In the latest episode of Cricket Conversations on PakPassion, host Mohammad Aizaz sits down with Shehzar Mohammad — son of former Test cricketer Shoaib Mohammad, grandson of the legendary Hanif Mohammad, and founder of SMF Fitness Studio.

From growing up in Pakistan’s most iconic cricket family to revolutionizing athlete training, Shehzar shared insights on how fitness has reshaped modern cricket and what Pakistan must do to compete globally.

Key topics include:

Fitness evolution in Cricket:
He emphasized that modern cricket demands explosive power over endurance, with strength training directly impacting performance.

Redefining "Fit Enough": He challenged conventional aesthetics-focused fitness metrics, arguing true fitness combines mental toughness with physical stamina to sustain performance across seasons.

Common training mistakes: He identified critical errors: skipping match-day activation, poor recovery timing, and bodybuilding-style training instead of explosive, cricket-specific conditioning.

Personalized nutrition approach: He highlighted how genetics determine optimal nutrition but warns against processed foods that impair cognitive function.

PCB structural issues: He critiqued Pakistan cricket's instability - frequent leadership changes and inconsistent selection policies that waste talent and advocated for long-term grassroots development with proper fitness foundations.

Yo-Yo Test realities: He acknowledged the test's value but criticized its timing and rigid application and suggested complementing it with mental resilience assessments for holistic player evaluation.

Looking forward to hearing what he has to say because Azam Khan is his client for years and for reason we can all see that there is no weight reduction.

Weird statement. If anything tests and ODIs are marathons rather than sprints. t20 is different. He seems like a polar opposite to his grandfather who is still Pak's GOAT opener. Cricketing Talent has shrunken in the Mohammad family in every new generation.

He is referring to individual performance in Cricket which is more akin to Sprints compared to Marathon and giving specific examples of bowling, running between the wickets etc so his analogy seems to be accurate.

You are referring to the "length of the Game" of Test matches & ODI in comparison to T20 being longer and you are also correct in your observation.

You two are making two different arguments and both accurate.
