Does Pakistan's loss to Bangladesh in the 1st Test rank as the worst upset in their cricket history?

Yes because Zimbabwe happened multiple times.

USA happened once and Bangladesh happened once. But if it happens again Bangladesh wins for sure
 
Pakistani cricket is finished for the next 5-10 years.

Their body language, answers to the press, and lack of accountability show a team that doesn't believe it can win.

Yes no comparison. Any team can lose a 20 over game to anyone else, particularly if it is shortened further by rain delays, we have seen this on many occasions — and (at a push) 50 over games can go down the upset route as well.

Losing a Test at home to the likes of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe or Ireland is a whole new level of disaster. Good Test sides can lose a session, or even have a bad day, but over 4-5 days the better side should win a Test match.

Bangladesh beat Pakistan in ODI format 5 times (once in 1999, thrice in 2015, and once in 2018 Asia Cup).

Bangladesh beat Pakistan twice in T20 (once in 2015 and once in 2016 Asia Cup).

But, this was the first Test win over Pakistan ever.

Difference is that 1999 and 2018 were seen as one offs.

2015 whitewash didn't hurt because Pakistan was pretty much a 9 ranked aide and was viewed as a minnow that managed to suprise the world by winning ct. No one was pretending.

Currently this crop of players is a circus. Literally people have made posts delsuopnally claiming Pakistan is still the 2nd best Asian team which isn't true anymore

I was just correcting you that BD didn't just win once. BD have 8 wins against Pakistan overall (5 in ODIs, 2 in T20s, and 1 in Test).

Anyway, BD have had comparatively more successes against other teams. For example, New Zealand (BD whitewashed Kiwis twice in ODIs and have had 3 drawn Test series) and West Indies.

BD generally don't do well against Pakistan.

Bro I never claimed they just won once? You took it way too literally and applied it universally.

I was referring to the current state of affairs since the babar regime was set up and upsets that happened then.

Obviously I'm not gonna go as far back as 2015 azhar Ali era?

By this logic 2007 Ireland defeat is a bigger upset then anything that is transpiring rn?
 
Bangladesh win in 99 imo is the biggest upset in Pakistan cricket history.
Ireland loss in 07 knocked out Pakistan and people are evaluating that for impact but 1999 was simply unthinkable.
 
Loosing series to bangladesh in home is worst upset in 75 years of test cricket in pakistan. Hope they avoid that tomorrow
 
Pakistan cricket was dead a few years ago, this is merely digging up the corpse and burning it.

PCB deserve this humiliation after make mastodon captain and persisting with same losers in the team. Humiliation in all format now complete

Except that was an ODI ... losing a Test match ( worse a series ) to BD at home is unthinkable. No comparison whatsoever.
 
No more upsets , they have been consistently losing to Zimbabwe, Afghanistan , USA, bangladesh , Ireland etc.. in the last 2 years or so...

Babar, Shaheen, Naseem and Rizwan for achieving such low feat have a mammotth ego, attitude and bossiness ....

It seems minnows are openly targeting Pakistan to beat. I think a player from USA made some statements like that. But it was in shorter format.

I did not expect Pakistan to struggle so bad against BD at home in tests. Having said that kudos to BD to play good cricket. I am liking that BD is playing decent cricket.
 
Doesn't look like upset. Pakistan bowlers have very pathetic speed, stamina, line and length.

Spinners also don't look good.

If this was a 3-test series, would it have been 3-0 Bangladesh? 4-0 Bangladesh if 4? Or an England style 5-0 whitewash if it was an Ashes type 5-tester?

Pakistan have zero momentum to arrest this slide.

Yes especially with Pakistan topping the group and all. In fact I clearly remember everyone was saying that match was fixed with 100% surety at that time because nobody believed that Bangladesh could beat that Pakistan team. Even Bharatiyas all said the same.

People here are talking like this is some big upset.
The gap between Pakistan and BD isn’t as big as it was in 90/2000s. People need to come out of history and look at the present.

The biggest upset ever in history of cricket and one of the biggest in history of sports was Pakistan losing to USA in T20 WC.
A professional team losing to full time software engineers/cabbies is the most embarrassing defeat in cricket history. Nothing can top that. Pakistani fans should actually be hoping that match was fixed rather than accepting their teams defeat against part timers who play on weekends.

Which Test series did they win at home against big teams?

Except WI, they hadn't beaten a single big Test side (SL included) either home or away in their history.

Yes you are right, I forgot they didn’t win series but actually drew some series, drew test matches which is probably a big achievement for them in a similar way as it is for India to win test series.
 
Its not an upset. Pakistan have been trending down for some time. Even a home test loss to Ireland if it were to happen would only be a minor surprise.

There is no talent upcoming in Pakistani cricket and the little that occupies the side are passengers on a free ride around the world to help boost their insta and tik tok profiles.

Bro, India winning a test series at home is not an achievement, it is given (we haven’t lost a series home since 2012).

comment didnt age well. pcb wanted to expose Bobzy and his agents, so made a lovely lively wicket. even with rain , bobzies lost their boobzies within 4 days.

if u can't play 100 balls and score 40 runs every 3-4 test innings, u cant play tests period.
 
It’s insane, it’s one thing to lose to software engineers but that’s T20, how can you lose two Tests to BD with one of them being flat pitch?
This is definitely the lowest PCT has ever been, and no this is not unexpected, in Tests it wasn’t unexpected.

Although they lost the series, don't think it would hurt Pakistan the most. The loss was only to Bangladesh, not some arch rival or enemy that it would hurt and rankle for ages.
 
Losing a Test match to the Brotherhood at home shouldn't hurt to be honest.

It's a format in which any good FC side can beat PAK.

Getting knocked out by part time cricketers of Indian origin in a format which is supposed to be your best format is more concerning
 
We should not be calling any more of these defeats as upsets. Upset would be when we win a test series at home or away to any opposition in the next 1 year. That would be an upset. Otherwise, the expectation would be to lose every upcoming series, or at best drawing it somehow.
