It only agrees with my views some of the time. I put great stock in objectivity which is why you'll occasionally see me defend things I otherwise despise. What makes Dawn trustworthy is that it's the only news outlet that can't be intimidated by the military so it's pretty much the only source for at lease semi-uncensored news involving the military.

Propaganda doesn't just come from the military. I've read some of their articles and like most biased new sources they'll misreport or underreport something which is pretty common for news sources around the world.

You're easily the least qualified person apart from KKWC and some Indian posters on this forum to comment on whether or not what a news outlet in Pakistan is reporting is true or not. You can't know if someone is misreporting something if you don't know what they're talking about and in your case, when it comes to the inner workings of Pakistan, that's a safe assumption to make most of the time. Dawn is the exact opposite of a biased news source. Not many outlets in Pakistan Rise above partisan preferences to skewer everyone equally. As far as propaganda not just coming from the military is concerned, that's true but what's also true is that the military are the only ones whose propaganda goes unchallenged for the most part. The importance of Dawn challenging it every step of the way can not be overstated.

So the whole media reported this to give an impression that Maryam did not forge any documents and Calibri font was available in 2005. All Geo jang journalists gave breaking news that key witness confirmed Maryam's point and admitted fault.

What was missing was that the witness CLEARLY said font was available in 2005 however only beta version for Tech experts (testing purposes) but commercially available only after 2007.

None of those statements say that NS is clean. What they do say is that whatever's been going on is not as transparent as it seems and parties that may not necessarily seem be involved are involved which is true even if it doesn't conform to your delusions of this being some great purge of the corrupt. None of it even compare to actual white lies like the nonsense about extremism being defeated, coming from supporters of a guy that just gave another $2.5 million to the Taliban's premier training institute.

When you read the actual article, here are first few lines:

They posted following article implying that ISI somehow created some evidence against Maryam but "ISI employed" basically means ISI member of JIT used to deliver documents. ISI member was part of JIT and did what a member would do. Dawn's article suggest ISI designed something against Maryam, Dawn's Mubashar Zaidi also posted this and all the PMLN supporters are saying "See we always said JIT has been working against us and it's all just a conspiracy

This is how media builds narratives and this has been very consistent throughout Panama case, Dawn is actually our best paper so if they are coming down to this level, just imagine what other are upto.

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing the Avenfield Apartments reference was informed on Thursday by chief of the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted in the Panama Papers case that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was employed to procure key material against Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, and her husband retired Captain Mohammad Safdar.

On April 4, the JIT head and star witness in the reference against Mr Sharif, Wajid Zia, had testified that evidence related to the Capital FZE, which ultimately led to the former premier’s disqualification as a parliamentarian, had been collected by two members of the probe team — Brigadier Kamran Khurshid of the Military Intelligence (MI) and Irfan Naeem Mangi of the National Accountability Bureau — in a single day.

On Wednesday, the ousted prime minister had criticised the inclusion of personnel belonging to the ISI and MI in the team investigating his case, which did not involve issues of terrorism or national security.

Responding to a question during his cross-examination on Thursday, Mr Zia told the court: “We utilised the services of Brigadier Noman Saeed [of ISI] to deliver the relevant material to Robert W. Radley.” Defence counsel Amjad Pervez had asked the witness how the JIT had delivered the trust deeds and other documents signed by Maryam Nawaz, Mr Safdar and others.

The witness remained quiet for some time before prosecutor Abbasi said it was routine to receive best wishes from relatives on such occasions.

Annoyed over the interference by the lead prosecutor, Mr Pervez complained to Judge Mohammad Bashir that the prosecution was “depriving the accused of their legitimate right to fair trial”.

Earlier the lead defence counsel had alleged that prosecutor Abbasi had met forensic expert Robert Radley in the UK “to influence his testimony”, an undesirable practice in legal proceedings. Advocate Pervez also said the JIT procured the forensic record and other material related to the trust deeds in violation of the relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code and that the statements of relevant officials had not been recorded as per the legal practice.

