Seems to have the strangest results but is the best tournament you have witnessed in your life so far? If not, which edition was better?

It has to be one of the best.

I love Italia 90 because I was only a small child experiencing the world cup for the first time. Pavarotti voice, the new beautiful stadiums, the Italian culture, Maradonna, Baggio, Linekar, Gazza and even Roger Miller were great characters to see. The matches were also every tense even if the quality was not great at times.

From the time I've been alive it definitely has been - but a lot of the "big teams" are in somewhat of a transition which opens things up nicely. Spain were dominant from '08-'12 but then no one team has really stamped their authority since then. Germany you'd have thought would go ahead and assert dominance but they hven't done that.

France seem like the next big nation but tbh it's hard to say, especially with the quality of Belgium who have started to play to their potential. Either way, yeah best WC.

Come on ENGLAAAAAANDDDD!

Been a very good tournament as there isn't really one dominant team heads and shoulders above everyone else. Been lots of upsets and IIRC, not a single 0-0. We all thought Russia would not be good hosts but I have really enjoyed this World Cup.

World Cups are always the best in Europe, the continent where football was born and which has the best climate for playing football. I totally support spreading the game across different regions and growing the game globally, however a classic World Cup in the ideal conditions and magnificent stadia has been extremely welcome.

Surely after Belgium v Japan, the OP crown is now secure.

There have been a number of brilliant matches - POR v ESP, FRA v URU, ARG v FRA, JPN v BEL to name but a few.

The best thing is that most of the teams are looking to attack and not play defensive and dull football.

That's only true for western Europe. Russia is no more the home of soccer than Brazil or Japan are.

The quality of soccer has nothing to do with the hosts, it's the talent the countries are bringing to the tournament.

Yeah I agree with that but everyone thought it would be a disaster for the fans etc in Russia - have not heard too many controversies regarding that.
