I can only speculate that he was struggling with his knee for sometime i think and it officially became an issue during the NZ LOIs. That is why he was rested in few T20s as well.

Secondly, the circumstances of Imam's debut is besides the point. I wouldn't start Imam in SAF FWIW. But people were claiming Fakhar was rested from the first two Tests because Inzamam wanted to do a favour to his nephew.

Now Mickey Arthur and the doctor have confirmed Fakhar has a ligament tear unless they too are part of this conspiracy along with Fakhar himself who had to be rested during the T20 series.
