The Indian fans expected team India to lift the ICC Champions Trophy yet another time ahead of the finals against Pakistan on June 18. However, Pakistan outplayed Virat Kohli and Co. and defeated them by a huge margin of 180 runs. The Indian bowlers failed to take wickets in the first half and in the later half, the star-studded batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards. As soon as India lost the match to Pakistan, the Indian fans turned out to be furious and started expressing their anger against the Indian cricket team on the city streets.

As reported by news agency ANI, the crowd of people in Kanpur and Haridwar staged a protest against the Indian cricket team after they faced a humiliating defeat from Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2017. The people couldn’t swallow this defeat and revealed their agitation by burning up the posters of Indian players and breaking TV sets on the roads just like the Pakistani fans used to do in their country when they lost to India. On the other hand, high security has been deployed outside the house former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Ranchi.

This type protest was last seen during the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup when India lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. After losing these games, Team India was eliminated from the tournament and had to return home.

It is disheartening to see that fans have reacted to India’s defeat to Pakistan in this manner after they dominated the better part of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. They were the Defending Champions of the tournament and reached the final for the third time in the history of the tournament. And to top it all, they have lost the match against India in an ICC event after a long gap of 8 years. People need to understand that it is just a game of cricket and teams do lose to one another. Fans can criticise the players if they want to but taking actions like these will only degrade the spirit of the sport.

Did you guys see that Indian fan crying like there's no tomorrow on the news? hahaha. Brilliant stuff.

I hate when SC fans do this.

MSD won then the WC and deserves respect.

Pathetic. Let players live in peace.

India doesn't deserve a character like MS. Like forcing him to quit captaincy wasn't enough...

The WC 11 belonged to Pakistan... but NO!!! Because of Misbah.. but he stayed as captain for another half decade.. destroyed Pakistani cricket to the most lowest points... but Pakistani fans still respect him

:misbah

Utter madness this. Why can't these uneducated fellas absorb few bitter pills. They should know more than India losing it the game has been won by Pak.

Such a shame. The legendary MS Dhoni deserves more respect from everyone!

He is such a great person that for me he is the ideal role model for the youth in Asia.

It's not far fetched to say Pakistan would have won that world cup if Sarfraz and was there instead of Misbah

After all and ATG like MS has done this is the treatment he gets for losing one game! Come on grow up it is just a game at the end of the day life moves on.

There is no need for this, it's not like they lost on purpose. Breaking TVs is over the top but attacking someone's house is just plain criminal.

OTT the reaction from a few fans and Indian media making it look like it is widespread.

Chill..
These are some uneducated jobless Jacks of a not very prosperous part of the nation. Third world problems.

Misbah dropped Tendulkar... and ate up 70 deliveries or more than 10 OVERS in dots..... he was the reason we lost that match... the SL final would've been a walk in the park

Pakistanis may not speak good English but atleast they don't have this kind of jaahil behaviour towards their players when they lose.
