The country is safer than it ever was since the last few years. Yet we havent been able to market ourselves to foreigners as being safe.

Just saw this tweet from steve smith, and thinking about if i was a player and sat in such a bus with those metal bullet and bomb proofing, even if the country was safe I would feel abit paranoid..

I understand that these requirements were most probably placed there by CA and pakistan has to comply.... But i dont believe it promotes the country to be safe, and as we are planning to host the champions trophy in future, sooner or later we would have to start promoting our country as a safe destination.

But sorry to say, this image wont help us. Never saw this in PSL, but here its quite disturbing and doesnt really help us.

I feel alot of the times we overdo the "how safe is Pakistan" question from foreign players who come here.

If you ask that question again and again in interviews from numerous players it shows there is something wrong.

Australia is right to be careful, they are coming after 24 years. After the Sri Lanka attacks in 2009, I don't want any Pakistani Cricket Board or Government taking security lightly

You are right, security cant be taken lightly. I dont disagree wit that. But if you want to promote your country to be safe, such things arnt gonna help.

Yes, they will feel that they are secure, but than again we are enabling them to think that something is wrong in our country that we had to trasnport them in such paranoid looking vehicles.

Remember, we have hosting rights for champions trophy, but unless we start building the perception in the minds of players that we are safe, its very difficult to get a champions tropht done in Pakistan.

We have to tackle the perception that is build, and to tackle that perception we need to learn how to brand the country to be safe.

Yes provide security, but that security doesnt need to be visible. For example, just a wild example i am giving here, why not spend a few extra bucks to make sure that the inside of the bullet proof coaster matches the bus interior, where it is not obvious that the bus is bombproof and the players perception stays intact.

The visuals that we show the in coming players matter alot, and we need to start working on these very small details.

Its been i think 5 years since our first tour, yet Pakistan isnt a regular touring country, we still have to nake request and wait till the toss to take place to make sure the tour goes ahead..

There is too much uncertainity before each match, and if it continues like that for the next few years it wont help us..

No team will want to visit without presidential security. Will have to host cricket for at least 15 years safely before the perception improves. Sucks but that is how it is

Im not saying dont give them the presidential security. Give it to them. But why not make these things more discrete that the player himself doesnt need to know.

Make a perception that its a safe environment while having all security that isnt obvious to the visuals.

The australian security advisors should know, and we limit the visuals so that the psychologic perception can make them think that they are in a safe zone.

Its a hugeee deal that Australia is coming here. They stopped touring us in 1998 well before things went to hell in Pakistan. So, anything that helps ensuring the first tour goes smoothly. Next time maybe it will be more relaxed. Altho yes, i do agree with the sentiments echoed by the OP but its a necessary evil sadly.

You simply can’t win with Pakistan fans. An incredibly glass half empty group. If there was a lack of security, they would be moaning. Now they are moaning about too much security!!! 😀

Why not just discuss cricket?

It is a double edged sword. We will have to provide this level of security for the next decade at least otherwise teams will not come to Pakistan. It is as simple as that.

Hopefully in time the situation in Pakistan will continue to improve, perceptions will improve naturally if we can continue, God willing, to have successful tours and after some time we can start to relax things a little. But even then, it will only be a little. I cannot foresee a scenario in the short or medium term where cricketers will be freely wondering around and mingling without security around them.

Wasn't there an incident during the Jeet Lo Dil India series when Ganguly went out to Gawalmandi for dinner. Of course nothing happened but he got into trouble for just going out without telling anyone.

It is what it is.

Not enough security and teams wouldn't come.

PCB has to play it safe and that's exactly what they are doing.

For the major teams to tour again consistently, initially security will have to be top draw until confidence and the situation further improves. If the tour concludes without issues then teams like England and New Zealand will almost certainly tour.

Good... No need to take any risk.

One more incident and forget about cricket in Pakistan for the next 10 years.

it is need of the time. But inshaAllah soon it wont be needed to this extent.

Players won't want to come if they are locked up in doors all the time. They want to explore the country like visiting restaurants and do some sight seeing as well as play Cricket. They will feel even more insecure if guards follow them around everywhere. There has to be a balance in telling the world that Pak is safe to visit and getting all defensive. Ultimately, it is up to the players to decide if they feel safe.

What the picture promotes is that regardless of the security, law and order situation in Pakistan, the PCB and the Pakistani govt can be trusted to provide iron tight security to foreigners in Pakistan

Pat Cummins has specifically said that they are used to live in hotel rooms, even in india they are mostly confined to the hotel area, so it's nothing new.

Baby steps. Right now the need is to make security overt, not covert.

Over time hopefully, it will fade into background, but that time may be a bit far away.

Overall, I am amazed how quickly cricket has come back to Pakistan despite everything that happened leading up to and after the Sri Lanka team incident.

What needs to be done, needs to be done.

Even if its required to fly a AWACS over the stadium or put ADs outside it. Do it. And play cricket.

It is a bit different in India. In Pak with the situation always being volatile Aussie players will be more fearful. In India it is perhaps more to do with the crowds then fear of terrorist attacks.

This is only a problem for the online public. All the players have said it has made them feel safe, including players from the past tours.
