Well, there must be a great substance in it, if JG believes that Babar and Rizwan are truly selfless players

I agree with most of what he has said since leaving Pakistan but his excuses for Babar and Rizwan seem to be from a misplaced sense loyalty. Gillespie claims we need to see their batting in context of game situation but there is very little context that can be applied to slow batting over a 5 year period.

I think he was just being diplomatic with his answers on riz-bar. He is not the type of person to say "XYZ player is bad". Only our local ex coaches do that.

Typical cheapskate PCB. They learn nothing from their own embrarassments. Not even the first time they did this. Steve Rixon complained about the same thing.

I think what Gillespie says is fair. Babar and Rizwan are both batters who prefer being in their comfort zones.

In their minds, they truly believe that 160-170 is still an ok score and that their batting styles which are conducive to reach around 180-190 on their best day is workable as an approach.

With that false belief enshrined they are both fairly team oriented players like Gillespie said. The only politicking they do is for the captaincy role which anyway in Pak cricket history is normal.

Jason Gillespie fires fresh shot at PCB, shockingly reveals he hasn't been paid yet

Jason Gillespie had a controversial stint as Pakistan's senior men’s team head coach. The former Aussie all-rounder took over as Test team coach in April 2025, but resigned months later in December, blaming the PCB for a lack of communication. Gillespie had taken over as interim white-ball coach after the resignation of Gary Kirsten.
In a recent interview with PakPassion, Gillespie made a shocking revelation, accusing the PCB of still owing him money.

‘Little bit disappointing’: Jason Gillespie

“Yes, without going into details. I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's being done. So I'll just navigate through that in due course”, he said.

“Admittedly, that's been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yes, we'll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that'll get sorted as soon as possible,” he added.

After stepping down as Pakistan's head coach, he also revealed that experience had soured his love for coaching and accused Aaqib Javed of being a clown and of always undermining him during his tenure.

Meanwhile, after Gillespie’s resignation, a PTI report also revealed that Gillespie was not included in major PCB decisions about the team, and the board also didn’t renew the contract of high-performance coach Tim Nielsen. Also, the Test squad for the South Africa series was reportedly announced without consulting him. Kirsten also faced similar circumstances, reportedly, during his resignation.

During his playing career, Gillespie was part of the Australian squad which won the 2003 World Cup. He made his ODI debut in 1996, and his Test debut in the same year too. He also played in the unauthorised Indian Cricket League, representing the Ahmedabad Rockets.

During his recent interview, Gillespie also gave an example of zero communication between him and the PCB during his tenure as head coach. “One of the major issues was the lack of consultation. For instance, the decision to appoint Mohammad Rizwan as captain came without any discussion. Moves like this disrupted team unity,” he said.

PCB statement on former head coach's claims

The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues.

The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms.

The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it.

Jason Gillespie blasts Pakistan cricket board: 'I'm still waiting on unpaid dues'

Former Pakistan red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has taken a direct jab at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), revealing that he’s still waiting to be paid for work he did during his brief tenure.

In a candid interview with PakPassion, the Australian great said, “Yes, without going into details. I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's been done.” He added, “That’s been a little disappointing, but hopefully it can be sorted sooner rather than later.”

Gillespie’s stint with Pakistan came to an abrupt end after he stepped down as red-ball coach ahead of the upcoming Test series in South Africa.

As per reports, the PCB sidelined Gillespie in major team decisions, including squad selection, despite offering him a key coaching role just a month prior.

One of Gillespie’s biggest frustrations was reportedly the board's decision not to renew the contract of high-performance coach Tim Nielsen, a figure Gillespie trusted.

Instead, Shahid Aslam was added to the support staff on the recommendation of interim white-ball coach Aaqib Javed -- a move that didn't sit well with Gillespie.

Adding insult to injury, the former Australian pacer allegedly found himself ignored by some PCB officials, with calls going unanswered for weeks. This, despite Gillespie volunteering to coach Pakistan’s white-ball squad during their historic ODI series win in Australia -- their first in 22 years.

The PCB had once hailed Gillespie’s appointment as a turning point, but his departure and claims of unpaid dues now paint a far more chaotic picture behind the scenes.

