There’s a lot of discussion of who is to be considered a Fab 4 and who not

I’ve come to this conclusion that a player to be considered a Fab 4, he has to have

850+ points in test
800+ points in Odi

If you see this none other than Kohli satisfies it.

Pujara and Smith are satisfying it in tests, whereas less than 650 points in odis

Rohit, Taylor and Babar are satisfying it in odis but less than 850 points in tests

Williamson and Root are satisfying it in neither

So, I assume there’s just Fab 1.

For those who are saying Babar is in Fab 4, there’s no such thing coz only Kohli has more than 850 points in tests and more than 800 points in odis

The Fab Four is made up nonsense.

To be a top batter one must be able to score consistently in all conditions in all formats against good bowling.

I don't really think you can break down the Fabulous 4 down to numbers. It's just one of those things that just happened to be, someone referred to them as such and the entire cricket fraternity went on to accept it as such. For a person to become a part of the Fabulous 4 or make it 5, there isn't a specific ranking he has to attain or a number of points he has to churn up or an average he has to obtain. He'll be part of the group as soon as people accept him as part of it.

What made the fabulous 4, wasn't even necessarily being the best players in the world. AB should have been part of that group if that was the criteria. The fabulous 4 came to be because we had 4 young batsmen of a similar age, who were good across formats but especially good in Test cricket. Most importantly though they were already the best players of their respective teams at a pretty young age. This is exactly why I think there is talk of Babar becoming part of the fab group, as he has already established himself as the best batsman in the team and by breaking into the top 10 in all formats shown he is great in all formats. To become part of the fab group he will obviously have to keep up these performances but more than that the fans and analysts have to accept him as such.

Each fan will have his or her own opinion and perspective on the matter. Some will not think of him as part of the group because of the age gap and some will simply not regard him as good a batsman as the other 4. Some will just be bitter because of his nationality, there are all sorts out there. Babar will be part of the fabulous group when there is enough talk out there of him being part of the group, that's when you know he has made it. Even now there are people who say there is no fab 4 just a fab 2 or that Root isn't good enough for that group etc. The fact that people are talking about the 4 of them together though the strongest indication that there is such a group of 4.

This.

Only two players meet that criteria - Smith and Kohli.

The other two are still in their for marketing reasons, otherwise Smith and Kohli have blown clear and have become all time greats of the game.

Really should have a name to group these two. Fab two doesn't have the same ring to it.
