I don’t understand how in 2026, when we have science and education, some people are marrying a tree or an animal because of astrology.

The idea that someone has to marry a dog first because Mars is in the wrong position (Manglik Dosha) sounds more like animal fetish

How can the position of a planet destroy your marriage? And how does marrying a dog fix it?

LOL! How can any normal person do this?

I guess India is the land of many strange people. :qdkcheeky

It is stupid but our literacy is still only 81%.. long way to go.
Hopefully we completely stop this practice.. but not sure what’s your intention of this thread..

Can't comment on cultures and traditions without really understanding the underlying symbolism behind it. I'm not educated on the issue and don't want to offend any dear brothers.

However, usually, these type of situations result in serious animal exploitation and abuse, but judging from first picture the dog is looking forward to wedding night.

Live and let live is my motto. If dog and wife are happy then I hope the best for the union.

I think its more to do with fetish but it needs to be stopped

Its bizarre a cow is treated holy and looked after but other animals are abused marrying animals and abusing them in form of suhagraat isnt justified either

Animals protection organisations needs to step in and take action

Its their culture and religion.
As far as i know, this is a cricket forum and we have very strict rules against criticism of controversial aspects of our own religion. In such a case, we have no right to mock their religion. If we cannot take criticism on our own culture and religion, then its hypocritical behaviour to not give the Hindus the same courtesy.

My mother came from a Punjabi sikh family and back in the day their ancestors were Brahmin Sanatanis. I respect this part of my lineage and wouldn't mock them when i am not comfortable discussing controversial aspects of my religion.

Just education purpose

How popular is this practice and has it always been there or was it added later?

Bhaijaan

this thread is not meant to mock anyone’s religion or culture at all.

I’ve seen many enthusiastic Hindus who take a strong interest in Islam ie mufti @Cover Drive Six and Hindus even join this forum to share their knowledge with Muslims. So I thought it would be nice to also share some of my understanding of Hinduism.

It’s all about learning from each other sharing and caring in a respectful way.

Does it matter? its stupid and illiterate majority obviously don’t follow it but who knows what happens in villages.

Any practice that doesn’t make sense in today’s society should be abandoned.

This isn’t part of Hindu scriptures per se but in some Vedic astrology to marry the tree or claypot or in this case a dog.

I don't dounbt your intention. You're one of the sensible posters and a patriot for which i respect you.
Just thought this was borderline disrespectful and not fair.

He's done alright for himself to be honest, she looks a bit of a catch.

I think this is great.
I was married to the dog in my profile pic; and now I'm a widow :(

Brother @emranabbas has really been upset with every thing that happened recently and opening illogical threads in frustration.

Sequence of events are follows:

1. We will not play against Endia on 15th Feb, Naqvi nehi bikega. End result Naqvi beek gaya (if beek gayi hai gormint ever had a face)

2. PCB only agreed to play because BCCI was begging. End result - PCB demanded bilateral ties on which ICC said no.

3. Pak will beat India on field. End result - one sided phainta (again)

4. Both finals and semi final is happening in India due to lack luster performance by Pak side. Unlike CT 2025 where even the final was played in Dubai.

5. Khameni didnt die...Indians spreading false news.

After so many shocks and setbacks, he has now resorting to attack Hinduism and ill practices.

Imagine a muslim is talking about ill practice of others religion...especially on marriage.

:klopp

Congratulations, @Cover Drive Six, @Devadwal, @uppercut and @BreadPakoda. We need more people like you. :inti

Marriage between humans and animals should be illegal. This is animal abuse.

Imagine the conversation between the dog and the lady at night.

Wife: How was your day?
Dog: Woof!
Wife: Are you hungry?
Dog: Woof!
Wife: Do you want to eat out tomorrow?
Dog: Woof!

Ridiculous. :inti

It is not culture or traditions in Hinduism. Certain people have their own beliefs where they believe in curse of some devil and to ward it off, they have to marry an animal first before they marry a human. It is a superstition. The pictures posted in the OP seem to be of tribal people. Who is going to tell them to stop following their beliefs?

Also, there is some stupid belief with regards to astrology where they think that if the bride or groom marry each other, one of them dies. This is due to the so called belief in Astrology. To ward off the evil effect of the planets, they first marry a tree symbolically and then chop down the tree to convince themselves that the tree is dead and the evil effect is over. Then the girl proceeds to marry the groom. It is mental slavery.
All of these superstitions were ripe a century ago. Over the decades, with modern education, these superstitions are fading. It still exists in small pockets of India. You cannot change them.
Many people wear many rings on fingers and tie many tabeez to ward of evil eyes. Many educated fellows also believe in it.

You can still see people believing in parrot picking cards that decides the luck of the person that day. Just like Chinese fortune cookies.

I read somewhere Aishwarya Rai married a tree before marrying Junior Bachchan, because she was Mangalik.

Once again, Champu the self declared atheist jumps in to defend Hindu religion.

Colour me surprised.

I read somewhere Aishwarya Rai married a tree before marrying Junior Bachchan, because she was Mangalik.
Both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachan denied it.

There is a concept in Indian Astrology called Manglik. Any person with Manglik dosha (deficiency) will find it hard to get married. The belief is that if a girl with Manglik marries a non-Manglik guy, then there is an imminent threat to the life of the guy.

So as a way to ward it off, the girl marries a small tree or bush symbolically first. Then the bush is chopped down as an act of its death. Then the girl is not Manglik anymore. So she can now marry the groom.

