What's new

Dominating Pakistan smash poor West Indies by 143 runs to register second biggest (by runs) T20I win

Mian Malik MoM - and quality of his stats will improve as well; this is against the 2 times WC winners ....

Hehehe yeah. Hafeez must be upset at missing the chance of being a match winner against this mighty WI tonight.

Can Asif Ali play ronchi type role while opening 60+ in power play would be great

Yes he used to open but he is fine in the middle as well. Lets see good thing is he might be playing all 3 maches

Stadium looks half empty. All that effort exerted and money spent to get a third rate side to tour Pakistan and the crowd didn't even bother turning up.

Crowd left mid way I guess otherwise it was almost 85% full which is good enough enough considering construction being done

Tomorrow WIN might perform better - today they are coming from jet lag as well.

Construction. Some seats are unavailable, it was about 85% full.

Oh wow. Even after 60-9, from what Sarfraz said Shaheen won't get a go until the 3rd T20. That's pathetic. Consider the team you're playing, the context he should get a few games under his belt.

Congratulations to all, for successfully holding an international match in Karachi after decades of no cricket and to top it off we won it dominantely with two debutants.

There's no point Pakistan playing their full strength team against this kind of opposition - it is literally a West Indies C team at best. Likes of Hasan Ali, Amir, Malik and Sarfraz shouldn't be playing - they don't gain anything from this with their experience ideally should have been kept fresh and not risk getting injured with an England tour coming up soon. Fakhar, Shadab, Faheem, Nawaz I don't mind playing due to their inexperience. Babar Azam shouldn't play all 3 games either.

Only Pakistan would play their full side for a meaningless T20I against poor opposition while other sides would have used this opportunity to experiment. Bench strength has to be tested so that when players aren't available for the more important games they can come in with some confidence and runs/wickets/economical spells behind them. On that note poor decision to not let Shaheen debut for Pakistan.

Very disappointng

Even India rested some of their main players for the Nihadas trophy, and they won the trophy, and that was against supposedly first choice Bangladesh and Sri Lankan sides.

We are playing at home against a West Indies C side, and we are playing essentially a full strength team, with the intentions to continue to do so until the final T20.

Public has waited a decade to see national stars play at home. Have to play full strength for the sake of PCT Fans.

Essentially the only senior players were Sarfaraz, Malik and to some extent Amir and Babar. This was the first international match in Karachi after nearly a decade. It's understandable nobody wanted to miss out playing in front a jam packed home crowd.

They did try new ideas like opening with Fakhar and Babar while giving a chance to two new players. The only thing they could have done better was picking Shaheen Afridi instead of Amir. You guys need to stop being chronically pessimistic.

With the selection of players available, Shaheen Afridi should have been tried. I said this before the match too, should have been given 3/3 games

First international series at home in almost a decade, context bhai context.

Yes I acknowledge that but that's not a reason to be risking the players I've named above after a month long PSL with an English tour coming up very soon. More importantly younger/inexperienced players miss out who need games under their belt as backup in the more high profile games. This happens every time regardless of the opposition or where it's being played, so I don't think their presence has anything to do with playing in Pak after so long.

A superb T20I fast-bowling display by Pakistan against West Indies

Concluding the first T20i of the 2018 West Indies visit to Karachi, an superb fast bowling display was put forth by the hosts. See this.

Mohammad Amir- 2 Overs, 11 Dot balls, 2 Wickets
Hasan Ali- 1 Over, 6 Dot balls, 1 Wicket

Hasan Ali does not need to play in this series. He is already recovering from injury.

Let Shaheen make his debut

Amir is not even in his best form. And he is still one of the best bowlers in the world.

It was awesome by those two. But it does bother me how far ahead those two are from the rest. Faheem looked quite a bit less good than those two. And I don't think whether Raees or Shinwari or any of the others would have made much difference. Outside those two, our fast bowlers bowl slower, make the ball talk less, and bowl to less of a plan.

And we all know Amir isn't really bowling to his full potential, even the 2009 version of him was better.

Have patience, Fahim was the joint highest wicket taker in PSL.

Shinwari was excellent for majority of the PSL. Rumman is a T20 specialist.

Then we have guys like Wahab, Junaid, Shaheen, Rahat etc who are good enough options despite not being in the squad.

Just another day in the park for the best bowling side known to man.

Wi are embarrassing themselves. That is a joke team and will get smashed by even an u-19 team.

Why send such a hopeless team to a team like Pakistan who are a beast in t20’s lately?

Great effort by the boys. Not our problem that the West Indies are worse then a county side these days. Really wanted to see Asif bat to see how good he is. Most of all it is brilliant to Cricket back in Pakistan especially Sindh/Karachi. Pak rocks! Can never thank the military and ISI for their sacrifices and bravery:pkflag:53:

Oh´ well, a pretty bad showing by the West Indies. The only thing worth watching from this match was Pakistan´s batting, but I missed it as I was talking to a friend on the phone in the other room.
