Who is the Pakistan batting consultant? Oh yes Younis Khan! Can he please ask Fakhar bro put this shot away! He is more than capable of clearing the boundary whilst standing in his crease and swatting it to mid wicket or down the track regardless of what way the ball is turning.

He got out to this pathetic shot against SA in the 2019 World Cup also and today, opening the door for SA to creep back into the game when they were pretty much down and out. He could have gone on to score a 160+ score with Babar anchoring for his own hundred.

This shot needs to be put away, pathetic shot selection against 45-55mph and it is so predictable, the keeper is already in position every time to handle it!

true. Why play it against spinners? play it against pace if you really want to play it

Fakhar looks so much better with conventional shots. There is not enough pace on the ball for ramp shots, he should definitely omit this shot vs spin.

Fine leg was up in the circle so he wanted to exploit that. One can argue that despite 3 fielders on the boundary rope on the leg side he can still try to trust his strengths but, fine leg being up was the reason he tried that.

Nothing wrong.

He scored a 100.

THe ramp shot didnt work as the ball hit his body, had it not hit his body it was going for four

Absolutely ridiculous. I cannot fathom why he would play it against a spinner when the chances of getting out are much higher than any chance of scoring runs.

The moment he played that shot today his dismissal against South Africa at the World Cup replayed in my head.

You would say that I suppose considering your role model tried a ramp shot against Joginder “65mph” Sharma in the 2007 T20 World Cup final...

Fakhar is unconventional player. He will always play such shots. However, for a inconsistent batsmen who has been struggling for a year to score another hundred should be applauded.

It would have been different if he got out at 10 playing such a shot.

Just read the OP, :))) basically OP is blaming Fakahar Zaman 100 scorerer for Pakistan collapsing.

Yes his ramp shot is the reason why Babar Azam and the rest of the team cant attack part tiemrs

Pant plays this shot easily against spinners lots of time. Fakhar got out because the ball accidently hit his body, otherwise shot can work

:)

On Serious Note I think Fakahar Zaman is Better ODI player than any Fab 4. Specially so called king kohli who run away from Australia tour.

yup. when the ball contacted with the bat, there was enough elevation for it to go for four. However, what the OP missed was that the ball hit his body.

it seems attention is being diverted from the poor innigns that babar played today and trying to blame it on Fakhar.

It's really odd that our batsmen cannot dominate spin, even to the extent that part timers can keep them quiet in the death

What is really odd is that two of the coaches in our national setup: Misbah and Younis, where two batsmen who would absolutely dominate the best of spinners and hit them for out of the park more often the not. Yet as coaches no player has shown any progress in their ability to play spin.

Honestly i think it's a testament to just how pathetic Misbah is as a coach. Not only are his strategies and planning way off but he also fails to pass down the any sort of techniques/advice that could help develop our players ability.

All I know is that I have seen Fakhar attempt this shot multiple times and not only has it never come off but it has also resulted in getting him dismissed. When he's so good at slog-sweeping I don't see the need to play this shot.

I agree. While some batsmen might pull it off, Fakhar isn't one of them, based on the evidence so far. He looks ridiculous. Great innings today, and nobody here is blaming him for our collapse, but he should put this shot away.

I guess you are content with a batsman scoring 100, considering this would have been a dream achievement of Misbah who played 160+ ODI's at number 5...

Not a fan of the ramp shot, makes me angry at the stupity of when it was played by one of our batsmen in the 2011 world cup in india.

Fakhar is better when hes going after spinners down ground or through legside.

Well it adds some variety to method of dismissal, as it wasn’t that long ago one of Pakistan’s premier opening batsman would just be giving a catch to first slip with an angled bat whenever he batted against South Africa - and mind you it was not after scoring a 100 either , usually a single digit score between 0-9.

Still remember him getting out trying to ramp Imran Tahir in 2019 WC, just chipped it straight to Amla at slip :facepalm

Regardless, it was a brilliant innings, and he did pull off a ramp shot against a pacer at least.

Pakistani fans are masters of overanalyzing everything. Yet another pointless thread.

The other day, someone created a pointless thread to do bhangra over how Fakhar didn’t celebrate his hundred and today he should be crucified for committing the grave sin of playing a ramp shot.

Batsmen get our playing certain shots. They often get in the same away again and again. Every single batsman in history has got out multiple times in the same fashion.

Some people don’t have anything insightful to say but are always acting like experts.

Conventional shots will not give you results 100% times. At times, you gotta try out of box.

Didn't watched the first inning but he did got a 100. Didn't he?

2 excellent innings.

Cut him some slack.

It was a poor shot and a shot he shouldn't play. Hopefully he'll look at the shot when they analyse the match afterwards and realise it's not a shot that is one of his strengths.

I guess an expert would know one to call out another

If he wants to play a shot against spinners, I'd suggest developing the reverse sweep instead of the ramp shot. And to play these shots, you can't premeditate it.

He put us in a good position today, but would be disappointed as the dismissal was nothing extraordinary.

Its proberly only the second time he has got out like that he proberly shouldnt have played it.