Pakistan Cricket Board yet to pay me: Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie
Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie had a tumultuous tenure as Pakistan cricket team’s coach from April 2024 to December 2024. During his tenure as coach, Gillespie was left frustrated by the attitude of Pakistan Cricket Board’s attitude and their lack of communication with its own coach. Finally, a frustrated Gillespie chose to part ways with the PCB.

Now he has revealed in an interview with PakPassion website that he is still waiting for remuneration from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Gillespie said, “Yes, without going into details. I’m still waiting on some remuneration from work that’s being done. So I’ll just navigate through that in due course.”

“Admittedly, that’s been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yes, we’ll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that’ll get sorted as soon as possible,” he added.

Jason Gillespie was one of the most highly regarded cricket coaches in the world, having experience in various leagues around the world and even at the international level with Papua New Guinea. However, his bad experience with Pakistan has soured his love for coaching, he shared.

Jason Gillespie was replaced by Aaqib Javed as Head Coach, a man described as a clown by the Australian.

Anyone that knows the PCB knew this was coming. Only poor Jason didn't know that it's a circus run by corrupt clowns. The PCB is like a bad boy that each new Girlfriend thinks it can change but Jason is the latest to get abused and thrown out.

On Sunday, the PCB issued a statement denying claims made by Gillespie in an interview with Pakpassion, calling his departure without serving his notice period "a clear breach of contractual terms".

The relationship between the PCB and Gillespie had broken down long before he resigned. Two months earlier, he was removed from the selection panel, and later said his role had been reduced to being a "matchday strategist" and that it "wasn't what he signed up for". In November, ESPNcricinfo reported Gillespie would not coach the side for Pakistan's tour of South Africa, with Aqib Javed taking charge instead, which ultimately materialised.

The final straw came when Gillespie's assistant, fellow Australian Tim Nielsen, was told his contract would not be renewed. Gillespie viewed this as another move to undermine his authority and believed the PCB wanted him to quit to avoid paying out his contract. He submitted his resignation the following day, accusing the PCB of "completely and utterly blindsiding him".

The dispute between the two parties has developed the day after the PCB publicly announced the search for their next head coach. Javed, who served as interim coach since December and oversaw a string of poor results, will no longer be part of the coaching setup

PCB refutes former Pakistan head coach's non-payment claims, alleges contract breach

Gillespie became Pakistan’s Test coach in April 2014 but stepped down in December due to differences with PCB management. However, in an interview on the Wisden Patreon Podcast, Gillespie alleged that his exit was prompted by a lack of communication over high-performance coach Tim Nielsen’s departure. He also said his stint as Pakistan head coach had left him reluctant to return to a role as full-time international head coach.

Months after stepping down, Gillespie also claimed he had not received full remuneration from his tenure from the PCB. Speaking to the PakPassion podcast, he said: "Yes, without going into details. I'm still waiting on some remuneration for work that’s been done. That’s been a little disappointing, but hopefully it can be sorted sooner rather than later."

I think people don't know how difficult it is to work for/with the PCB until you have to deal with them.

Over the years I have learnt this first hand.

PCB's response doesn't make sense. They are morally and legally bound to pay him amounts from the England 2024 series and the Australia 2024 series because he was the coach for the series. They cannot with-hold those payments just because he refused to serve the notice period of 4 months. The notice period pay would have only been applicable if he chose to work for the PCB for the 4 months after resignation which was not the case.

Extremely unprofessional from the PCB and this is the sort of stuff which will really damage PCB's reputation and ability to recruit quality foreign coaches going forward. Mohsin Naqvi would not be able to get away with this if he was not so highly connected with the right people.

I think they have given up on reputation sheputation. The level of Besharmi has been normalised. JG should have known

I really wish dizzy was givin a longer time period to work with PCT he was genuinely interested in getting us better but of course jokers at top don’t want us to be better which is another story

I wish dizzy the best of luch for his future roles seems like a genuinely nice bloke eventually good things do happen with nice people after a setback

As for Pakistan cricket we deserve our Aqib’s and Waqar’s

Seeing this condition of PCB system, no coach would want to jump in this mess pool. Especially the foreign coaches will think like 1000 times before jumping into it
