The only way to fix the fielding issue is to drop players purely for poor fielding.

These players will never improve themselves unless they are dropped purely due to their poor fielding. This will give them the incentive to actually improve their fielding.

it shouldn't matter how good their batting or bowling is. If their fielding is not at least at an above average level, they deserve to be dropped and kept out for at least 3-4 months. End of story.

need stats for fielding, too many passengers get away for what they cost the team. if u had fielding stats no one could hide.

and u could openly say, lets have a batsmen who has a batting average of 45 who costs us 5 runs in the field, not one who averages 50 and costs the team 15 runs.

good idea but its hard to compile those stats

We can see with our eyes which guys can field and which guys consistently field poorly. Anyone who is not an above average fielder should be dropped and not allowed back for at least 6 months.

I do not see any solution other than dropping average/below average fielders for at least 6 months. I do not care how many runs they score or how many wickets they take.

They are not poor fielders due to genetics or lack of natural ability. They are just lazy.

This problem has been a major plague since i started watching cricket in 1999. Nothing has changed since. They need to be dropped instantly.

This has to start from the domestic and grassroots level. If this shambolic fielding is accepted there then no point dropping them as they will never improve. Drop players from 1st 11 to the second 11 , intl to domestic 1st 11 then they will fix their fielding

Stats should be kept for fielding. In baseball stats are kept for fielding especially errors made. Another thing that would help is recognizing excellence in fielding. We reward bowlers and batsmen but rarely good fielders. Again in baseball fielders are recognized for their excellence in specific fielding positions.

This strategy only works when you have a conveyor belt of replacement batsmen and bowlers (who are good fielders).

Otherwise there will be a clamour for the dropped players 2 games later.

Drop them?

Heck, we wouldn't be able to field eleven players in the starting line-up if we started doing this.

This needs to start from domestic teams drop players if their fielding is not come enough.also i would put incentives in place to recognise fielding
