In most democratic countries there's something called the Miranda rights which enshrines that every citizen must be informed by police or any law enforcement agency that they have the right to remain silent (they don't have to answer questions) and anything they say can be used against them in court. Does Pakistan have something like this? If it does on paper, is it common practice for policer/law enforcement to inform citizens of this right and is the general public aware of this right?

When the local chillar grabs you by the scruff of the neck, the shock often renders you speechless anyhow, so who needs Miranda rights.

Afterwards, when you’re availing their hospitality in the famed “drawing room” of the local thaana, everything you say can and will be used against you, and trust me you’ll say plenty.

There are tales of people confessing to both the Kennedy assassination and the fall of Dhaka in one fruitful session.
