Eden Hazard has confirmed he is set to leave Chelsea this summer.

The Belgium international scored twice as the Blues won the Europa League after a comprehensive victory 4-1 victory over Arsenal in Baku.

Pushed on his future after the final whistle, Hazard told BT Sport: "I think it is a goodbye. You never know in football.

My dream was to play in the Premier League and I did that for 7 years with the biggest clubs in the world so maybe now it is time for a new challenge.

Real Madrid are to step up their bid to sign Hazard and are now prepared to pay Chelsea a higher fee in order to secure his signature.

Hazard has just over a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge with the forward explaining he has already made his decision to move on.

“We will decide in a few days. My target today was to win the trophy, that is it.

“I took my decision already, I said that two weeks ago. Now it depends on the club. Both clubs. We will know in a couple of days.”

Chelsea are fine

More than that he is among the best players in the world and had had seven years at Chelsea winning every domestic honor there is nothing left to achieve

Hazard is the perfect role model in modern football. In my opinion, he is the most complete all-round player of his generation after Messi.

People talk about his lack of goals, but he is capable of scoring 40+ goals every season if he plays as a false 9 in an attacking team.

In terms of attitude, it is extremely rare to find a top player like him. No ego, no funky hairstyles, no show-off on social media, no over the top celebrations, no controversial statements, no problems with managers etc. He is simply an old fashioned footballer who wants to do we’ll for his team.

He also respects the teams he plays for and doesn’t abuse his stardom. Someone in his position would have left Chelsea for Madrid long ago, and he even delayed his move from Lille in order to maximize his transfer fee.

A brilliant player and a brilliant character. It would be a privilege to watch him weave his magic in the El-Classicos in the future. I really hope he ends up winning a Ballon d’Or which he richly deserves.

Hazard will know Chelsea are not EPL or Champions League contenders at the moment. If Newcastle are taken over by another wealthy Arab as strongly rumoured their likes will lose further ground. He deserves to be playing for a really top club. Arsenal are so poor that even a Wolves can beat them.

tore through Arsenal defences - I was there at the stadium last night :(

How did you come and go from such a difficult place to travel to? Arsenal fans were not happy about having to travel to such a place, there were many empty seats due to that reason. UEFA are a bunch of idiots!

Eden Hazard is set to join Real Madrid after the Spanish club and Chelsea agreed a fee in the region of €100m (£88.5m) plus add-ons.

Hazard said after Chelsea won the Europa League final against Arsenal that “I think it is a goodbye, but in football you never know”. At that point Real and Chelsea had not agreed on a fee but on Wednesday night they did with the announcement set to follow in the next few days. The two clubs are now preparing the contracts to be signed.

The 28-year-old Belgian will leave Stamford Bridge after seven hugely successful years at the club, winning the Premier League twice, one FA Cup and two Europa League titles.

The Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, who is also expected to depart, said after the game against Arsenal that he had known about Hazard’s desire to leave for some time. “As you know, Hazard is a wonderful player, but you have to spend two or three months to understand him as a man,” he said. “But when you are able to understand him as a man, he’s a wonderful man. I knew Eden wanted to leave. But I wanted to respect his decision.”

Hazard had one year left on his contract and ruled out joining another English club in the buildup to the Europa League final, saying: “No chance, no chance. I am a Blue. It means a lot to me. I cannot play for another club in this country.”

Real Madrid are rebuilding their squad after a disappointing campaign in which they finished third in La Liga, 19 points behind Barcelona, having endured 12 defeats. They were also eliminated from the Champions League by Ajax in the last 16, 5-3 on aggregate after a 4-1 home defeat.

Julen Lopetegui started the season as Real manager but was sacked on 29 October and replaced by the caretaker Santiago Solari. Zinedine Zidane was then rehired as manager on 11 March and the club have already signed the defender Éder Militão from Porto for £44m and the striker Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for £57.7m.

travelled from the Middle East - Baku is a brilliant city - very impressive

Real Madrid's bid to sign Belgium forward Eden Hazard from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £88m is expected to be concluded in a matter of days.

Hazard, whose Blues contract is due to expire in a year, scored twice as they won the Europa League final last week.

The 28-year-old has scored 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea after joining from French club Lille in 2012.

In seven seasons at Chelsea he won the Premier League and Europa League twice, the FA Cup and League Cup.

Hazard has made no secret of his interest in a move to Real, describing a move to the Bernabeu as a "dream".

