Since there is a thread opened about Trump and his effect on Pakistan I wanted to start same about what it means for India.. Anyone knowledgeable in this regard can post some details? From whatever I have heard it seems he's good for India is that correct?

He'll be a good President from the Indian perspective. Historically we have always preferred a Republican President, and the fact that we have a BJP government at present makes it perfectly compatible at both ends.

Hillary Clinton would have been more of the same Obama dose - and relations would have been fairly lacklustre. It's a good moment in time if losers like her at the American end, and Manmohan/Sonia/Rahul Gandhi at our end are sidelined.

huh?

certainly history doesnt lend credence to your claim.

India will become a superpower, get a seat at UNSC and Modi will break up with Nawaz Sharif to get with Trump.

He could set up trouble between India and China. He doesn't love India or Hindu's as many seem to think. Now that he has won could very well go against all promises he made. That is the nature of all politicians especially novices like Trump.

Actually it does. Republican presidents have always been better for india.
They've always backed Pakistan. Usually backed it v India and/or given tons of aid and military equipment

It does. The Indian establishment loved George Bush, but weren't too enthusiastic with Obama. In fact, I can't think of any major deals signed in the last eight years between India and the US, while the Bush administration was fairly open in this regard.

lol no. The Repubs have always been pro Pak, it's the dems who are pro india.

About democrats being pro India that's a myth busted by media on more than one occasion,Bush was the most pro-Indian(due to his policies) President and Nixon probably the most anti-Indian but his policies didn't effect us as much as say Clinton's sanctions or Kennedy's unwilling to help us during a war which drove us towards Russia.

This could very well be teh case as people here dont know what his next move is going to be, The news of him being president is a shock as it is but now this is where the hard work begins.

Yes may be for Hindu perspective and moreover the upper caste Hindu perspective...

pretty sure there will be more trump threads on PP than any cricketer next year. even more than afridi! :))

I wonder what they've got in common?

The way it's going, many of the world's chiefs will be singing off the same hymn sheet as they have a lot in common. Put it this way; has there been any election in the last 5-7 years of which result you have been happy with? Pakistan, the US, UK, India, Israel, there'll be France next year...

I am happy with all of them. After the noise and tabloid headlines pipe down, the world will move on like always. That might be a damp squib for you, but you'll come to accept it in time.

I'm sure you would have been yet happier if it was Hillary, Imran, Rahul and Milliband at the helm of their respective countries.

Imran yes, the other ones I wasn't bothered about, in fact if you read my posts in the US election thread before the result you would have seen that I suggested the US needed a Trump victory to get it out of their system. Your assumptions say a lot more about you than me.
