Does Pakistan T20 team need aggressive modern mentors and selectors? Like Younis, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik?

Basically a spiritual leader / hype man to get the boys out of their head before a game.

I think it’s high time we think outside the box on this one 📦 🗃️

We have the talent, we have the heritage, the genetics, but what’s missing is the mindset.

We need a David Goggins style motivational boost- and btw the only reason I pre selected the above names is because I think it’s more helpful to choose mentors who recently retired / stop playing so they can relate to the current Gen Z / millennial players and toughen them up and not act like burger bachey on the field.

Fixing domestic cricket takes too much effort, we need a quick fix / bandaid temporarily while the grassroots issues and domestic cricket can be fixed long term in the background.

Umar Akmal - Mentally inept to occupy any position of power.

Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi - Will have their own agendas and won’t be any better than current lot.

Younis Khan - PCB won’t be able to work with him or vice versa as seen in past.

Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim - Do not watch domestic cricket, wont have a clue about new players.

You need a good mind, good communication, honest person without any agenda who has an eye for talent at that post who is given a free hand to have his own team who goes into domestic circuit and pick players and get them groomed.

Doubt you have anyone who has those qualities, maybe you guys can tell some names.

Mentorship, motivation etc won’t work until you have skills comparable to top teams, Pakistan do not have skills comparable to other top teams outside of Asia and in ODI or test matches. In T20 the skill gap is closer so they might stand a chance in Asian conditions but will lose batting shoot outs or in abroad conditions against most teams.

Shoaib Malik has been mentoring a domestic team for 05 million rupees a month in the champions cup.

Lala is too busy video calling the people who buy 05 joras from his shop.

YK has been a batting coach here and there.

Akmal Jr. is a social media star who even goes live doing broadcasts and asks people to double tap on his videos and send flowers.

Suggest more names I guess

Shahid Afridi is not trustworthy when it comes to selection matters.

A people’s pleaser cannot do this job.

All of them are just talk big on TV but in reality when given power they are typical mindsets

Brother we need to learn that motivations and guts and daleri can't bridge massive skills gaps.
Wrong. They should get involved. with a heavy does of Naqvi-Rameez_najam troika as administrators is the correct recipe to restore Pak crickets to its peak
