The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has approved Mohammad Haris as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan squad.

Haris was named as a replacement after Zaman was ruled out after sustaining a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury to his right knee.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 consists of Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager - Cricket (Chair); Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events; Peter Roach, Cricket Australia, Shane Doyle, Men’s T20 World Cup Local Organising Committee; Shaun Pollock (Independent) and Ian Bishop (Independent).

It doesn't matter , Pakistan already out of the worldcup. Better to give youngester chance .

Brilliant job PCB. Rushing Fakhar and Shaheen back, after completely botching the latter’s rehab work as well, and now one of them is injured again.

All other batsmen and bowlers in Pakistan must have migrated to Zimbabwe like Raza, so these 2 guys were rushed frantically as we have no one else.

I strongly oppose Amir on a lot of views, but after hearing what he and Shoaib Akhtar and many other ex players have said, I see now that PCB is a true living nightmare to be an employee of.

We will miss Fakhar in our last two matches. He has surely made such a massive impression in the tournament;-)

I hope someone in the team management has a lightbulb moment and rest Shaheen now. All it took was a bit of hesitation in running between the wickets that re-aggravated Fakhar’s injury.

We are pretty much out of the cup. Shaheen is a bowler for us for the next decade. He is not the same Shaheen as a year ago anyway and will need time to get back there.

Someone please use your brain and do the grown up thing.

From yesterday's presser:

"Obviously with any knee injury, it takes time to have 100% recovery. [Fakhar] Zaman and the team understood the risks of coming into the tournament and we got him in. You saw how he performed with batting in the last match, unfortunately in the last match he had a bit of a twist which aggravated his injury,” said Najeebullah Soomro, the team doctor for Pakistan.

He further added, "We were aware of the risks of the comeback. He is obviously an important player for the team. The player, the medical staff and the team management were aware of that. We decided to bring him back in. In cricket, and any sport, we take risks. Sometimes they pay off, sometimes they don't."
