Match 5 in the series which the Kiwis lead in is about to start at Lords.

England squad

KP Pietersen, TR Ambrose, JM Anderson, IR Bell, RS Bopara, SCJ Broad, AN Cook, AD Mascarenhas, OA Shah, RJ Sidebottom, AJ Strauss, GP Swann, CT Tremlett, LJ Wright

New Zealand squad

DL Vettori, BB McCullum, GD Elliott, DR Flynn, PG Fulton, MR Gillespie, GJ Hopkins, JM How, JAH Marshall, MJ Mason, KD Mills, JDP Oram, JS Patel, TG Southee, SB Styris, LRPL Taylor

KP wins his 1st toss for England, standing in his 1st match as skipper.

NZ to bat 1st.

Weather set fair - decent crowd - will be full before long

Stark contrast to the Asia Cup...

Ball zipping around - plenty of 'fizzzzz'

McCallum struggling with the movement.

I think he'll nick one soon....

17-0 off 5 overs

Oh

My

God!

Tim Ambrose drops a SITTER

That will haunt him FOREVER.

That was seriously EMBARRASSING

Thats what happens when you mess around with the keepers role....

"And the inevitable wicket falls", writes our man at Lords, Tikku Chotamoun.

"Hows is caught at point by Bopara off the bowling of Broad"

NZ 39-1 off 10 overs

"...And Broad gets his 2nd. This time its Ross Taylor. He makes 4, and NZ are 54-2 in the 14th over"

Writes our man in the ground, Ronny Bhatterji

16.1 Anderson to McCullum, 1 run, gets across and nudges the ball to midwicket and whats this? McCullum's bat has clean broken in half as the ball struck it! I've never seen anything like that ... seriously, ball hit the middle of the bat and the blooming thing just snapped in half, and McCullum ran through for the single with nearly two pieces in his hand ... he has a laugh and calls for a new one ... they don't make 'em like they used to, do they?

:))

Even a broken bat is far more exciting than the Asia Cup.....

McCallum surrenders his wkt tamely.

Anderson gets him to nick one to 1st slip

71-3 off 18.2 overs

And now the 'Mighty Swann' gets in on the act.

He bowls Flynn all ends up...

124-4 off 31.2 overs

Styris tries to do a 'KP' - a left handed shot - he misses. Struck on pad.

I think he wants some sort of retribution!

2 MASSIVE SIXES by Oram.

That second one was 106m!

Brings up Oram's 50

200-4 off 43 overs

"But Oram tries it on again....He is caught on the long off boundary - would have been worth 12 in IPL - not at Lords"

- writes our man in the middle, Jyoti Naskaramawami.

204-5 off 45 overs

Styris... terribly limited player, his age has caught up with him.
Powerfless to do anything but flicks of pads atm, trying to turn everything to midwicket for singles

Styris brings up his 50 with a SIX.

NZ 215-5 off 46 overs

"Elliot powers his 1st ever Six in international cricket. He's got some way to go before catching up with SHahid Afridi though"

- says our roving reporter Jatinder Butpinder Singh

228-5 off 47 overs

Styris hitting big now.

Anderson & Sidebottom coming in for punishment

240-5 off 48 overs

NZ will be happy with any score over 250+

SIX off Ryans last ball! A BIGGIE!

255 off 49 overs - 1 over left

NZ: 266 off 50 overs

Should be a good game.

Very strong finish by NZ at the death! 60+ off the last 5 overs

sounds like Sunil Gavaskar talking during lunch break on radio. last thing was duscussing Zimbabwe situation. Now talking about the Sidy attack

Cook out ct behind off Southee
Eng 60-2 after 13.2 overs - need 207 more

Bopara out bowled Vettori
Eng 101-4 - need 166 more from 24.5 overs @ 6.68

125-4 - 141 reqd from 111 balls

Shah just dropped by Vettori.

Tight finish I think

32.1 Vettori to Wright, OUT, bowled em with a quicker ball! Vettori is too much for the likes of Wright, backing away, trying to cut the arm ball, and he's in no spot to tackle that and the stumps are splayed

LJ Wright b Vettori 6 (22b 0x4 0x6) SR: 27.27

Eng 130-5 after 32.1 overs - need 137 more @ 7.68

Owais Shah batting on 24

Bad loss for South Africa.
