At least seven students have been stabbed to death and 12 injured in a knife attack outside a school in northern China, BBC reported quoting officials.

The knife-wielding man attacked the students near a secondary school in Mizhi County in Shaanxi province as they were heading home for the day, officials were quoted as saying.

A suspect is said to be in police custody.

Eight killed in stabbing incident in Wuxi, China​

Eight people were killed and 17 others injured when a 21-year-old student went on a stabbing spree in China's eastern city of Wuxi on Saturday evening, police said in a statement.

The incident comes just days following an hit-and-run incident where thirty-five people were killed and 43 others injured after a car drove into a group of people outside a sports centre in China's southern city of Zhuhai.

China executes driver who killed dozens in car attack​

A man who killed dozens by driving his car into people exercising outside a stadium in southern China has been executed, state media reported.

Fan Weiqiu, 62, killed at least 35 people and injured more than dozens on 11 November after he ploughed his car onto an exercise track in Zhuhai, in what is thought to be the deadliest attack on Chinese soil for a decade.

The rampage was sparked by Fan's "dissatisfaction" over how his property had been divided following his divorce, the court heard.

His execution on Monday comes less than a month after a court sentenced him to death.

Fan was found guilty of "endangering public safety", with the court describing his motive as "extremely vile" and "the methods" used "particularly cruel".

The attack was one of 19 targeting strangers to take place across China in 2024, including two within a week of the Zhuhai attack.
