Do you find the praises from foreign players genuine during these T20 leagues?

Do you find the praises coming from foreign players who are playing in your domestic T20 leagues genuine? This is quite normal these days and to be honest looks quite fake to me.

Yes and No... It does sound repetitive at times when the intl players use the cliche'd sentences which we have heard during every league.

What always looked fake is the way players lip sync test cricket is my priority.

Most of these are obviously for PR stuff whether praising T20 leagues or test cricket.

C'mon, we all know the rules.

Any praise of IPL is fake. (Players just want $$$)

Any praise of PSL is absoltely geniune. (Best league ever, Pakistan national asset)

Any praise of BBL is fair to some extent (to the effect that it shows BBL is better and more competitive than IPL, which is just a fake Indian corrupt money league which will destroy cricket).

Other leagues don't really count, but you can be sure that when the ECB finally gets their franchise system together, that will be the ultimate league, and obviously much better than IPL. All players want to play in England over India.

not really. the best quote that i came across recently from a player came from lala, he said and i roughly quote "when you start cricket, you play with passion but overtime it becomes your job" etc. the gist of it was players become more professional and hence realize the intricacies of cricket in a few years.

x-players, retired players, players playing in t20 leagues realize that in order to constantly get a gig, they have to make the right noise and appear as viable business assets for their employers. a player like kp is a brand, everything that he says and does is to enhance that brand. he will say the right things about the country that he is playing in and it has to be taken as that.

i was going to say shane warne started the hype train for his players with the advent of franchise cricket but bcci was even telling its commentators to only say certain kind of things long before warne took the hype making machine up a few notches.

cricket is an industry and with more and more money being involved into it, it has reached a point where you won't get honest opinions from anyone. will an australian player having a possibility to be part of ipl go on and say negative things about kohli now? no. while in the past players like ponting would openly go against tendulkar and point out how he used to have runners for his big scores.

To be fair,I do find some praises over the top but in general there is nothing wrong for cricketers to be in awe of IPL which is right up there with some of the biggest sporting leagues in the world.

If you mean a player praising another player of the same/different team in the same league he is playing then yes he is FAKE

If you mean a player praising the league that he is playing for then he is GENUINE

It's similar to - to take an example - the guys who turn up at your door blowing whistles and blasting drums during Ganesh Chaturthi. They have no particular adulation for the elephant god. They just want to grab some shiny coins and move on to the next house.

Are you writing off every single praise coming out of their mouth? I mean let us say an Afghanistan player tomorrow is in total awe of the glitz of the IPL and says how much he is in awe of it...would you consider that fake?

Nothing of that sort has ever happened. The OP is clearly referring to the likes of Kumar and Chris and Kevin and Brendon suddenly gushing over the PSL like they have found a diamond in the rough.

It's not hard to put two and two together.

Many are making a career out of it and not just. money. They would have had no career if not for these leagues. Those who are star already make a lot of money.For them more money is bonus but the experience and opportunity to better their game is invaluable.

Sure.....but as I said can be a bit subjective here....some of it can be over the top,but if they praised PSL for being well organized or something of that nature,we can't always call it fake.

Most players are liars and only say what audience wants to hear. This applies not only for the T20 leagues, but also when these players represent their countries.

I raised this point in the thread where Sangakkara was praising Babar Azam.

What it comes down to is:

1. If someone likes that player, the praise will be considered genuine.
2. If you don't like that player, it'll come across as BS and biased, he's just being nice etc.

The fact is:

The foreign players, or ANY player for that matter, will ALWAYS praise his/her team mate. Especially if asked a question by a report or someone else.

So yes, in short Babar Azam is really good, but you can't say that about the opinion of the foreigner that his opinion was truly genuine and based on a lot of experience. Like, ViV Richards was all praise for Ahmed Shehzad.

But is it really genuine?

Oh tell me about it. Hayden just sugarcoats everything to please the target audience. He once said he loved Kochi so much that he has decided to adopt the city as his own like Steve Waugh and Kolkata. The same thing he said about Chennai recently . Hayden , Dean Jones ,Brett Lee are some of the worst ones.
