What?!?
Was hoping he will be back for 3rd test match!
Bad news.

Yes, but lets see how well he recovers. Mickey will ask for the update before the 3rd test and there are few days remaining so you never know.

Grade 2 is pretty severe and needs to be given full time to make a proper recovery.

Looks like Imam and hafeez to open again

would rather Abid Ali or someone new come in but it wont happen.

Hope he's fit, he has to open in SAF ahead of Hafeez.

Anyway that puts to bed the nonsense theory that Fakhar was left out by Inzamam not because of injury but to favour Imam.

Wonder if those posters will retract their conspiracy theories.

Since when was he carrying this inury?

I can only speculate that he was struggling with his knee for sometime i think and it officially became an issue during the NZ LOIs. That is why he was rested in few T20s as well.

Seriously confidential information disclosed by Mickey towards the end of the tour
I hope Fakhars treatment is on course and going well

This theory will never go away. No one can deny that Imam was fast tracked into the team because of Inazamam and players like Fawad who has scored thousands of runs are not given oppurtunity.

Yes it is, i am surprised why did he play the ODIs series at all when he was struggling even before that with knee and rested in couple of T20 games as well.

Could it be a reason of his failure in Asia cup?

Firstly I've called for Fawad's selection too but you're comparing an opener to a middle order batsman.

Secondly, the circumstances of Imam's debut is besides the point. I wouldn't start Imam in SAF FWIW. But people were claiming Fakhar was rested from the first two Tests because Inzamam wanted to do a favour to his nephew.

Now Mickey Arthur and the doctor have confirmed Fakhar has a ligament tear unless they too are part of this conspiracy along with Fakhar himself who had to be rested during the T20 series. So those posters were lying weren't they ? Or this forum now a place where we can lie and smear anyone without evidence ? I would like to think we're better than this.

Can be but cant tell for sure. Even if it was that Fakhar should have told the management and should have been rested, may be it wasnt taken seriously at that point of time and it has worsen.

No. It was a mental problem.

To be honest, he clearly wasnt himself in that tournament. Performance is another matter, he wasnt in the game.

Yes can be the mental problem but I havent seen him having any such issues before.

SA tour is almost a month away so hopefully he will be better by then.

Yes, a middle order bat was not given an opportunity in favor of an opening batsman.

Kahin aur jaa ke rona dhona karo yaar, this is getting annoying now.

So we are stuck with professorie.

Yeah not so worried about the 3rd test, more worried about Fakhar’s availability in SA bcz he can be really important there. Hoping he can be fully fit by then.

Unfortunatley when you have a group of posters who think they can outbat a professional cricketer who has played the game all his life, your above statement takes a new form entirely.

Lol, Fakhar called it a slight niggle during the PSL draft. Why would he lie about it?

Takes 4-6 weeks for grade 2 ligament tear injury to heal, surgical repairment isn't usually needed with grade 2, but arthroscopic repair can heal it quickly.

Shan needs to be recalled at the expense of one of them. Lets see if the beast at the A team level has actually improved.

Damn. Hope he recovers soon. Because honestly, he's one of the few and only batsmen in our squad who I can actually see succeeding in South Africa.

Damn. This is bizarre as the test squad was announced before 3rd ODI and there he said he was rested but he still played the 3rd ODI. Makes you think.

If they knew he was injured then why did they play him in the third ODI? They left him out of Test squad so they knew he wasn't fit yet they made him play in the last ODI...what the...

Everyone talking about why was he playing the ODIs, why was he playing those T20s? Should have been rested for that instead.

Some media reports saying to the contrary - that he will miss SA tour.

FZ has been called on Tuesday by the medical panel to assess his reports and then a decision can be made. From the initial MRI reports, it looks like a recovery may take 3-4 weeks. But the medical panel will decide on Tuesday.

If its a grade 2 injury hes not likely to recover in 3 weeks, add to that it depends whether just rest of surgery etc.. is needed on such an injury.

If he misses the Tests, then no big deal and he won't make much of a difference.

Hopefully, he will return for the limited over matches because he will be a key player and can make a huge difference.

This is worrying as we've been hearing about injuries with him for a while.

Even if he's fit for SA tour, I wouldn't play him, no point. We need him for the world cup, and I don't think we should jeopardise that for the sake of playing an SA tour where we'll likely get whitewashed anyway.

Just open with Imam and Azhar.

Then why even bother to tour?

No point risking his longterm fitness by rushing him back. Even if our other opening options are woeful.

Bad news, I just saw a report saying he is out of the boxing day test against SA

Big set back. We need exciting batsmen. I am kind of bored our batting approach in test matches. There is no one to look forward to other then Haris Sohail may be (and even he played that super slow knock in the last test).

Please note that all other reports you are reading are unofficial. What is posted here is what PCB have confirmed to us. That is all that is known at the moment.

So apparently Abbas and Fakhar might not play the 1st test. Big set back for Pakistan. Hafeez will open again :/