It is all mental slavery. It is a belief. No different to tying Tabeez or praying to thin air or looking up to the sky as a way to thank some invisible man that let a cricketer score a century. All of them are beliefs.

You expect them to come out in the open and accept that ?

How do you know they are Hindus? They could be anyone.

There is no dog tossing festival in India. May be some idiots think tossing dead animals is a celebration. But it is okay to label them as Hindus. :mv
lets be honest thr not muslims, sikhs, christians, buddhists, jains,

thr not eve agnostics or even athiests

cmon mate thr hindus

What if they are tribals and follow their own God or what if they converted to Christianity or converted to Buddhism? Many Dalits and Tribals have converted to Buddhism ever since Jai Bhim movement started.

Even if they are Hindus or any other religion followers, those don’t look like real animals. They are not moving and no animal lets itself get flung in the air without resistance.

What would be the point of tossing stuffed toys if they believe it's tossing puppies which absolves sins?

I thought of avoiding these kinds of threads that created with some agenda. However, since you are tagging me, I am responding, and I hope you one gets offended.

You were riled up the day before yesterday. when I posted about attacks on Shia mosques in Pakistan :D . You even went to the extent of resorting to street-level language and abusing Hindu gods, which moderators later deleted. :ROFLMAO:

Most Muslims are very defensive and can’t tolerate it when someone speaks facts, and you did exactly that by opening a thread to tag me. Lol.🤡

How can a person marry a 9 years old child?
How can a person marry his adopted son’s wife and have sex?
What kind of person kills a husband and marries someone else’s wife?

Please don’t get offended and Enlight us. This post is not meant to mock anyone’s religion or culture at all.

i want to know @Cover Drive Six thoughts he was trying cuss Islam the other day and now has disappeared since then.
I have already posted this above. Please respond without getting riled up or abusing others, as the moderators deleted your earlier posts. I have never used any cuss words against any religion. I challenge you to prove otherwise and request that I be permanently banned if you can.

You were the one who got riled up and made abusive remarks about Hindu gods

Show me a single post where I have abused any religion. I only stated that Shia mosques in Pakistan were attacked by Sunni extremists, provided evidence from the BBC, and mentioned that IS belongs to the Sunni branch.

What exactly was abusive in that? 🤡

Coming to the topic, every religion has some unusual beliefs, and some are good. Religion revolves around belief. Let people believe what they choose and practice what they have followed from their ancestors, as long as it brings something positive to their lives.

stop lying you said said some offensive things about Islam the reason I got riled up. the posts have now been deleted.

your not a Muslim you don't know anything about us or our internal issues so stop pretending you know more about Islam than Muslims them selves. 🤡 🤡 🤡

I am not a Muslim, and I don’t need to know every deep aspect of Islam. But you don’t need to study a religion in depth to talk about general news, such as Shia mosques in Pakistan being attacked by ISIS militants, who belong to the Sunni branch.

It is stupid but our literacy is still only 81%.. long way to go.
Hopefully we completely stop this practice.. but not sure what’s your intention of this thread..
Trying to deflect from stoning women killing people for blasphemy ...hijab and other medieval practices

What is the rule in Islam? I hope you don’t sidestep this ;)
Its not allowed in islam:

  • It is absolutely haram (unlawful) for a man to harm his wife. The Prophet SAW prohibited harming others in general, (4:21); who is one’s “garment” (2:187), and who lives under one’s ri’aaya, care and shepherdship, as mentioned in a prophetic tradition? (30:21), and commands men to deal with their wives in an honourable way (4:19). Rape, abuse, ill treatment, and inflicting harm – be it physical, verbal or psychological – are completely unacceptable in such a relationship.

Marital rape is not a crime. However women can complain on her abusive husband under domestic violence act and seek separation or distance from her husband.
Marital rape is a crime ..may not be acc to laws but by every other barometer....consent is sacrosanct
are you both ok = you both contradicted each other and then typical champ thumbs up @straighttalk after he wrote the opposiste,

thats is very typical indian

i think both of you need to need to go to the rape thread = ive posted over 50 detailed videos = all from indian journalists, confirming marital rape is legal in india .... think both of you need to go and watch them

also @Champ_Pal - bolded part is very much of a side step = as men can (marital rape) wife only without being abusive = as again shown in the videos ive posted in the rape thread

yeh it means that if the man has the urge - the wife shouldnt reject and vise versa

however you dont understand marital rape= its when the women rejects it and the husband forces
In marital rape too, man has the urge and the woman does not consent. So the man forces.

In the pic I posted, it says if the woman refuses just because she is not in the mood, then God will be cursing her until she satisfies her husband. Basically blackmailing and guilt tripping her even if she is not in the mood and against her will.

Nice try :mv

DOMESTIC VI0LENCE, AB0RTI0N & MARITAL GRAPE IN ISLAM

this is why imams always say you go to a credible person, not websites

The hadeeth does not say that a Husband should force himself.

The other part that angels will curse is for not having a mood but refusing intentionally.

Stop taking it out of context. Either your a 12 year old who doesn’t understand basic things, or your tinky-winky doesn’t work, or you’re using your tinky-winky in place of your brain.

What the hadith is saying is very simple, but clearly this basic concept is too hard for you to understand. It is about husband and wife satisfying each other in marriage. If a man is constantly ignored by his wife, it can lead him towards self-gratification, which is not allowed in Islam, or towards other women. Both of these things can damage a marriage.

So the teaching is simply telling husband and wife to be intimate with each other and keep the relationship healthy. It’s basic common sense, but I guess expecting you to understand something this simple was asking too much.
