Had 2 great albums at the start of his career, possibly 3 and everything since then has been wack. Perfect example of someone whos a great MC but doesnt have quite the same skills when it comes to song writing.

Along with Nas, the best mainstream rapper alive. However, he has been a bit disappointing lately, in my opinion. I absolutely loved the old Eminem, but se seems like a different person in Relapse and Recovery. I did love Underground from Relapse though, probably the only good track in that album:

Haha, what a coincidence, I was singing: 'I had a dream.I was king. I woke up, still king' as I saw this thread.

One of the finest and most innovative artists of his generation, proof that the mainstream can indeed be good. His work over the last eight years has been mixed in comparison to the unbelievable product of his first eight years, but it still adds up to a brilliant if top-heavy career. Even back in 2002 after the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LPs, Lose Yourself and 8 Mile, Eminem was already very special at least, and in my opinion a musical genius. My mum is a white misanthrope in her 50s who despises the genre and she admits it too. So there.

Has been disappointing recently as chaiwala pointed out but his old stuff is gold. Among his newer songs only Beautiful compares with his best work of yesteryear.

Game is scared of Em lol

Recovery was pretty good. You guys didn't like it??

My Fav eminem song!!!

The Eminem Show album is a personal fav. of mine

I kind of fell out of favor with Eminem when he started doing all those silly raps and tried to be funny. He got away from his dark lyrics.

Then he came back with a bang.

He's alright, not a fan of his singles though. He's probably top 15, maybe top ten.

Biggest fall from grace since Snoop and Kurupt.

So much talent early on. The hunger drove him.

Once he had made it, he has become absolute rubbish.

Stick to witty humour and battle lines he would have been fine.

i feel sorry for people like you, actually a step further, i look down on people like you.

Guys and gals, do not bother with this "joker's" comments. He just ain't worth it. His other posts are just as un-noteworthy.

Has something recent happened? People been saying he fell off a long time ago but I really liked relapse and recovery was ok. He messed things up for slaughterhouse though, turned them into some sort of d12 tribute act.

Easily the best ever...atleast one of the best ever!! Lyrical Genius !!!

Spent last one hour hearing random songs of eminem....

45 seconds is enough to completely own the song for Eminem....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKDdT_nyP54
:)) I know music is a purely subjective thing but I found it hilarious that you labelled him as 1. the best ever and 2. a lyrical genius, and then went on to post smack that which is pop music at its absolute worst.

^^^ Lol...I was n't talking about the whole song...but his 45 sec apperance where kills it .and that becomes the best part part of the whole song...eminem's best have been already mentioned here....even I added mockingbird way back in october 2011 !!

I thought everything since his second album has just been meh

I cant stand Rap Music, just a load of rubbish.I grow up with Michael Jackson and his beautiful feminine voice and the incredible instrumentals of Quincy Jones and then you hear these guys just talking to music.

Wow. This post is relevant how?

Posted this in the Random Talk thread too but just found out he has his own thread.

16 years ago today the Marshall Mathers LP was released. In my opinion the best rap album ever and the best album of the past 16 years. Probably my favourite of all time. The legend's Magnum Opus.

I dont listen to him quite as much as I did a few years ago (still listen to him a lot) but I was so obsessed with this guy at a point that I still remember every single lyric to every song he has ever released. Hands down the best musician of the past 20 odd years. New stuff especially in hip hop usually makes me cringe.

This is all highly subjective. Eminem mostly appeals to white suburban kids, sure he had a few witty lines here and there but Eminem is and was no where close to being the greatest rapper. I would rate Nas, Jay Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne (2007 prime Wayne was unstoppable) over him. "New Hip Hop" is actually at a much better place than it was during Eminem's days.

Agreed. It's all subjective.

the life of pablo by Kanye recently wasn't bad at all tbh. I thought he had lost it, but no, he's still got it.

Nas and Jay z are great (especially reasonable doubt and blueprint) but Kanye and the pseudo rapper Lil Wayne arent fit enough to clean Eminem's boots. Hip hop is at a terrible place right now shaz619. Nas, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, Wu Tang etc are all better than most of the crap right now.

Heck even old Snoop, Warren G and Nate, Outkast e.t.c are way superior to Lil Wayne and his buddies

Eminem drops surprise album - and upsets some with Manchester bombing lyric

Eminem has surprised fans with another unexpected album on which he raps about the Manchester bombing.

Music To Be Murdered By is the 20-track follow up to 2018's Kamikaze, which was also released without warning.

On the track Unaccommodating the rapper references - in trademark fashion - the 2017 arena attack that killed 22 people.

It features the lyrics: "But I'm contemplating yelling 'Bombs away' on the game like I'm outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting."

The album contains an anti-violence message but some have reacted angrily to the lyrics.

The US rapper also released a new video, with the lyrics and storyline for Darkness appearing to be inspired by the 2017 mass shooting at a music festival in Las Vegas, which left 58 people dead.

The video ends with audio and footage of news reports from other similar killings across America - and then shows text asking "When will this end? When enough people care" - followed by a message urging people to register to vote to help change gun laws.

A link to the video on Eminem's website also encourages fans to contact or visit several gun violence prevention organisations, including Sandy Hook Promise.

Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed 20 children aged six and seven, and six members of staff at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on 14 December 2012 after killing his mother. He then turned the gun on himself.

Donald Trump has previously said he is speaking with Republicans and Democrats about possible legislation on guns.

The artwork for Eminem's latest album has an image of him holding an axe and gun to his head - in a nod to the only album Alfred Hitchcock ever released, of the same name.

According to his website, it is his 11th studio album, and features collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Juice WRLD, the 21-year-old rapper who died in December after reportedly suffering a seizure at an airport in Chicago.

His style hasnt evolved at all. The lyrics now come across as unecessarily provocative and crass. Needs to find better producers and a more introspective sound at this age.

From a pure rapping delivery perspective he is still second to none but the content is becoming tired.

This just goes to show the lack of knowledge in the media...if one is to take offense than Eminem's song about the Las Vegas shooter is actually far more offensive (and lyrically kind of tired and repetitive).

I agree with the poster above him, his music has followed the same pattern for almost a decade now and for a man of his age and wealth, it comes along as whiney and immature....I say this as a massive fan. Eminem has only been truly creative in recent times when he has been faced against fellow rappers who have tried to diss him...then we get that spark of genius.

He is GOAT in my opinion definitely in the top 5. The rhymes are just so smooth. I heard Rakim said that if he wasn't white he would have been GOAT in almost everyone's list. I think he is right up there with Nas, Tupac, Jay Z and Biggie

A man accused of breaking into Eminem's home told the US rapper he was there to "kill him", a police officer has testified.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, awoke to find Matthew Hughes in his home in Clinton Township, Michigan, one day in April.

A judge found enough evidence to send Hughes to trial on charges of home invasion and malicious destruction of property.

Police officer Adam Hackstock told a court hearing on Wednesday the singer at first thought Hughes was his nephew.

He was not armed when he was discovered at the star's property.

Giving evidence, Mr Hackstock said: "When Mr Mathers asked him why he was there, he was told by Mr Hughes that he was there to kill him."

Hughes' lawyer Richard Glanda said outside court: "In my opinion, I think there's some sort of mental issues involved here."

Eminem was not present at the court hearing.