In June 2017, the Belgian said he would "listen" if Real Madrid offered him a deal, before admitting "it might be time to discover something different" after six "wonderful years" at Stamford Bridge following the 2018 World Cup.

Later that year, Hazard admitted he was torn between signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge and heading to Madrid, and believed Real to be "the best club in the world".

"It is my dream since I was a kid. I was dreaming about this club," he said when asked about a potential move.

£88 million for Hazard and up to £142 million with an initial £105 million for Coutinho who doesn't even get a game for Barcelona. Liverpool sure made fools out of Barca:))

He deserves this move. He has been brilliant for Chelsea, he has carried them during certain parts of some seasons. He idolise Zidane. Now he gets the chance to work with him.

Fans have spotted yet another hint that Eden Hazard's move to Real Madrid is edging ever closer - his shirt hanging in the club's official store.

The Belgian is expected to complete a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming days after the clubs agreed an initial fee of £88.5million which could rise up to £130million.

Hazard had made it clear that he wanted to move to the Spanish capital and with just one season left on his contract, Chelsea had no choice but to cash in on their most prized asset instead of risking losing him for nothing next summer.

With the transfer coming closer to becoming official, fans have spotted the shirt, with Hazard's name and the number 7 hanging in Real Madrid's official shop, which indicates that an announcement may not be too far away.

It looks likely that Hazard's final game for Chelsea was the Europa League final victory over Arsenal, where fittingly the key man scored a brace on the way to lifting the trophy. After the game, the player admitted that a transfer was likely.

"I think it’s a goodbye but you never know. My dream was to play in the Premier League. I did this for seven years in one of the biggest clubs in the world. Now maybe it’s time for a new challenge," he told BT Sport.

I believe he'll do good at Real Madrid. Chelsea fans haven't lost respect for him, none of them are calling him a snake or giving him abuse, instead they are just wishing him good luck and thanking him for everything.

He outgrew a club like Chelsea who are going nowhere. Other clubs particularly Man City have now caught up and past with Abramovic's ways of never ending spending. Don't know where the £88 million comes from when the said fee could go up to £150 million.

If we can get Christian Eriksen from Spurs also then we are ready for more tiltes under Zidane.

Hazard was on fire last World Cup. Belgium was the best team in the competition but France somehow won the trophy.

Months disappearing for Eden Hazard at Real Madrid - Michael Laudrup

Eden Hazard's persistent injury problems are "so sad" and "the months are disappearing for him", says former Real Madrid midfielder Michael Laudrup.

Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for a fee in excess of £150m in 2019, but has made just 22 appearances.

"I don't understand what's wrong, he had some injuries at Chelsea but never this much," said Laudrup.

The forward is yet to play this season and will miss Saturday's first El Clasico of the season.

The 29-year-old's latest setback is a muscular injury to his right leg and manager Zinedine Zidane said this week he faces another month on the sidelines.

"I've watched him so many times with Chelsea and Belgium and I really enjoy him because I think we lack these kinds of players in football nowadays, players who take the ball and players who go one-on-one or one-on-two," former Swansea manager Laudrup said in a special Clascio preview edition of BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

"We need them, otherwise we just play the ball around and who is going to do the special things?"

The Belgian scored 110 goals in 352 appearances for Chelsea during seven years at the club but has scored just one goal so far for Real Madrid.

"Every time you think he's back he plays a few games and then he's out again - I think it's so sad to see a great player like him and the weeks and months are just disappearing for him," added Laudrup, who joined Real Madrid from Barcelona in 1994.

"I hope he will come back but the problem is as you get older it's tougher to come back at the level you were before."

Eden Hazard: Belgium star vows to find his best form for Real Madrid and says he's ready to start games at Euro 2020

Eden Hazard has dismissed the idea that he cannot become the dominant force for Real Madrid that he has been for his country.

Hazard, part of the Belgium squad at Euro 2020, has been dogged by injury during his first two seasons in Madrid and is currently returning to full fitness following a muscle strain.

"I broke my ankle three times, it will never be the same as 10 years ago," Eden Hazard said.

"But I know that when I am in shape, I can prove myself on the field and that's what I'm working on now.

"I try to be a leader on the pitch regardless of who I'm playing for but you can only become a leader if you're playing well and I play a lot more with the national team.

"I think if I have playing time with Real Madrid I can also become a leader there."

