolutely. And every chance that they could also contest the Final.

Pakistanis should be last to talk about other teams being lucky with rain and luck having themselves won in 1992 through sheer fluke (no winning team has ever lost 4 matches in a tourney) and making it to 99 final despite losing 3 of their last 4 matches. Bangladesh filling deserve this. Rain or no rain they had a clear shot at the semi and they won when it mattered beating a top team. Nonetheless I still expect Pakistan to beat Bangladesh if they face off in this tourney but bitter fans need to show respect where it's due.

This is an ODI competition where luck and talent have to combine to get you through. Of course BD deserves to be in the final. That 200 run stand under extreme pressure on the brink of defeat was by itself worth the price of admission.

Anyone who comes into this thread and says Rain saved them need to first get educated regarding the matches in Group A then talk.

Bangladesh was not saved by rain.

If there were no rain games, Australia vs Nz would had ended with NZ winning. thus no points for Australia
Australia vs Bangaldesh was abandon due to rain, even though Australia could had won. Thus, Australia got a single point.
If they had won, then one could argue how it was unfair that AUs got a single point earlier from that game against NZ which was washed off.

In the end. Both Bangladesh and Australia needed to win the last game to qualify. Bangaldesh did it, Australia couldn't

so well deserved.

yes but i dont think it matters and is certainly not a case of Bangladesh 'stealing' the Aussie's spot

Aussie team had a mediocre tournament and were under the cosh even against NZ

Without rain, Australia should have won 1 game with a great margin (against Ban), and Kiwis would have won against Aussies by a narrower margin.

In the end, NRR would have made Bangladesh inferior to the other two teams, despite winning one game each.

Rain did play spoil, and Bangladesh is lucky that they are in Semis despite playing poorly in two out of three games

And you are being the FORECAST GOD.

If anyone had seen the first ten overs of bd batting of bd-NZ match and gone away he should have think and forecast (like you) that bd had lost by 200 runs . But you and other would be wrong. Stop forecasting in cricket to ridicule a team's success.

Without forecast, Bangladesh did play poorly in two games out of three. Thats a fact, and they being in Semis despite such a track record is being lucky, no matter how you twist it.

And I never ridiculed any team. Learn to differentiate between showing reality check to censuring someone