Talking to journalists after the proceedings, Mr Sharif said that with the passage of time truth was coming to the fore.

He said the identity of the 40 “unknown persons” working in the JIT secretariat must be revealed who he said had prepared a “false report”.

The former premier termed the reference “a blessing in disguise” and said he was thankful to Allah because the truth “is finally emerging”.

The decision of the Supreme Court to disqualify him as a parliamentarian on the basis of an Iqama had already been proved wrong, he claimed.

ISI member was part of JIT and did what a member would do. Dawn's article suggest ISI designed something against Maryam, Dawn's Mubashar Zaidi also posted this and all the PMLN supporters are saying "See we always said JIT has been working against us and it's all just a conspiracy

This is how media builds narratives and this has been very consistent throughout Panama case, Dawn is actually our best paper so if they are coming down to this level, just imagine what other are upto.

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing the Avenfield Apartments reference was informed on Thursday by chief of the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted in the Panama Papers case that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was employed to procure key material against Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, and her husband retired Captain Mohammad Safdar.

On April 4, the JIT head and star witness in the reference against Mr Sharif, Wajid Zia, had testified that evidence related to the Capital FZE, which ultimately led to the former premier’s disqualification as a parliamentarian, had been collected by two members of the probe team — Brigadier Kamran Khurshid of the Military Intelligence (MI) and Irfan Naeem Mangi of the National Accountability Bureau — in a single day.

On Wednesday, the ousted prime minister had criticised the inclusion of personnel belonging to the ISI and MI in the team investigating his case, which did not involve issues of terrorism or national security.

Responding to a question during his cross-examination on Thursday, Mr Zia told the court: “We utilised the services of Brigadier Noman Saeed [of ISI] to deliver the relevant material to Robert W. Radley.” Defence counsel Amjad Pervez had asked the witness how the JIT had delivered the trust deeds and other documents signed by Maryam Nawaz, Mr Safdar and others.

So the whole media reported this to give an impression that Maryam did not forge any documents and Calibri font was available in 2005. All Geo jang journalists gave breaking news that key witness confirmed Maryam's point and admitted fault.

What was missing was that the witness CLEARLY said font was available in 2005 however only beta version for Tech experts (testing purposes) but commercially available only after 2007.

Waqt News Fires All Staff and Stops Operations

In a sudden move, Waqt News has sacked 200 hundred employees, including anchorpersons, reporters, sub-editors, producers and cameramen, who worked for the satellite TV channel of Nawa-e-Waqt group. 40 of these employees belonged to the Islamabad office.



The sudden dismissal has taken the employees by surprise. They claim that the way they were shown the door was completely unethical and a first in Pakistani media’s history.

The company’s most senior top-rated anchor, Mattiullah Jan, was given the boot a few weeks ago “after giving in to the alleged pressure from the establishment.”

According to sources, about a week ago, the Media Group’s Chief Executive Officer and Owner, Rameeza Majid Nizami, called an “exclusive meeting” with all the senior anchors of the channel and informed them about shutting down the TV channel. The sources also told that she did not take other employees on board before issuing them the termination notices.


So far, the Nawa-e-Waqt group has restricted itself to a web channel and some linear editors and web desk.

Sources also claim that the employees, who signed a formal contract with the channel, were offered one month of extra salary whereas the daily wage workers and lower-tier staff were terminated without any incentive. The remaining employees would only be paid their pending salary for the month of September and October.

A senior official of the media group stated that Rameeza Majid Nizami, due to the deteriorating financial conditions, had to sell her bungalow in Islamabad in order to clear out her dues for the terminated employees and to meet the running expenditures of The Nation and Nawa-e-Waqt newspapers.

One of the employees also claimed that the delay in salary had become a routine at the channel and the workers didn’t receive any raises during the past three years.
