With Corbin Bosch choosing to forgo his PSL 2025 deal with Peshawar Zalmi to join Mumbai Indians in the IPL, it raises an important debate: Should the PSL impose temporary bans or penalties on such players?

He was a diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi for PSL 2025 at the draft that was held in January, but will now have to forgo that deal to participate in the IPL. Starting this year, the PSL will be played in an April-May window, clashing with the IPL.

While this is a personal decision for the player, does it impact the league's reputation and the franchises' planning?

Should measures be implemented to address such situations?

Yes. A 2 or 3 season ban should be on the cards.

Lol, psl can't compete with the IPL. PCB accepts this and wants to come exist with the IPL. In that case the PSL will have to accept players leaving the PSL to join the IPL in the event of being called up as replacements and for the PSL franchises to make contingency plans.

Heck Pakistani players will leave the PSL to join the IPL if the ban on their participation is lifted.

The issue is the PCB have no track record of ever enforcing any sort of suspension or ban or the like in their history.

We all remember Afridi's "life ban" that lasted all of 2 T20s.

No.

It’s just free market economics.

Rather ROW should work on making PSL financially compete with IPL. Now that the whole world has aligned behind PCB, it might be the right time.

You can only ban if you have some clout. When it comes to IPL players can make more money in one season of IPL than 3 years of PSL. So I don't think players would care too much about the ban.

Just to add - Pakistan has often rescinded NOC at the last minute or suddenly called players back from league duties in other countries. When you behave this way with others how can you ban them if they do the same?

Kusal Mendis has joined Gujrat Titans and left his PSL franchise midway... Should he be banned for next year????

Kusal Mendis has left PSL due to safety concerns in Pakistan.

In other thread Pakistan posters talking about Security concern of overseas IPL players but here talking about banning the player . Isn't this hypocrisy.

Didn't BCCI think about banning players who played in PSL, and then they are hiring players from PSL 10???

Isn't this hypocrisy, or it is not because you are BCCI ????

There is no talk about banning the PSL player from BCCI official. Don't make things based on your assumption.

BCCI Banned brooks for breaking the IPL rules . It has nothing to do with PSL.

:kp

PSl does not have that muscle power so better stick with what's being offered

" safety concerns " only an Indian poster write this kind of ridiculous comments.

No. Banning players just because they (for whatever reason) didn't want to take part in your little T20 league and you got your feelings hurt is a stupid and childish thing to do. You can just not pick them again if you have such a problem with them.

Kushal Mendis is setting a preceedence. I think more and more players will be reluctant to play in Pakistan going forward. Looks like PSL is in big trouble.

There is always a reaction to an action. So yes, if they breach the commitment and break a contract, a ban shall be slapped.

For example, Corbin Bosch's ban from PSL is justified too!

But you can't banned the player's because they opted out due to security reasons. Lots of overseas IPL player's including Starc opted out from remaining IPL matches but BCCI can't banned them .

:kp

No need to act like arrogant BCCI. Instead we can be more forgiving. Everyone deserves a second chance

But you also cannot defend/justify a player if he breaches an already signed contract, and opt for another league. It is not even ethically right that you commit to something and then back off - maybe just because you are offered a few more $?

The question still remains: Do you think PSL should ban cricketers for some time in cases where they prioritize other leagues over their PSL commitments?

Not debating about security. Tensions escalated on both sides of borders and both leagues were called off. But what still questionable is opting out of PSL, to play IPL or any other league despite 'commitment', as if nothing happened in India?

You could say this when Starc and others would have chosen PSL, while pulling themselves out of IPL.

Wrong. I'm a Sri Lankan and none of us buy fake Indian media stories.

Kusal left because there was a better deal in IPL. He was drafted as replacement, I think for Kohli.

Sources is Pakistani .read Post #16 . He is replacement of Buttler and only play from 26 may onwards .

He already joined the GT team . Checked your fact first. Lol 🤣 🤣

Problem is, how many are you going to ban?

Money will always talk!

Best solution is to up the pay of both cat. Platinum and Diamond by $100-150k

Meaning Platinum goes upto $400-350k and Diamond $250k

Forget about PSL. We Pakistanis have the PSL pretty low in our agenda.

India as a country is in trouble after the recent humiliation. All neighbours are looking down on it and so is the United States of America :trump2
Once again, Baghdad Bob level of delusions.

TBH, PSL cannot take too many hard steps in this stuff. Players have too many opportunities nowadays that they are not that much affected by this ban thing.

Yeah, there should be some sort of contract for every player to complete their commitment until there is a genuine reason to leave.

I did but you shouldn't be justifying his reason , if that's the case after recent India-Pakistan " war", foreign players in IPL should be more concerned about their security , India is no peace heaven. Stop spreading Indian agenda here, this is a cricket forum , just a reminder.
What is your problem? First you said that Kusal Mendis hasn't give any security reasons , it's all India's propaganda. When I have showed you Pakistan journalist said same thing so now you changing goalpost. Masla kya hai real wo batao? 🤣

Kusal pulled a BCCI tactic here...LOL... making an excuse of safety concern and ran away...

So kusal Mendis is BCCI agents just because he refused to go Pakistan due to security issues? :kp

Read what I wrote bruh... Where did I mention that kusal is a indian agent????
BCCI Tactics ? What is this ? If any team or player feels that there is a security problem than the decision is Fully justified . Cricket is not important than player's Life. :kp

I'm not surprised if any SENA team refused to Play in Pakistan in the current year . How Many SENA nations is going to tour Pakistan this year @BouncerGuy ?

Don't really care if it's Buttler or Kohli, because I don't watch IPL. Saw it on Facebook newsfeed. The bottom line is it was Indian Rupees over Pakistani Rupees.