The 30-year-old former Chelsea playmaker has stepped off the bench in both Belgium's games in the tournament so far and is hoping for a longer run out in their final Group B match against Finland in St Petersburg on Monday.

"I don't think I'm yet at 100 per cent," Hazard added. "I think I'm ready to start a game, but it's always been in the pipeline from the beginning of the tournament, it was always to have this incremental approach.

"I'm going to play a little bit more each time until I hit that 100 per cent mark. We'll see how long I can play for tomorrow.

"That was the plan, to bring me along gradually and to make sure I am completely fit in the knockout phase."

The Red Devils have already qualified for the round of 16 after beating Russia 3-0 and Denmark 2-1 in their first two group matches.

Real accept £41.3m Newcastle bid for star as Man Utd man rejects loan

Real Madrid have accepted a bid from Newcastle United for Eden Hazard but the winger does not want to move, according to reports in Spain. The Belgium international left Chelsea in 2019 – after a number of successful years at Stamford Bridge – to join Los Blancos for a fee in the region of £88million.

Hazard has struggled to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu, with injuries hampering his time in Spain.

Newcastle’s start under Eddie Howe is the worst by a Magpies boss this century

The 31-year-old has only started six La Liga matches this term and has been in and out the team since Carlo Ancelotti moved to Real from Premier League side Everton in the summer.

And now Spanish publication Nacional claims that Newcastle have made a €40m (£33m) offer plus another €10m (£8.3m) in ‘variables’ to attempt to bring Hazard back to the Premier League from Real. The €50m (£41.3m) offer from Newcastle ‘met the expectations’ of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who accepted their offer.

However, Hazard ‘said no’ to the proposal from the Magpies and wants to join a ‘big player’ in football with Newcastle ‘not an option’.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez said in November that Hazard was “sad” at Madrid due to his lack of playing time.

Martinez told COPE’s show El Partidazo: “Hazard is medically in his best moment since he arrived at Real Madrid.

“He is sad in football terms, this is the first time that he is experiencing this situation.

“He is a player who has always led winning projects and now he doesn’t have that role, but he is a footballer of exceptional talent and that is never lost, you have to have faith in him.”

Another player to turn down Newcastle is Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek with the Daily Telegraph claiming that the Netherlands international ‘rejected a loan move’.

Despite not playing regularly for the Red Devils, Van de Beek is satisfied that he can fight his way into Ralf Rangnick’s side before the end of the season.

The report adds that ‘Newcastle have been told the former Ajax star is not willing to join them as things stand’ which is ‘partly down to the fact Manchester United do not want to reduce the number of senior players in the squad in the middle of the season, but also because the player is not going to push to make the temporary switch to St James’ Park.’

Eden Hazard retires: Ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid winger ends football career

Former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from football.

Hazard, 32, joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2019 for £89m, but played just 54 league games for the Spanish giants and left the club at the end of last season.

He won two Premier League titles during his time at Stamford Bridge.

"You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time," said Hazard, who has been a free agent since his contract was terminated in June.

"After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer."

The Belgian had already retired from international football last December after being part of the squad which was knocked out of the 2022 World Cup during the group stage.

At Real Madrid, Hazard won the Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups. But his time in Spain is widely considered disappointing - he scored just 7 goals in 76 appearances in all competitions.

"One of the greatest players in Chelsea history", the Premier League club said on their website, adding that "he would always be welcome back at Stamford Bridge".

Hazard started his career with French club Lille, scoring 50 goals in 149 appearances and helping the club to win a domestic double of Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in 2010-11.

He moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2012, signing for a reported £32m and went on to become a club great, winning the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2014-15.

Hazard scored 110 goals across 352 appearances for the Blues, including the winner in the 2019 Europa League final against Arsenal in his final appearance for the club.

He is also one of only four players in Premier League history - alongside Thierry Henry, Matt Le Tissier and Eric Cantona - to score 15 or more goals and provide 15 or more assists in a single season, having netted 16 times and laid on 15 assists during the 2018-19 campaign.

"During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates - thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all," Hazard added on social media.

"I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian selection.

"A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad.

"Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played.

"Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you off the field soon my friends."

After making his international debut against Luxembourg in 2008, Hazard earned 126 Belgium caps and scored 33 goals. He featured at three World Cups and two European Championships, as well as captaining the team 56 times.

He found the net three times at the 2018 World Cup when Belgium finished third, including a strike against England in the third-place play-off.
